It was wonderful. He made suggestions to add soffet vents to help cool the attic and that a handy man could easily do that. Also, there was a vent that he found to be loose and said I would have to get a plumber to fix that one. He was actually complimentary of the original roofers re-roof. The original roofer had to do part of the roof over again. This type of company is not the norm from my experience. I wish they were. I will use them again and spread the word. I got their name from a roofing supply company. I asked the roofing supply person who they would call if they had a problem at home with their roof. Christian Bros was the first name they gave me.

The overall result was aethestically great. The roof looks great! Scott was a smooth sales person and in hindsight I might have gone with another company that bid the job as well. However, Scott was responsive and the initial roofing started within a couple of days of the sales call. The Jesse and his roofing team were friendly and hard working. The job took more than a day and the team did an excellent job at cleaning up each day. The guttering was a little more troublesome. The scheduling was back and forth and when the team finally showed up to do the job, they had the wrong color of guttering. I was grateful to the team to have noticed the mistake before installation. The team took off the guttering that day and said that the installation would be the next day (Saturday) at 10:00. That wasn't the case. The installation actually happened on Monday. This team was not good at cleaning up and there were multiple metal rods and large screws and nails left in my yard. Overall, I am pleased with how nice my house looks and I would recommend the company based on the final results.

We called to get an estimate on replacing a shingle that had come off in a storm. Someone was in the neighborhood working another job and came out before our actual appointment. He got up on the roof, fixed the shingle then and there, and did it all free of charge.

Everything went well. Done in time frame.

The work was done very quickly and very professionally. Ryan Horstmann, the salesman, was friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything in an easily understood way. During the initial visit he measured the roof, reviewed how they do the work by using photos on his computer, and printed off the bid during the visit. Ryan even offered some helpful advice about my soffit venting with the vinyl siding that was installed a few years ago--something that was not a part of the roofing job. The crew worked very efficiently and were done in less than a day. The new roof looks great, and I have every confidence it will last as long as it is expected to with the manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty. CBR offers a 10 year installation warranty.

We took bids from four contractors and chose Christian Brothers because of their customer commitment, outstanding reviews, and competitive price. They have 53 years of combined experience in their trade, and are licensed and insured. The reviews on Angie?s List are stellar and it?s obvious why. Ryan Horstmann was the representative who prepared our proposal. He is very personable and communication was excellent. Ryan answered all of our questions and kept us informed as the work progressed. The finished job is everything we?d hoped for and it looks amazing. Along with the 50-year warranty on the shingles (transferable to 1 new homeowner in the first 20 years), the workmanship is warranted for 10 years. No deposit was required and we paid nothing until the job was 100% complete. Tarps were put down around the outside of our home, over the front concrete patio and driveway, and over the shrubbery to protect our property from damage. Clean-up was such that you couldn?t tell they?d ever been here. The premises were drug with a powerful magnet to pick up any nails and metal. A blower was used to remove dirt from the front entry porch. All of the old roofing material was removed and hauled away. The furnace vent on our house did not require replacement but the crew painted our existing vent to match the metal valleys and vents, which we had not expected. Ice and water shield as required by code was installed along with six new vents. The old roof had only two vents which was woefully inadequate. A vented drip edge was also installed at the eave for intake ventilation because we had NO intake ventilation. Because we don?t go up on the roof at our age, Ryan showed us photos of the completed job and explained in detail the work that had been done. He did a walk-around of the house with us and pointed out different aspects, including where extra flashing had been installed to assist in the diversion of rainwater into the guttering system. In one area the only way to properly install the ice/snow barrier was to remove some of our vinyl siding, install the barrier, and then replace the siding. It was undetectable and if Ryan hadn't told us we never would have known. We are glad they went the extra mile to properly install the barrier. Mr. Ryan Horstmann was our project manager. I was very impressed with the amount of time he devoted to the project. I was told the roof would take 2 days and they were right on target. We had some rain so the crew had to leave but they came back and worked long and hard to complete the roof on time. Everyone was so courteous and professional. The crew made sure that all debris and nails were picked up before leaving the job site. I am very pleased with the choice I made to have Christian Brothers Roofing install our roof. They were very professional. Ryan explained the whole process in detail. He made the indurance claim process easier by working with the insurance company. As far as the roof goes, we are very happy with the crew and their work. They were constantly walking around the house picking up the trash. They also made sure that our deck & landscape areas were protected. They added roof & soffit vents to keep the attic space more ventilated and help lengthen the roof's life. The roof looks good. Great color. (Barkwood) The neighbors like it too. There were a couple of areas where they had chipped the paint or split a trim board. But, Ryan came out and took care of them.

