Good: Design work and project estimating was professional, timely, and within budget. Poor: Follow through and execution; skilled labor was not organized or consistent with respect to plumbing, electrical work, and bathroom fixture installations. Throughout the process contractor and workers were late and or worked an abbreviated work schedule on a daily basis. Poor: Daily debris removal and overall attention to protecting our home environment from drywall installation dust. For example, contractor and workers cut drywall in the house as opposed to outside or in the garage; as a consequence, dust residue was present on everything, on all floors throughout the home! This resulted in extraordinary expenses associated with duct cleaning, carpet cleaning, wall and floor cleaning; all artwork, glassware, dishes, cabinets, windows, doors - you name it had to be cleaned. I ended up deducting 1/2 of these expenses from the outstanding balance for the job. Poor: Overall job completion time. What should have been a 90 day project turned into a nightmarish 6 month process. We are still correcting as we go. For example last week, our drain backed up and another $500 was spent to correctly connect the main drain that was altered during the remodel process. Enough said! This particular "contractor" needs to focus on design work and leave the actual work to skilled laborers throughout the remodel process.
