Good; arrived about 9 am, finished about 3 pm. No problems encountered.

Bought a house that had been unoccupied for a couple of years. There was a big stink coming from the chimney. I wanted the chimney inspected to ensure the safety of the occupants in the house, so I called Sleep Easy because they were rated well on Angie's List. They were 3 hours late for the appointment, but called me ahead of time to tell me they would be late. Very courteous and knowledgeable. Inspected the chimney and educated me on the way a chimney works so I could better understand. The guy also cleaned the chimney out - raccoons had nested in there. Luckily for me (and him!), they had left and not died there. But what they left behind was a bit of a mess and Sleep Easy made sure it was all cleaned and disinfected before they left the premises. This is a dirty job and the guy doing it was not in the least disturbed by the mess. I was very impressed with his good attitude and experise.

In the report it says to repair and/or replace the loose and missing mortar in the chimney flue system, or install an appropriate flue liner system. Then I later called the company to get an estimate of what it would cost to do that. I figured I would just repair it since we are moving. They were not going to give it to me and were just going to give it to my relocation company. It was rather clear that I was the customer. Finally I got the estimate and it was to install a flue liner. I called them back and explained that I just wanted to repair it. The owner then told me that I can't repair it and I have to install the flue liner even though they mentioned in the report that replacing it was an option. I did some research on companies that can fix the flue without getting a flue liner. After some research I decided to go with another company named Flues Brothers. The estimate Sleep Easy gave me a quote of about $2400. What Flues Brothers was able to do was just around $1050. Another thing that I want to mention is that they did not give a video inspection of the chimney. You should never have anything done to your chimney unless they have proof of the issue.

