They may be exceptional craftsmen, but they seem to be struggling managing the business. I have tried to get them to schedule an appointment for an estimate for 15 days, leaving several unreturned messages. Their main phone line says, "The mailbox is full and can not receive any messages at this time," most of the time. So, their initial customer service has been, for me, non-existent. Maybe they're better once you become a client, but with the voicemail being full most of the time, I don't know how you'd get through.

I often write way too much when creating reviews, so with that in mind, I want to give a summary upfront. Brandon came in and cleaned up the mess we left from attempting to remodel our bathroom ourselves. He was able to use the tub we already bought and was willing to work around some specific requests we had. Ultimately, Brandon, Shane, Chris, and others on this crew were terrific. The work is beautiful, seems sturdy, and is almost entirely faultless. KC Renovations Concepts does many things, and I can safely recommend their bathroom remodel without reservation. The long review: We initially called Brandon out after removing our old whirlpool tub, and we wanted a quote for what it would take to do the installation of our new tub, and possibly the whole bathroom. We also contacted another contractor through Home Despot, and Brandon was very competitive in comparison. We were not ready to take the plunge into hiring a professional crew, assuming we could do much of the work ourselves while contracting out a few jobs. A year later, and no significant progress later, we again called Brandon out to clean up our mess. He was professional about the long delay after the initial quote he sent, and we nev00er felt judged for our work or for not hiring help sooner. Once the work started, Brandon and his crew were respectful of our home and our time. During the demolition phase, Brandon and his team found some issues leftover from our house’s construction. Brandon communicated these issues with us and let us know this would delay the project and increase costs. He also explained just how important these issues were to fix for the longevity of our bathroom and home. Shortly after getting the bathroom structurally sound, it was Shane’s turn to start laying the heated floor and tile. Shane’s herringbone on our floor is stunning, and it took a lot of time and skill to lay the floor. This beautiful result required being flexible with Shane on timing. However, a little flexibility netted a fantastic finished product. We also listened to Shane on a few design pieces, such as using a single grout color. Thanks to the collaboration, we ended up with a tile design that is stunning, warm, and one of a kind. After Shane finished the tile work, Chris came in to do some final trim, doing things with the remnants of our old bathroom I could hardly believe. In fact, throughout the entire build, Chris did fantastic work with both the rough and finish carpentry. Both Chris and Shane take evident pride in their work, which shows through in the finished bathroom. Following our first use of our tub, I can find one area for growth for this project. The tub is demonstrating a lot of flex where it pulls away from the silicone sealant around the wall edges of the tub. That said, we bought the tub ourselves, and it was not one with whichBrandon was comfortable. When it was installed, I questioned not using any mortar or foam under the tub to support the weight between the feet. Brandon explained our tub comes with several feet, which when tacked in place are more than enough to support our weight. For my anxieties, though, I will be adding low-expansion foam using the bathtub full of water trick (holds the bottom of the tub in place and prevents the tub from rising. Again, I point out this is not a tub Brandon typically works with, and the instructions with it were terrible. So really, this is more of a reflection of Universal Tubs’ instructions – or lack thereof. The above critique is a relatively minor concern and not one that is likely to occur for most people. As such, I can still whole-heartedly recommend this crew for a bathroom remodel. Each person on the crew acts with professionalism and clearly enjoys their craft. In the age of YouTube, I think many of us believe we can take on majorprojects like this. Unfortunately, when it comes to most of the parts of a bathroom remodel, there is simply no substitute for experience. Just like you would never want an Uber driver fresh off a learner’s permit, you probably don’t want to watch a YouTube video then try to lay tile and install your plumbing. Brandon is not cheap, but he also isn’t ridiculously expensive. Get some bids, but if you want a crew that knows how to create a bathroom that is almost a work of art, look no further!

I am a little late in doing this review, but that only has served to enhance my appreciation for the fantastic job that Brandon Smith and his remarkable crew (Chris, Shane and Jeff) accomplished! No detail was missed (and many that were unnoticed initially), incredible collaboration and suggestions, obvious care and craftsmanship was exhibited with all aspects and stages of construction. Brandon beautifully finished my basement last year, so i knew immediately who would complete the remodel/restoration of my home this year.

Brandon does an excellent job and knows exactly what I wanted and totally delivered!
Brandon and his team are the best of the best! We could not be happier with our basement finish. Our basement was not ideal to finish, but Brandon made it happen, and it far exceeded our expectations with a beautiful living room, bedroom, and bathroom! All the small touches, beautiful craftsmanship, and attention to detail really makes our basement more than we could have imagined, and much more than just a basic finished basement. Brandon was always accessible, really listened to what we wanted (even when we changed our minds multiple times and that meant completely redoing something that was already finished or ordered), and was always willing to do what he could to ensure we were happy! In addition, Brandon and his crew, went above and beyond for us, far beyond just the basement finish. They did extra work for us around our house that wasn’t part of our contract or basement, but things they knew needed to be fixed. We genuinely enjoyed having them around. Brandon, Chris, and Shane are 3 of the nicest guys around and we are so thankful we found KC Renovation Concepts to do our basement!

