Google Fiber

If I could give them something worse than an F- I would. These people have lost the phone number that I have had for over 25 years and are no help in getting it back to me. I have called, e-mailed, and gone in on several occasions. I have even written the BBB and FCC. Hopefully, one of them will force them to get of their butts. After that, I guess I will have to go to the media. I will NEVER use this company again. Also, the internet speed is not be any better than the last company I had.

PAID SMALL DEPOSIT UPFRONT, THEN WAS NOTIFIED IT WOULD BE A MONTH OR SO BEFORE THEY INSTALLED OUR NEW SERVICE. ALMOST 3 MONTHS LATER THEY FINALLY DID

We are part of their original experiment with the Google internet so we don't even pay for it, it's free. It has been totally fine.

It took a bit to schedule a good time for the install, however they were very prompt and professional.

I like the quality of the connection.

They started Google Fiber in Kansas City. Since we were the first city, you had to reserve service. It took them about 2 years before they started installing the lines. They started digging up all over the city. They don't let you know when they're coming out to install the lines to the side of your house. I was one of the first homes. They usually put the lines where the power lines - either on the pole or under ground. Since I didn't know when they came out, they put the line on the side of the house I didn't want it on. If I'd known, I'd have had it put on the other side. I contacted them and asked them to move it. They said ok, but they wouldn't repair where they put it. So I have a cable on the side of the home for a service I won't use because it is a crappy service. They're more concerned with getting people signed up than the service. I was going to replace my Time Warner service with them for cable and internet, but I haven't switched. When we first signed up for future service, we paid $10 to reserve service. It was based on the number of people who signed up. The customer service is terrible. When you call the support, they're really nice. But you can't get any one higher on the phone. They say they will get it taken care of or someone will call me, and they never do. I wouldn't use them unless they fix the problem.

It turns out that Google apparently never had any intention of installing fiber on private streets, but that was not mentioned anywhere that I could find. I live on a private street. I received an email in November saying that they were not going to fiber my home, refunding my deposit, and closing my account. If your town is being considered for installation, you might want to make sure they actually fiber the whole town, or disclose which properties will be eligible to be fibered. Google seems to cherry-pick what they can do easily and ignore the rest. In spite of all this, I will probably sign up again if they ever come back to finish the fiberhood installation. I have no other fast internet option.

The install was quick and efficient. The speed of the Internet is much faster than any other providers, however, the wireless router offered by Google Fiber is sub-par and unable to handle the faster Internet speeds offered by the service. I was able to overcome this by connecting my own router, but this is not supported by Google, so it may be challenging if you don't have the technical know-how. The television service is awesome with an easy to use box, multiple remote control options (including the Nexus tablet or the app for iPhone / iPad). Other than the installer, we haven't really had direct contact with Google. Our billing has been consistent and accurate and we have had no service problems requiring a call to customer service. If we were to need customer service, however, I am concerned based on my prior experiences with Google. All-in-all, we are happy with our service through Google and would recommend them to our neighbors.

After they left, 1 of the televisions had a problem. I called support (open 24/7) and they re-booted the tv box involved from their office and everything worked perfectly. It took 2 minutes.

I love Google Fiber internet and cable. Lots of great channels not carried by ATand T and no outages so far. I can record A LOT more shows.

Service and connection were great. They are still growing and have some limitations. Could not get access to some shows ie: (We Channel and Pay for View)

Great experience start to finish. My service will be free for 5 years, after the 300.00 instal price. So far it works better than the time warner cable service I was paying $62.00 a month for. Wow less than 5 months I break even! I very happy with Google Fiber

Google Fiber has a super fast internet connection. It's the fastest I've ever had. They have comparable prices for a service that is 100 times faster.

Although Google Fiber is not currently available everywhere in the Kansas City metropolitan area, their service is rapidly expanding to additional cities. Our initial WiFi internet service was installed in July, 2013. Before making the decision to switch to Google Fiber we made two visits to the main office in Westport , and also attended a special event at Pierson Park in Kansas City, KS. Communication, courtesy, friendliness, product knowledge, and accessibility, all were great. The construction crews who brought the fiber optics to our area were considerate and efficient. The installation specialist was excellent, and left his business card, inviting us to call anytime. We did initially have difficultly accessing some webpages so we called for support and Matthew set up an appointment for us. The tech, Gabe, was able to provide a temporary "fix" and indicated that another tech specialist would be sent to resolve the problem permanently. Gabe left his business card and we were again told, "Call anytime." Alex, the primary IT guru, came and resolved the issue permanently by changing a radio in the router (the wireless radio is the device inside the wireless router that sends out the wireless signal). He also left his business card. "Call anytime if there are other issues. This is my phone number and your call will come directly to me." Wow. Our contact when we set up our appointments, Matthew, called back the day after our service was permanently fixed to make sure all was well. Thank you, Matthew, for checking on us. All is well. We are under the impression that some of the tech specialists may be independents, rather than employees, but regardless, we could not have asked for better attention to our needs. Google Fiber's customer service should be the envy of all other internet providers. Face to face interaction, 24/7 LOCAL support, always there for the customer. We are so impressed and we can't wait to switch our television service next March. We are riding out our current contract because the existing provider refused to tell us what the penalty would be for early termination. Our overall satisfaction? Google Fiber has exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend! If not currently available in your area, we recommend signing up when it becomes available. We have only been a customer for a month but in that short time it's quite obvious that this is a customer service driven company. Kudos for caring!

I think it is the best TV service I have ever had. When uploading and downloading content, the internet speed is so fast, you will notice the difference. However, the browsing speed is not noticeably different. By signing up for a contract, I got a tablet for free so I can watch TV remotley. All of the broadcasting is in 1080p. Other places tell you they have HD, but it is not included or it is very sparse. Google Fiber is completely HD. It even is cheaper than the competition.
