In early June Chris provided quotes for all the painting and the work included material. Chris stated it would take 5 days to complete the work. My wife has chemical sensitivities and it was understood we needed to complete all work fast so paint odors were not lingering for a long period of time.June 25th - He showed up at 8AM the first day, and asked for 50% down payment which was never discussed during the quoting process. I reluctantly agreed to pay. All the other painters we got quotes from said we don't pay anything until the work is completed and we were satisfied. He left our house the first day by 2PM.June 26th, Monday, his start time was 8:30. The project was already behind schedule on day 2. He left by 2PMJune 27th, Tuesday, his start time was 9, left at 2:30June 28th, Wednesday, his start time was 8:30 and left at 1:00 - At this point we are way behind schedule...June 29th, Thursday, his start time was 8:30 and left at 3. The work was supposed to be completed on the 29th, it was not. There were several days of work left to be completed based on the progress made after 5 days. Knowing this, my wife had to get out of the house as the paint was bothering her, so she left for MN thinking she could come back July 3rd.June 30th, Saturday, Chris came and worked for about 6 hours. Still not complete...July 1st - Sunday, Chris did not work this day, I used 1 gallon of the paint to do some of the entry way and paint so my wife could come home on time.July 2nd - Monday. Chris arrived and before they started work, I told him I used 1 gallon of the paint and offered to go and buy another gallon so he would have enough. Chris was upset that I used the paint and was acting like a 9 year old girl. He continued to pout and then he left by 11AM without saying anything other than he was out of paint. I tried calling him 3 times that day, left messages, and he never called me back. I had no clue when he was coming back or what the status was. July 3rd - Tuesday. Chris called at 8:30AM and said he could not come paint that day as he had to go to the airport. He said he would be back Thursday July 5th. My wife was still out of town waiting for the work to be done so she should come back home. I called him several times and he never called me back. In my last voice mail I fired him and told him to come get his crap out of my garage. My wife was forced to stay out of town over the 4th of July and I had to complete the work myself, on the 4th!!July 5th - Thursday, Chris came over in the morning to collect what I owed him for work performed. He did not apologize for walking out, or not calling, or inconveniencing my family for spending the 4th apart and with a house a mess. All he could say was that I inconvenienced him for using 1 gallon of the paint that he purchased. Really? What a d*****-bag!!!!I would caution anyone from using Chris for any work...period! He proved to be flaky, unprofessional, and his work is average at best. Examples of his work....There are brush marks in the trim work, paint droppings on my tile and hardwoods, and I had to go back and touch up dozens of spots he either missed or went outside the cut line. And above all that, he strongly discouraged us from using the colors we selected with our decorator. Shame on us for listening, as now I had to repaint a room with our original selected color. There are a lot of painters out there who do better work and whom show up when they are supposed to. In fact painters are a dime a dozen... Don't use Chris and get burned like me!!
Description of Work: Work to be performed was interior painting of living room, fireplace, entertainment center, bedroom, bathroom, and hall entryway. And also touch up baseboard trim on rooms being painted.