We hired Brandon and his guys to tear out a bathtub and replace with a tiled walk-in shower, new tile floors and new vanity. All went pretty well until the shower door install. We had ordered a barn door style shower door with one fixed panel and one sliding panel at a crazy cost of $1650.00 as they were custom (Brandon convinced us we needed them to fit the space correctly and to be happy with the look), clear with NO towel bars. What the installer brought was not at all what we ordered, it was kind of a barn door hardware, with two sliding doors with towel bars. We immediately called Brandon, who said he would check on it. He then sent us an e-mail with revised doors that would make the doors more like the ones we ordered, we compromised on the hardware since the holes were already in our new tile. We signed off on the new drawings and assumed he would follow through and order them, he has not. We have since found out from the vendor, Brandon won't respond to our texts, calls, or e-mails, that when they received the original order they told Brandon that model would not work for our shower configuration and Brandon, without consulting with us, ordered a completely different door. If he had shown us what they were suggesting we would NOT have ordered that style and would have gone in a different direction. So, to recap, Brandon ordered the wrong doors WITHOUT our input, he made the decision on how to spend our money, we are NOT happy and he is avoiding our calls, texts, and e-mails. Now we know that mistakes are made, however, a contractor with integrity would own up to his mistake and make it right. Brandon has NOT done this. We will never use or recommend him again.

We were hired by you to do a previous bathroom remodel on your hall way bathroom last year and you were very happy with how it turned out or I would assume you would not have called us back for a 2nd remodel job especially on your master bath. If I rated a company "D" for pricing and "C" for quality then I assure you I would not use them again. However as you have told us many times we do great work and are very easy to work with. I never convince anyone to do anything they don't want to do. You wanted a very nice tiled shower with a CUSTOM barn door style slider which from my vendor who builds our CUSTOM shower doors charges $1650 for that door. I let you order through my company and did not mark the price up $1 to be nice so you could get the door you wanted. The way your shower size and setup is it comes as a bypass with the barn door roller hardware as you wanted. You did not like the towel bar mounted to the glass. They just needed to simply remove the towel bars and install the finger pulls in like you wanted and all would be well. You wanted just 1 finger pull on each piece of glass. We went ahead and installed the shower doors anyways so you would not be without a full functioning shower. The only way we could change the glass to just 1 finger pull per door was to purchase a new set of glass. So not only did I not mark the door up $1 but I spent over $800 to have new glass made for the doors just to make you guys happy. I know I can sleep at night knowing I did everything in my power to make you happy but that is obviously not possible. You will never hire me again because I would never work for you again. I really do feel sorry for the next contractor who gets stuck working on your next project.