We had Sleep Easy out to inspect our chimneys and give us an estimate for some mortar repair on the front of our home. When my husband set up the inspection, he was told by the woman he spoke with that a video chimney inspection would be $65 each. When the inspector arrived and looked at our chimneys, he said that he did not need to do a video inspection because he was able to visualize the chimney well enough to see a crack that needed repair. We received an estimate of $450 to repair areas of cracked mortar on the front of our home, and $3000 to repair our chimney which included a liner. When I got the estimate on the brick work I was concerned about the mortar matching since our mortar is an off-white color, but the man who provided the estimate assured me that it would be a close match, but not exact. I was fine with that. Even though we did not get a video inspection, we were still charged the $65 for each chimney. When I called to inquire about the charge, I spoke with the owner/manager about what my husband was told that the charges would be. The man was quite rude and short with me, and he let me know that the woman was his wife and she had been doing this job for X number of years and she knew what the prices were and that my husband didn't hear her correctly. Wow! That attitude was uncalled for! I informed my husband that I did not want to use them for any work on our home because of that man's attitude towards me, but we at least needed the brick work done on the front of our home asap because we were having leaks in our basement and we thought that would fix it. We decided to go ahead with the brick work repair, and based on the service from that we would have them continue with more brick repair and also have our chimney repaired by them. On January 25th, 2012, we had Sleep Easy out to repair the mortar on the front of our house. We had the areas for repair marked that we got the estimate on. My husband was home that day, and when he confirmed the color matching with the two young men who came to do the repair work one of them pointed to an area of mortar on the wall and said that it would be very close to that color. My husband told them to go ahead with the work. Further along in the day, the men came to my husband and told him that they had done over $700 worth of work and that their boss had called them and told them they were expected at another job. We later noticed that they did not finish the work around one of our windows and a few other areas around it. My husband was confused as to why the price was so different, and one of the guys said that the man who gave us the estimate on the brick work was let go from his position for providing low estimates. The guys left quickly, but before they left my husband had asked them if he could call in to their office later that afternoon to pay since he did not have a check with him and they said that was fine. A short time later the owner/manager called and was rude to my husband and demanded to know why his workers weren't paid. My husband had to explain to him the arrangement that he made with the workers that he was going to call in to pay. We noticed that the mortar that the young guys had replaced was dark gray, and was nowhere near matching the mortar on our house. It was also spread out on the surrounding bricks, like they did not take the time to wipe it up as they went along. We gave it several days to cure, but the mortar never lightened up or changed color. My husband called and spoke with the owner/manager and was told to give it a while to finish curing. We gave it about 2 1/2 weeks and still no change in color. We called again to see if someone could come out and see what could be done to fix it since the front of our home looks awful with the drastically mismatched mortar. We set up an appointment for the following week for the owner to come take a look at it. A day or two before the appointment the man called and had to cancel, so we called back to set up an appointment for the following week on a wednesday. His appointment time was for 12:30, and I had another appointment with a different company at 2:30. Well, 12:30 came and went and he did not show up or call. At 1:00 I called to see if he might be lost and need directions to our home, and the woman I spoke with said that she had spoken with my husband and they changed the time to 2:30, which was not true. She had called and left a message on my husbands voicemail to see if they could change the time, but she never spoke with him and neither me nor my husband knew about the message until later that evening when we got off from work, and it was too late to call their office. Since the second appointment was missed, we scheduled a third appointment for the man to come out the following wednesday. The evening before the scheduled appointment, the man called and told me that he would not come out and that he was no longer going to do brick work/repair on homes. I told him that I was not happy with the color of the mortar, and that we were told by 2-3 different employees of his that the mortar would be close to what color we have, not the dark gray that they replaced it with, and that I know there are different colors of mortar other than dark gray. The guy said that the dark gray was the only color of mortar they use and that there was nothing he could do but come back and grind out the mortar. I did not want to pay $450 for nothing so I told him no. I asked him again if he would at least come out and see what his workers did to the front of our home and he said no he would not because they did the work that they were contracted for, they did more than $450 worth of work, there was nothing he could do for us and that we were just going to have to not be happy with it. Since the man was rude to me and my husband pretty much every time we spoke with him, and the fact that he refused to even come to our home to see what his workers had done, I give Sleep Easy an F rating! They lost out on $3000+ in further business from us. Since my last conversation with the man, we had two professional masons out who have been in the brick business for 10-25 years to look at repairing what Sleep Easy did to our home. Both said that the work was very poorly done and that they could definitely do a better job. We want nothing more to do with Sleep Easy except to receive our money back for the poor work they did so that we can have it repaired correctly by professionals. I would never recommend this company!! I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. UPDATE (5/29/12): The complaint was not resolved through the BBB. The company refuses to refund our money for the damage they did to our home. Our next step will be either to take them to court or to have a local news network problem solver team out to see and report on it. A company should never treat their customers in such a way. We have been continually brushed aside and put off. They have refused to even come to evaluate what they did. Very poor customer service.

I was moderately happy with this guy. It was a pretty sloppy job. He was okay but he didn't need to do very much. It was fine. My satisfaction was sort of neutral. I wasn't really thrilled or displeased either. The price was fine; it was average. I would probably not use them again.

They did a great job with it. I am very happy with them. I took bids from virtually everybody in town that did that sort of chimney work. They weren't the low bid and they weren't the high bid but based on what needed to be done I felt that they could do it best. One guy was like $1500 higher. The quality of their service was good. They were there when they said they would be. They were careful when they were working and they cleaned up after themselves. They did a really spectacular job. Everything they did was really good.

They arrives on time, they were professional, well prepared and knowledgeable. During the inspection they discovered that the chimney (very tall double walled) had experienced a chimney fire at an earlier date and had effectively rendered the chimney useless and dangerous. This was disappointing since we were hoping to heat with wood this winter but we were glad they caught the problems in the chimney. They provided us with a quote, for replacement and repair that I provided to my landlord. I will report again on the quality of work if they are the ones that complete the repairs.

Fantastic experience, really great to work with. I would highly recommend them for anything related to fireplaces or chimneys, from new construction to repair work.
