Good until the end of the visit when it seemed it was their way or no way.
Description of Work: Only had them visit for an estimate. They were early and I happened to get an estimate from one of their engineeers. I felt he knew what he was talking about. There was a little pressure on contracting with them the same day, which I did not do or recommend.

Everything went smoothly and they were wonderful! They were just great and I would have them anytime again! They also have a fog that they spray under the house and you have to wait for it to clear but it is going to kill all the mold!

They were very prompt in contacting me and very thorough in doing the engineering part of it. He was very prompt and through in providing a quote. The sales person was very good about sitting down with me and explaining what he found through measurements and what it was going to cost to make all of the adjustments I needed. The crew that came out was very polite and professional. They would stop and explain each step to me and told me how long the job would take. They cleaned up well after themselves. I would highly recommend this company.

I contacted this company after reading good reviews and checking out their website to get an estimate on waterproofing my 1920's basement. I was also wanting to get an estimate on finishing the basement with their "basement magic" system. Having a company that can provide both services was one of the main reasons I contacted them in the first place. After contacting the company and scheduling an appointment aprox 3-4 weeks prior to my appointment time, they sent me out their information packet explaining the process and who the employee would be to look at my house for the job. Weeks went by, and two days before the scheduled appointment time of which I took off from work to be home, they called to cancel, basically because I was the only customer in the area that had an estimate scheduled and I was too far from KC apparently to make the trip for one bid. They then had the nerve to try to reschedule weeks out again "in case they can get another customer" out in my area for a bid. Granted, I understand that two hours is a long way to drive for a bid, but I am well within their service area as provided on their website. In addition, this project easily could exceed 20K for the job so it's not exactly small beans and I already have 2 other companies coming up for bids who are just as far and farther away than Dry Basement. My impression is they do not put their customers first, but only look out for their own interests especially when determining to bid jobs. Don't have such a wide service area if you do not intend to call on customers at their convenience.....there are too many other companies that would be happy for the business!

The severe drought in our area has resulted in a very high volume of homeowners needing our assistance which means long wait times. Dry Basement,Inc. is working diligently to see as many people as possible in a timely manner. In an effort to do this, it is necessary to organize the appointments in such a way that the estimator has the time to properly asses the issue and give an accurate estimate for repair. This can take several hours depending on the nature of the problem. This makes it imperative that we organize our appointments according to area in order to achieve this quality. It is unfortunate that when this was explained, that this member was unhappy. It is understandable the frustration and disappointment that they have, however rescheduling the appointment was unavoidable. It is of our opinion that this member look at the estimates that they have already recieved and choose a company accordingly.

Thank you for your understanding and patience with the crew who installed your system. Although we take many efforts to avoid "bumps" during the installation process it is construction and sometimes they are simply unavoidable. It is the customers level of patience and flexibility that really makes all the difference to the foreman and crew during those times. Thank you again for your fair rating and kind words, should you need us in the future or have any questions please feel free to contact us.

It is Dry Basement,Inc's responsibility to give a through inspection and a complete recommendation for repair. Many homeowners choose to address only part of the repair recommended, as in this case. Finances, health and market values are just a few reasons homeowners choose how much to invest in any project. Dry Basement, Inc strives to earn 100% complete satisfaction, by working within budget constraints that will allow repairs to the most needed areas.

When a consumer purchases a product or service from a company it has always been my understanding that if the consumer is not satisfied with the product or service received, that it is the responsibility of that consumer to inform the company of any concerns. Dry Basement, Inc completed a $12,299 project for this member on April 8th, 2011. Since this date Dry, Basement,Inc has received no phone calls regarding any concerns on the work or that a tool was missing. Had we received such a call, we would have immediately responded and handled the concerns promptly. Dry Basement, Inc has been in buisness for 37 years with a 50% referral rate and over 99% customer satisfaction. It is always a priority to assure that our customers are happy with the product we install and the service we offer. We cannot assure this however, if we are not made aware of customer concerns. To post comments on a blog site a year after the work was done doesn't give the company an opportunity to rectify any customer concerns. It you still have any concerns that you would like to bring to our attention please call the office at 816-741-8500, we would be happy to speak with you.

It took at least 4 hours just to measure the basement alone. We were having the basement and another room addition done. When we decided to go with another company for the room addition and them for the basement, she got really mad and snappy. We didn't appreciate that at all. She had quoted us for something that we know based on our own research and other estimates is 4 times more. The architect that she had with her seemed easy to work with and very smart. We liked his ideas but I bet a lot of business has been lost for having her as the front person for this company.Because of that, we took our basement business to whom we had already chosen to do the room addition and we are very happy with that decision. Would not recommend to a friend.

