Even got the very tight fitting countertop onto the cabinets without scratching the paint on the walls, which was great, because we did not have any left!

Description of Work: Kevin installed a microwave and oven. He had to retrofit fit it for an existing cabinet where there had been no microwave. He removed drawers and made it look like it had always had a microwave and oven. He also removed a dated trim piece from my cabinets and patched some drywall.

 + 1 moreCalled Kevin and he came out and measured and then e mailed us the estimate. We were very pleased with the cost. The Utility room is off the kitchen and he said he could match our cabinets in the kitchen so that the utility room cabinets would look they were made when the kitcen ones were and not several years later. They were installed and look perfect. A perfect match with the ones in the kitchen and made us extra shelves so we could put as many in as we wished. He is very professional, and a pleasant guy to work with. No problems at all and will call him again if we need any cabinets. Will recommend him to our friends here.

 + 8 moreThis was a complete remodel of our master bathroom, master bedroom and walk in closet. This included removing and replacing a whirlpool bathtub, vanity, shower, mirror, toilet, floor tile, faucets, and all of the extras. This meant taking much of the area down to the bare walls and striping existing wall paper. He did a complete demo on the bathroom, replaced sheetrock, and built a custom tile shower, new tiles on the floor. Had to run new electrical wires for outlets and lighting. Finished it all with a great paint job. Especially impressive he built a complete beautiful custom vanity that accommodated a staircase outcropping to make the best use of space. He was a great find for an individual that would come in and give a bid, help plan the layout, and was able to answer any concerns or questions. Kevin kept us informed about progress and issues, had high standards for quality workmanship and accommodated our requests for changes if we had concerns along the way.
Description of Work: Kevin redid our master bath, bedroom and walk-in closet. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of the job. Kevin was great to work with. He did all of the work himself and was very professional and timely.

Details are important in cabinet making-- and he used them all. His work is beautiful. I appreciated his communication skills throughout the process. I received an emailed proposal, let him know I was happy with it and had the cabinet, and door installed within a week. I call that professionalism. Besides all that, he just has a great attitude & has a smile on his face all the time. He made it so easy. Thanks Kevin! I'll recommend you to all my friends.

 + 0 moreIt was horrible and I cannot recommend this provider in any way. After surveying the job, it took him months to come back. At first there was no response from him, but as he was not paid any money this was just annoying. Finally he responded to email contact and would say he would come but then not show up OR contact us that he would not be coming. When he finally did show up, he did not paint the wall with the paint we provided. The shelves were installed but the appropriate edge to hold the bottles was not. Basically he put up two boards and charged us $550. My husband wound up painting the wall, now having to "cut in" around the shelves and installed a brass railing on the shelves to hold the bottles. My husband's work was beautiful, Kevin Bainter's was not. Unfortunately my husband is not available for hire, but I would definitely look elsewhere for someone other than KB Finishes. And yes, we were ripped off. What he did was not worth $550
Description of Work: The provider was supposed to paint the wall under the counter of the bar and install two 6-7 foot long shelves with an edge that would hold liquor bottles

He also helped us decide whether something we wanted was a good value as we were remodeling with the intent to sell in about three years. The master bath project took longer than expected, but then there were changes that had to be made as described above, and they also had to take two snow days due to a bad storm last February. Otherwise, things went very smoothly. Kevin is very easy to work with and very accommodating.
Description of Work: Kevin and his crew did several projects this year for us. This review contains details of all of them. 1. We first contracted with Kevin to completely remodel our master bath. After discussing our ideas, estimating and scheduling the project, they totally demolished the bath and rebuilt it from the bare floor up. They removed an old molded tub/shower, tore up the old tile and moved walls to enlarge the bathroom. Then, they painted the walls and refinished and painted the ceiling, installed new floor tile, built a large new onyx shower with glass doors, built and installed a custom-made vanity with onyx counter top and a custom-made floor-to-ceiling linen cabinet, and installed a new toilet. Important to note is that once they got to work on the bathroom, they found that they had to make modifications to the vanity and cabinet that they hadn't expected due to some of the originally unknown structural elements of the room. They quickly accommodated it by changing the size of the vanity, the cabinet and the counter top so they were still able tol install everything as we had specified. The bathroom looks amazing and is such a great a pleasure to use. 2. While Kevin's crew was working on the tile in the bathroom, Kevin designed and he and his crew installed a back splash in our kitchen which has significantly enhanced the look of the room and protects the wall behind the sink. It has really brought out the colors in our granite counter top. 3. We had Kevin and crew back a couple months later to paint the entire interior of our 2,500 sq. foot home, including all walls, ceilings, and woodwork. They prepped all walls, did some ceiling repairs and texturizing, and Kevin consulted with us on colors. (We changed colors in all rooms, and they accommodated that well.) The house looks so much better and feels like new. We love it. 4. Finally, we called Kevin back once more to paint the grout on the floors of our kitchen, laundry, guest bath and foyer and seal the grout on our back splash and master bath floor. He told us where to find the grout paint so we could see and choose the color. Then he got the paint and did all the work himself in one day. It looks so much brighter and is easier to clean. I'm happy about that!

