+ -1 moreIt went perfectly! I called at 9:15 a.m. and described the problem and the size of the fixture. The electrician arrived (after calling to see it was convenient) around 12:20 p.m. He was polite, neat, efficient. When he could not reach the office to get a price on the part, he did not leave a bill but said they would mail the bill. I had been quoted a $78 first hour fee (plus parts) and was told I could have him do other work during the hour if the first job did not take the full time. I had nothing else for him to do but I was impressed with the offer.
Description of Work: Replaced a failing and very noisy ballast in an fluorescent fixture in our Great Room---took about 20 minutes.

+ 0 moreI had to call them back to find out what my estimate was and if they wanted to do the work. When I called them back, I was told they had been busy. I spoke with Thomas and he assured me that he would get someone out to do the repairs. Dan Brown came out and he was pleasant, informative and neat with his work. I asked him questions about some items I didn't know about and he answered me in a way I understood. He was very pleasant and everything works great. After the initial problem of getting someone to call me and then getting them to call back with the estimate, I was very pleased with the work. I would recommend them to do work for my friends. Since I added to what I asked in the initial quote, the price was higher.
Description of Work: Replaced broken light fixture, ran a new line and added light switch for basement light, replaced light fixtures with no pull chains, repaired broken light switch's.

+ 0 moreThe service provider was very efficient and business like. They performed the work in two visits. They got a lot accomplished in an efficient manner. The work was performed at an agreed hourly rate. I was charged for 7.25 hours, which included travel time for two visits. I thought that was maybe a little excessive. Overall, they did the job I wanted done at a fair price.
Description of Work: They installed three new ceiling fixtures in place of existing fixtures, and installed a new doorbell transformer and chime. All fixtures were provided except for the transformer. They changed the bad switch on the ceiling fan. They disconnected and removed security system devices that were no longer in working order. They installed two new outside fixtures mounted by the garage door. They installed a new spot light fixture at the roof line at the rear patio.

+ -1 moreVery nice job - the installation was clean and tidy. I should have left out the vacuum cleaner for the electrician because I'm sure he would have vacuumed had he had one! Thanks; the estimator is very honest and good customer facing skills, Thomas Brown. I commend his people and professional skills. Thomas was also accessible via phone before and after job when I had "nitty gritty" type questions to ask him.

Description of Work: They replaced the service entrance upgrading from 100 amp to 200 amp. As the new location was on the opposite side of the house as the original location, quite a few electrical lines were rerouted. They also added 3 new lines to the second floor for a garbage disposal, bathroom GFCI outlet and a window A/C unit.

No bid was provided at the time, and it was several days before I got a phone call with pricing information. The bid was in line with the other ones I received. I have not made a decision yet on who I will use, but would be willing to consider Wirken for the job.

Description of Work: Some of our lights upstairs went down and we were expecting houseguests the next week. Also we had various and sundry other little things like the basement stair light didn't work and two closet lights didn't work. When the electrician came out, we both were called about where was the sub panel and neither of us knew. So in finding the sub panel, the electrician found a problem with the air conditioner. The upstairs zone of our house in the utility room could have been a huge problem for us because the air conditioner was leaking like crazy all over the floor and causing a leak through the dining room ceiling and onto the dining room table below. Well, he immediately called for more help and the owner came out and they got the air conditioner turned off and my husband came from his office and got they all got the water soaked up. By the time I got home from my office, the disaster was contained and the electrical all got fixed!

+ 0 moreI was very pleased with the work. The company sent a repairman (name unknown) the day after I contacted them. He was prompt and finished the job in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this company. The pricing was very reasonable.
Description of Work: There was a short in a ceiling fan/light, which four prior electricians could not fix. Wirken determined what the problem was and corrected it. This also corrected a problem with my light switch, which another company had said was a much more severe problem. Also had a light fixture installed in the bathroom.

We had another company replace two the week before and they charged more for two than Wirken charged for ten! Plus, the first company spent one hour on two and John replaced ten in just under two hours without having to turn off the electricity as company #1 did.
Description of Work: Replaced ten electrical outlets with GFCI receptacles to eliminate the need for adaptors.