As a basement design specialist it is very important that proper measurements and details are collected in order to give an accurate estimate of costs,as this type of work is not a "cookie cutter" design, and each basement is custom designed based on the customers wants. When meeting with this customer I spent the appropriate time needed to get all the infomation necessary to give them an accurate estimate, which included calling upon the expertise of the Operations Manager of Basement Magic, Greg Amann and architect John Sankey at no cost to them. The customers wanted part of the project, which was to build a loft, heavily discounted, we were willing to accomodate their request, provided Basement Magic was contracted to do the basement remodeling project as well. They agreed, but then later contacted me and said that they hired someone else to do the remodeling project, but wanted us to still build the loft at the discounted price. I explained that we were not able to do this and the company they hired to remodel their basement should have enough experience to handle the loft project as well. I don't feel I was ever snappy or upset with them, but apologize if they felt I was.

Very professional sales person- Richard came out the same day that I called. They got started the very next day. Large crew showed up, had to jack-hammer the entire perimeter of our 1500 sq foot basement, to make a trench, lay a trough-type pipe for collecting water, laid concrete over the top of that. That all funnels to very large- two stage sump pump which is encased underground and sealed with a lexon window and light to be able to see the pump. This pump then sends the water upwards and across the short wall of the basement to pump it outside. They were done in a day. System is quiet, no water this whole last year. Water squirts out of the outside drain periodically after a heavy rain. Seems to work well. 30 yr guarantee for no water in basement. They say we could remodel down there and never have a problem. Thought the price was high, but we wanted the peace of mind to never have to worry about water down there again. We have bought that peace of mind. They assured me they were giving us a pretty good deal because they were in a slow business season.
Description of Work: Extensive Waterproofing basement by trench and pump method. We had an unknown source of running water under our foundation at our new house - city said possible underground spring. We had tried installing pumps ourselves, but water was too much for the 3 pumps and pump reservoir we had dug and planted in the basement.

They did the work for the people who owned the house before us and we inherited the warranty. However, they are miserable when it comes to maintaining their warranties. We had to hire to the tune of $5000 an engineer to come out here to convince Dry Basement Householder Systems that they had done it all wrong. The work done by them is still not right. They still have to come back out again. We probably have to hire the structural engineer again. When it takes that much to make them live up to their bargain which was their warranty that they gave out, I would never deal with them again even if they were the last company left on earth. They didn't do the work properly the first time to the tune of $40000. Then when they got out here to do it for us, I have no idea what the cost was because they ultimately didn't charge us. It basically cost us $5000 to make them come out and live up to their bargain. We have to do it again this fall because what they did again wasn't right. They were supposed to install pillars, but they didn't do it right. They didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. Their people were snotty. This will be the third time that we have to do the work all over again. I would have them back out here only because of the warranty I have on the house. Other than that, I wouldn't use them again.

The member owns a beautiful hillside residence designed by a sucessful architectural firm overlooking a wooded hillside. The 1408 sq ft basement, and upper level (~600sq ft) garage has a foundation peimeter exceeding 250 linear ft. when foundation movement was detected by the previous owner, a prominent structural engineer was retained to design the remedy. The previous owner reduced the scope of work and cost of the repairs recommended by the structural engineer. Dry Basement, Inc. installed the modified repairs per the previous owner's agreement. Upon the member's request for free service (and indication that all tasks would be monitored by a structural engineer), Dry Basement, Inc. assigned a senior repair design specialist, and a structural engineer to evaluate the site and make recommendations Measuerments by Dry Basement, Inc indicated movement about 1/2 inch (+/-) near the center of the perimeter repair zone. Field work exposed/load tested the middle 10 of the 22 perimeter piers installed by Dry Basement, Inc. One of the ten piers was replaced, and all ten were load tested to 60 kips to verify competent support. Dry Basement regrets that service efforts were needed, and that the member was inconvenienced by this costly disruption, proveded to him at no charge. Thus far the Dry Basement repairs are performing better than the original architectural design. Regards, Mark Whitehead B.E.S.T LLC

Dry Basement was prompt and accomplished exactly what they promised. The cement around the perimeter of the basement was removed to install the French drain. This was done quickly, neatly and with minimal disruption. Cement was re-poured around the drain and a sump pump was also installed. I have had absolutely NO water problems since Dry Basement's work. I have no complaints and have been completely satisfied with the work they did.

I was not prepared for the impact on the landscaping in order to complete the work. When the job was finished, I was faced with replacing shrubs, laying sod, powerwashing the garage floor and basement. Looking back, that was probably naive on my part; however, be forewarned. Cover or move everything that could get in the way of dust, dirt and, mud. That said, the completed work is excellent. While I wouldn't wish this problem on anyone, I'm very confident that the work was necessary and repaired to warrant their guarantee.
Description of Work: Front wall of foundation on 45-year old home pushed inward 3.5"; serious problem of water beneath basement. Two previous attempts at repairing leak unsuccessful. Was not initially aware of the problem with the wall. Dry Basement did major work, including straightening and reinforcing front wall, digging a trench in basement floor, installing a sump pump.