Hired Brandon in Aug of last year to finish a basement. Basement work started in Nov, and were contracted to be done prior to March 1st with a contracted amount to be deducted from the payment if it went past March. It's now the first week in June and we still aren't done, yet he continues to ask for more money. We have already paid upwards of 30K+ for all the work and despite him being more than 3 months past the drop dead contract date now refuses to finish unless I give him more money. On top of that, his last bill is full of erroneous charges for things that were originally included in the quote like cabinet handles, door hardware, etc.... He has lied about the status of the project multiple times and lead us to believe multiple times that we would be done and then weeks later we still aren't complete. I've had to cancel multiple planned events over this time period due to his poor time management and lack of project management skills. 0/10 would not use him ever again. Update 6/17/19 Review Text: Found out why he bailed on the job at the very end when the sink and countertops were going in... turns out he installed the entire drain line too high and now I either have to have the entire drain line corrected, which includes ripping out cabinets and drywall to reposition the drain pipe, or have an under the sink drain pump put in. either option will cost a substantial amount to fix. Can't wait to find out what other surprises are in store... In response to your review on the services that were rendered at your request I will answer each point stated. The basement you hired my company to perform was not started in November but was started on December 5, 2018. As my contract states the projected date for the project to be complete was March 1, 2019. However the reasons for the contract finish date extension are as follows: Invoice #1136 with a due date of December 29,2018 and was paid on January 5, 2019 which was 6 days late. Invoice #1146 with a due date of February 8, 2019 and was paid on February 22, 2019 which was 14 days late. Invoice #1154 with a due date of Feb 28, 2019 and was paid on March 4, 2019 which was 4 days late. Invoice #1163 with a due date of April 5, 2019 and was paid on April 12, 2019 which was 7 days late. Invoice #1176 with a due date of June 6, 2019 and still is not paid. It is evident by the payments listed above were not made in a timely manner. Because of these late payments work that was scheduled to be performed in your home had to continuously be rescheduled. You cannot by any means expect someone to work on your home, be there every single day , then decide to pay your invoices when convenient for you. You are correct I am going to ask for more money when money is owed to my company. The changes in your contract per your request that were not included in your original contract are as follows but not limited to: Custom built vanity Water line for ice maker fridge in basement Upgraded tile Custom door Computer Desk top Matte black door knobs and hinges Wall scone lighting Paint color changes Upgrade shower door allowance Upgrade counter tops from laminate to granite. Trim work around beams with table top and outlets 3 way electrical add on circuits All new stair treads and risers with stair skirt Sound proof insulation Extra ventilation fan in basement This is why before every job I do there is legal contract that is signed between both parties. The items I have charged for are add ons or changes to the contract. When allowances go over or add ons are made they must be paid for before completion of the job. In the contract the ceilings were supposed to be painted all black 1 color and laminate counter tops. Once we were into the job you wanted 4 different ceiling colors and wanted granite counter tops which are obviously much more expensive. On one instance I asked for a decision to be made and was told I would have to wait until you got back in town. Multiple change orders were made, add-ons, late invoice payments, and failure to pay the last invoice that was sent is why I did not install the granite and why your project was delayed. We completed all items on the final list and simply needed a payment before I would have the granite installed. I have numerous texts and emails stating how you loved the work, loved how great we were to work with, how we do quality, and how we were way better then any company you have worked with before. Once you realized that I would not put in the granite without a payment you proceeded with your plan of trying to make my company look bad. You wanted to get all your add ons and granite at no charge. Our quality of work and A + customer service speaks volumes. We do great work and take pride in everything we do. You must pay for the services that were rendered in your home. In response to your drain line issue I cannot speak for other contractors you hire or DIY work that is done. You refused to pay for the granite I had ordered and setup for install. The sink cannot be installed until counter tops are installed. Had you paid your invoice I would of had the granite in 2 weeks ago, sink installed, and plumbing done. We both signed a legal contract which has everything listed and details of what is and what is not included. It states that add-ons and change orders would be extra. Failure on your end to make the proper payments on time, change order requests, and add-ons were cause for the delay. You refused to pay the last invoice to which I could not finish the final part of your project.
We had them redo our bathroom added exhaust fan ,tiled shower, and tile floor with new plumbing did good professional job very happy with installation. Then 6 months later developed a small water leak from a cap on bottom of valve body from defective cap no fault only manufacturer gave them a call got quick response and repaired! Thanks Brandon
We hired Brandon and his crew to tear out an old brick fireplace and wood panel wall and replace it with drywall and added windows and also framed and wired for a new fireplace insert and stone. Brandon went above and beyond and was great to work with! He was prompt with answering questions and was innovative with new ideas when we encountered problems to our original plan. He always had a quick solution and made sure we were in the loop and ok with the new plan. Him and his crew were so nice and worked really hard to get the job done in a timely manner. We are so pleased with the job they did and have many more jobs in our house we plan to use them for in the future!! I cannot speak highly enough of Brandon and his crew!
Brandon Smith (KC Renovation Concepts) has done many home-related projects for me during the past few years. He did a wonderful job on all of these projects, and his prices were very reasonable! Brandon is a kind, friendly, caring, yet a professional craftsperson in the area of home repair & renovation projects. I would trust my home keys and free access to my home. You would be fortunate to have him as your home repair person, or doing a home renovation project. I highly recommend Brandon & KC Renovation Concepts!

Not done. But it's going great! Another week or so away. So far, it's gorgeous! Finished last week and my basement is beautiful... far exceeded my expectations! Brandon and Chris (and the other crew members) are true professionals and craftsmen. I think what I admired most was the sense of collaboration with innovation; always searching for a better idea, always with an eye for detail. I never felt something was done simply as "good enough". Nothing was finished until it was "great"!

I wish there was a way to grade higher than an A! This is the 2nd time we have used KC Renovation Concepts for a backyard fence. Brandon and his team do exceptional work. They are very professional, helpful, and a true pleasure to work with. They took the time to measure out each post and picket to be completely symmetrical. Our fence is absolutely beautiful! Brandon does so much more than fences too. When the time comes to have additional work done on our house we plan to call Brandon. We know his pricing will be fair and he will be honest helping guide us through the process just like he did with both of our fences. We can't say enough wonderful things about KC Renovation Concepts. I brag on them any chance I get.
It was great working with every person involved on our bathroom update. They were all very friendly, professional and prompt.