We presented Kevin with the list of what remained to be done and he was able to complete most of the work in two weeks time. He is very skilled and does high quality work in a very professional manner.
Description of Work: Kevin finished off a kitchen remodel that was not able to be completed by another contractor. He handled a list of about 15 details including the cabinet molding, specialized cabinet modifications (including a doggie hideaway in a floor cabinet), Blum soft-close on all cabinets, over and under cabinet LED lighting, general painting of the area, electrical outlets on the kitchen island, floor trim around cabinets and stairs.

Kevin and his team were flexible enough to handle a few increases to the scope of the work. I would recommend K B Finishes for any painting work and I plan to use them for a future bathroom re-model in the spring.

The work area was cleaned up every day and he and his employee were always conscientious of the noise level (working around our baby's nap times!). The process went much smoother than we expected. His bid was within our budget and he turned our vision into a reality for our home. We will continue to use him for all future projects and will recommend him to anyone!
Description of Work: Complete transformation of our home: Full master bath remodel - everything removed down to the studs, new flooring, new vanity with built in electrical for hair styling tools (awesome!), new storage cabinet, toilet, custom mirror, lighting and large onyx collection shower with dual shower heads, removed popcorn from ceiling in bathroom and master bedroom and did a knockdown texture, painted trim and walls of bathroom and bedroom. Kitchen remodel - painted cabinets white and added crown molding, new tile backsplash, new granite countertops, all new light fixtures (added can and pendant lighting), removed popcorn from ceiling in kitchen and hallway and did knockdown textured ceilings, painted walls and trim, built a new custom railing (separating kitchen level from living room) and down the stairs with new wood and iron spindles for a modern look. Living room makeover - new custom mantle built and painted existing wood panels up to the vaulted ceiling to match cabinets in kitchen, painted walls and trim. We had our wood floors refinished with a different company and Kevin matched the stain of the mantle and railing to the new wood floors. Replaced all light switches and outlets throughout the house from beige to white.

He told me he would send me his proposal within the next few days even though he was going to be out of town on vacation. He emailed me his proposal within the time frame he committed. I received two other proposals that were similarly priced but based on the professionalism of Kevin we decided to go with him. He showed up for the job exactly at the time we agreed to and did an excellent job of installing the cabinets. Kevin had to go the extra mile on several parts of the installation because the person from HD who did the measuring and design apparently measured incorrectly for several cabinets requiring Kevin to make modifications for them to fit. I will definitely use Kevin again if I have any type of remodeling needs that I am not ready to take on myself.

Description of Work: Kevin disappeared. He came out promptly to see what my project involved and seemed very professional. He emailed later to say he was very busy and appreciated my patience waiting for an estimate, which he promised to provide within a week. I never heard from him again, despite attempts to contact him by text, email and phone. I can only assume that my project was too small for him to fit into his schedule, but I wasted a lot of time waiting for him. All he needed to to was get me the message that he couldn't help me with my project.

Description of Work: Kevin and his assistant reduced the size of two cabinets so that I could have a new stove installed. They had to remake one side of the cabinet and use a saw to cut down the other side. Then they had to use a saw to cut down the counter top so that the stove's glass top would fit. It was a small job for them, I'm sure, but it was very important to me because I couldn't have gotten the stove without this work being done.

 + -1 moreWe interviewed 5 different contractors but because of the difficulty of the cabinet portion of this job only Kevin would take on the job. Plus, my husband liked him instantly (they're both music lovers). I don't think I've seen any contractor spend so much time and effort on getting something completed exactly right. His attention to detail is outstanding. He knew several tricks on putting up the expensive marble tile which no one else knew. He kept us up to date on the progress, showed up on time, cleaned up, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. One of the best contractors we've ever hired.
Description of Work: Install marble backsplash, raise the over-the-stove microwave (it was too low), move electrical as needed and either rebuild or build new cabinets over the microwave.

 + -1 moreKevin, Matt and Aaron did a wonderful job putting our basement back together again! We had a pipe burst the beginning of January that devastated our finished basement. They replaced drywall in almost every room, tiled the bathroom floor, replaced baseboards/trim, pulled up the old carpet tacks, replaced a damage ceiling fan (shooting water from the burst pipe) and painted the entire area (total of 5 areas/rooms). Kevin came out to the house several times before work started to explain the process and offer tile floor suggestions (the bathroom had different flooring). He stated they would begin work on Monday, March 31 and it would take approximately a week. He was true to his word and the work was completed that Saturday. Once the carpet is installed next week, the basement will once again be completely finished! While a burst pipe is nothing we want to ever experience again, we can honestly say the ordeal was made easier by Angie's list, Service Master Clean, K B Finishes and our insurance company. We feel very blessed to have found such outstanding individuals to work with in a time of need.

 + 0 moreIt did not go well. He came out for the estimate and indicated he would draw up some ideas and pricing and get back within a week. Kevin seemed very professional and interested in our project. After a couple of weeks, having never heard back, I sent him an email requesting status. He replied and said that he would provide within a couple days. Indicated he was having "growing pains" with his business. Needless to say, we never heard back from him again. While I can appreciate a heavy workload, I can not understand how somehow can be so unprofessional as to not initiate contact with the prospective customer and provide status. If he was not interested in doing business with us, he should have told us that upfront. Was a complete waste of our time. Very disappointing..