Dry Basement Householder Systems wanted to do more extensive work. For example, they wanted to dig a trench around the bottom of the floor for more drainage. I didn't think that was necessary after getting an estimate from a different company. This trench added to the overall price as well. So, I decided to use a different company.

They did exactly what was explained to me and in the contract. The price was exactly what was agreed on in the contract as well.

When the Dry Basement technician came out to service the industrial dehumidifier and sump pump, he told us that he found mice droppings in the crawl space plus cat urine. But we are glad to know this because now we have set some mouse traps to eliminate the food supply for the cat. The following week we had Dry Basement come out a second time and this time they sent one of their engineers to look at a wall that was wet in one spot. After going outside, it was determined that the lead was on the outside of the house but the water was leeching in through the wall. We have now called a plumber to fix that lead. The Dry Basement people treat their customers as though they are family members. We are so glad we discovered them!
Description of Work: This was the annual maintenance fee for the industrial dehumidifier and the sump pump. Then, we called Dry Basement the following week because of a leak we had through one basement wall. One of their engineers came out and told us that we needed a plumber. He even referred us to one. No trip charge on this. We are very happy with all the wonderful care and advice we receive from Dry Basement.

I would not give them an excellent rating. They had an attitude that was not all that great. The contractor who came in to start the work started complaining immediately and wanted more money. I told him that I had signed a contract and that I was going to stick to it. He agreed to that. They did a really nice job, the work was excellent but their attitude was just a little poor. The price turned out to be quite fair. Through negotiations, their price was excellent. The quality was good. There were a couple of problems that were minor that I could have done, but when I brought that to their attention, there seemed to be a difference of opinion. They did not want to come back out just to take care of one little problem and claimed that I had said that I would do it. I do not recall every saying that to them. We did have a slight problem with that rebuild work. There were some times that they had a couple of other jobs they had to handle and not enough workmen to handle all the jobs that they had started; so there were a few days that they did not show up at all. The days they showed up, they were here when they said they would. Once we got through the fact that they wanted more money and I said no, everything was fine. At my age, I may not have the need to use them again, but I would give their name to somebody who needs to get their work done. I know the stuff they brought to my attention on the dry basements stuff was really excellent. I really like the products and I would definitely use the products again. The issues I had with them have been resolved; it just took a little more effort than it should have. I am totally satisfied with the end result of their work.

They were good and fine. There was nothing that stood out but my experience with them was good. They were a bit on the higher end in terms of their price but their product and service was good. They were on time and did not take long. I would like to see proximate pricing from companies but it would be hard depending on the job. I would like to see if the company did good work and did what they promised. I would also look for reasonable pricing and their contact information if I had to decide to hire a company to do some work. I would consider using their services if I had the same kind of work to be done but I would also consider taking bids from other companies as well.

They did a good job as far as it went. Only arguement I had was that they wouldn't give me a warranty on the "curtain' drain which rather indicated they weren't sure it was going to work ! I managed to get a mere 6 month verbal warranty from them eventually. The area they fixed still seeps a bit but is a lot better. I think they are very expensive. I had a sump pump installed in my crawl space a couple of years ago at half their price of $2,300. I think they add a lot to the actual work involved with overheads and commissions to their salesmen who are the first people to come out when you call them. I'd rather meet the guy up front who is going to do the work rather than a salesman type who will try to sell you an expensive deal with lots of fancy books and pictures ! I never got a visit from their structural engineer they are so proud of advertizing. When I asked about this they said I didn't have a foundation problem so I didn't get the expert - although I actually do have a foundation problem which the salesman type they sent out didn't spot ! He didn't even attempt to go into my crawl space and diagnose my real problem which is water pouring through a big crack in the foundation wall......had to get somebody else to do that - not the Dry basement people ! Still have a major flooding problem in my crawl space but will not use Dry Basement to fix it. The work they did has worked (keeping the corners of my house dry) but they still haven't totally solved my problem. Shall not use them again they are far too expensive !
Description of Work: Sump pump installed at N.W. corner of house. "Curtain" drain installed around outside of garage. S.W. corner of house.

Thank you for the rating you gave Dry Basement, Inc and for saying"They did a good job as far as they went" as well as "The work they did has worked..." Our interior Dry Basement system is guaranteed for 34 years and had you accepted our complete waterproofing system it to would have been guaranteed for 34 years. The outside curtain drain is considered part of a drainage and landscaping project which is not designed nor guaranteed to stop water seepage.
