Neighborhood Garage Door Service of Kansas City

I had them come out and replace my garage door on 1 November 2017, spending over $1000, because the door was damaged due to the top panel bowing in. 18 months later (25 February 2019), I was having the same issue with the garage door and called them back. Their technician came out and replaced a strut that had gone bad because it was put in the WRONG PLACE on the garage door. To repair the FIRST TECHNICIAN'S MISTAKE, they charged me $200. I talked to their customer service folks and got zero satisfaction. No refund, no taking ownership of the issue, no responsibility taken for an incorrect installation. 10 months later (14 December 2019), it did the exact same thing. This time, I called Precision Door Service. Their technician came out and replaced the INCORRECT (too small) strut with the right one. Today, over 2.25 years later, my door is still working perfectly. I will NEVER use Neighborhood Garage Door Service again and I have told everyone that has asked exactly what transpired. Their work is shoddy and they do NOT stand behind it, even when it is THEIR technicians who make the mistake. Do NOT use this company unless you want to waste your money!

Beware! I called a local company for a repair - very basic repair - replace a cable. Got a reservation for the next day... so far so good. BUT: at this point my service was refer to a "neighborhood garage door service" company which then rescheduled to the end of the day and wanted to charge me $250 for a $10 cable plus labor. All it took is 30 minutes end-to-end. Found someone who was willing to do it for $70. Don't work with them!!!

I wish I had read a few more reviews on this company before I finally caved in and made an apt for their $39.95 "lube and tune" special. I had been seeing this ad in the val-pak for a couple of years now and knew that our garage doors needed some attention but hadn't called until now. They were friendly and prompt on the phone and could come out the next day. They sent me a text about an hour before our designated apt time to see if they would be able to come a little early because the technician was already in my area. We agreed but when the guy got there he spent about 10 minutes spraying lubricant on the tracks of our 2 garage doors and then I got a call from my husband (I was only a few blocks away, on my way home). He was being pressured into a $600 repair and wanted to know what I thought. I said, "no way!" and was home in a few minutes. When I got there, I was greeted by very sketchy guy who immediately started in on the major repairs that our doors needed and that he would make us a good offer if we did the repair today. When I stated that we only wanted to do the tune-up, that we were aware that we needed to make some repairs on our doors (one of them is very noisy along the track but works) he said that we would be sorry and that if we waited we would be looking at a $1000 repair. He said, "I'll be back for your $1000 repair-you'll see!". Again we had to stand firm on only wanting the tune and lube. Emphasis on the lube. Later my husband said he only lubed the track in a few places and did nothing more. It was an $80 lesson!! I was even told that my attitude was "getting better" as the apt went on. He was adamant we do the repair right away. We CLEARLY were baited with the advertised "special" for the sole purpose of making a bigger sale. He even sized up our house, making comments on it and asking what we did for a living, etc. Super sketchy!!

It went well (professional, on time etc.) but the price floored me, and the discounts offered/ advertised were less than 5% of overall fee. Felt like bait and switch.

Excellent! Called around 10am on a Sunday, and the work was done by 4pm this afternoon. Kenny and Mike were very professional, gave me options of what I could or could not do to get the door working like new. They did what I wanted and the door works like new for what I consider a reasonable price, especially on a Sunday. Would definitely recommend this company and this crew. Will call them again!

Very good service! Zachary showed up at 8PM when everyone else would have already called it a day. Very professional and personable, he listened to me, and then immediately went to work. The garage door is not acting strange and we could not replicate what had been happening. Despite this he checked out the electric eyes and made sure everything was proper and lined up. We really appreciated his willingness to work so late and help us out.

repairman was prepared and had all needed tools, provided service options broken out by price and need/want list. its been 15 years since I had the garage door opener put in and never had it maintained (shame on me!!) so I cant complain about any costs. I called at 2pm today and they were there by 430pm. That is what I found AMAZING!! I would use this company again.

Honest and didn't pressure me to do anything I didn't need. I really appreciated that part because the people I had out previously told me things they later told me I didn't need.

From start to finish everyone I have spoken to from this company was outstanding. They honored all the coupons we wanted to apply for the service and was very accommodating to my wife's work schedule. They showed up in a timely manner and wrapped everything up in time for my wife to get to work.

In Summary - Seems to be a crowd sourced (what I mean by this is no central office or staff.. they have a huge database of repair people who probably take a cut of 35%-60% of whatever they charge a customer) free lance company of extremely questionable quality and pricing. They broke my new garage door then tried to charge me $325 in labor to "look" it it basically - when I believe the damage they caused probably means I need a new motor. Wonder how much they would have charged - after charging $325 to "service" the broken motor to install a anew one? What I mean by crowd sourced is no central office or staff.. they have a huge database of repair people who take a cut of 35%-60% of whatever they charge a customer - so it is extremely beneficial to them to charge the customer as much as possible and the quality of staff is highly variable with no quality control or training. Sure this works great for customers if you are talking about Uber - but garage door repair? Not so much. In December of 2015 I called them to come and do a check up on the garage. I bought this through angie's list. No problem. A month later, the garage door has stopped working. It goes up one foot then comes back down. I called and asked what kind of technician was sent in December and asked for confirmation of exactly what was done in December. The person who answered the phone, who was a woman tried to transfer me to a service person. It didn't work and then I was transferred to someone else who called himself, "Michael" the senior service technician. Michael told me all the workers were licensed, insured, etc. He also indicated that in December my garage door was lubed and the chain was tightened. So back to present day. The service technician arrives very quickly and calls to tell me that the repairs (labor only) will be $325. This is a one year old garage door. I ask what was the problem and he says the door has heavy spots and then he lists off about 5 other items or issues which are related to a problem with the garage door caused by someone over-tightening the chain. I informed him that the "someone" who over-tightened the chain was his company and he said it wasn't. I called the office and asked them to help. When I called the office I got another person. I asked for "Michael the Senior service technician" and he had NO idea who I was talking about. Regardless, he called the technician. The Technician went back into the garage for exactly 2.5 minutes and the garage door was working again. Do now know what he did. The next day - garage door broken again.

Technician arrived and was finished within four hours of my call. This is the fastest response I have ever received from a technician for something home maintenance related.

Prompt, professional, diagnosed the issue quickly. Friendly, courteous, and fixed it. Didn't take long, were on time, called in advance. All good. I recommend these folks! And I don't recommend everyone!!
