I selected Portfolio to do my kitchen remodel after I had several other companies who gave me a proposal over my $30000 budget.Portfolio said they could give me what I wanted for that. Initially they were very responsive. The one problem I noticed initally was that they subcontracted out the work so I had to work with the subcontractor separately from them. The cabinets I ordered were measured incorrectly (they came out 3 times and still got it wrong). the finish was not uniform so Portfolio had to come out and restain part of the cabinets. The granite was good (they worked throug Nebraska Furniture Mart) the tile was good and so was the installation of the eletrical. I had major problems with the wood floor that the subcontractor ordered throug ProSource. It is a prefinished flooring and after it was installed i noticed numerouse scratches and dents. They replaced pieces of flooring 3 times and it is still not right. Prosource refuses to do any more. My contractor feels the flooring is defective, but neither will replace it, so I'm left with a poor quality wood floor. The subcontractor has left several items unfinished and has not returned to correct them. My entry way marble floor was damaged when a worker spilled drinks on the floor and didn't wipe it up. Also the marble was scrated when the appliances were moved. The floor betwen the hallway and kitchen is not finished. The wood just butts up against the marble. Portfolio promised to manage the remodel, but often left me doing the work directly with the contractor. I asked for help in resolving the problems but they just had the contractor call me.I'm living with an expensive unfinished project.

My experience with Portfolio started out well. They were very responsive to my initial inquiries and I liked how Gerrie asked me to really think about what I wanted out of my kitchen - it helped me clarify what kind of functionality I was looking for. Things fell apart after my first consultation. I guess my budget ($30,000) just wasn't enough to get their A game. The other companies I was working with were able to give me a plan that included the layout changes I wanted as well as a visual plan of what the kitchen would look like. Portfolio just gave me a list of cabinets and an appliance quote (which were 20% higher than my budget) and didn't suggest any real design other than to say I could do anything I wanted. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. You might have a different experience if you're doing a $100,000 remodel, but I don't think Portfolio's the place to go if you're looking to do a lot with less.
Description of Work: Portfolio was one of three companies I had prepare a bid for a full kitchen remodel