They were supposed to replace all the rotted wood on the facia boards and install the gutters. They did replace some wood in the front and it was installed without making it square and parts of the wood stick out. In the back of the house there was a large hole on the facia that they did not address. We found it a couple weeks later while painting the facia. We did not want to remove our brand new gutters - so we used a wood filler that will eventually have to be replaced. We are very disappointed.

I called Christian Brothers Roofing because of the good reviews on Angie's List. Ryan Horstmann came out to give me a bid. I liked him immediately. We discussed the problems with the old roof and different install options. Because of bad venting on the old roof all of the sheeting had to be replaced over the garage. A day later I received the bid and found the price to be acceptable. Work was scheduled to start on 06/17/2013 and his crew showed up right on time. Ryan was there to oversee the start of the work and delivery of materials. All of his crew were professional and courteous. They worked very fast and you could tell that they knew their business. Before the end of the first day a large rain storm blew up. The men were able to cover the unfinished portion of the roof and prevented any leaks. The work was finished on the next day. Each day the yard was cleaned and swept for nails. There was no damage to the house or any plants. The new roof is beautiful and I couldn't be happier. The gutter was scheduled to be replaced at the end of the month, but had to be rescheduled. The gutter men arrived as scheduled and had all of the gutter down and replaced in about 3 or 4 hours. When they left, the yard was spotless. The new gutters are like the icing on the cake. The house now looks better than it ever has. I would recommend Christian Brothers to anyone needing roof or gutter repair. Ryan was excellent to deal with. He is honest and reliable.

Recommended adding 6 vents for the garage and closed the gable vents as they sort circuited the air coming in from the eve vents

They were very good in explaining what they were going to do and in offering me options. They were just very good about cleaning up every day and getting it done quickly. They were very good about coming back and checking on the work, making sure that everything was in good order, and that the crew did what they were supposed to do. They were very careful about the landscaping around the house. I thought they did a good job. It was somewhere between $10000 and $15000.

Ryan was my contact. He was responsive and professional throughout the process. He explained exactly what was needed, why, and backed it up with pictures. Since I have no intention of getting on the roof, I really appreciated his effort. My roof was replaced in 2003 then 13 months later it started to leak. The roofer at the time only warranted the work for 12 months. They tried to stop the leak but they didn't know what was leaking. Almost every year after that, the roof would leak in the spring. I tried different roofing companies but the result was always the same. This year it was leaking more and the leak spread to the ceiling in two more rooms so I decided to have the roof replaced. Ryan explained how important ventilation is, how it has changed with vaulted ceilings, and how many roofers don't understand it. He had gone to special training. Some of his explanation I had heard from another excellent company that had also provided an estimate. While the explanations were similar, Ryan seemed a bit more knowledgeable and suggested a little bigger scope of work but not in a manner that indicated to me he was just driving up the price. Ryan found two possible areas for the leak. One was the furnace vent wasn't sealed well and the second was he thought the vents were actually pulling water in when it rained. I only want to do this once and it was important to do it right for a reasonable price. I knew the two companies were both excellent choices and I chose Ryan's. I had a bit of an adventure with the banks to get my loan for the work so there was a delay during which a tarp that I had to prevent more damage came loose. I was grateful that Ryan fixed the tarp for me. He had estimated the work would take two days. He said there could be up to 12 people to do the work. We had a weather delay but the work began at 7:30am on Thursday, May 16, as we agreed. They worked quickly but I could tell the speed was from experience, not cutting corners. They started by putting tarps and plywood around the house to protect areas and collect debris that would be coming off the roof. Ryan kept me posted on progress and each specific topic we had discussed. Examples include: 1) discovering two vents had not had holes under them so they really did not vent at all, 2) two vents had holes but they were too small, and 3) one area had no venting at all. The biggest discovery was my vaulted ceiling did not actually go to the roof like we thought so there was space for ventilation. Both roofers had explained the need for a ridge vent due to the vaulted ceilings and that is what was installed. Even though the space was discovered, the ridge vent was still the best option. The discovery meant the scope was slightly less and there would be significant savings on the materials needed. Ryan could have kept that information to himself and increased their profit margin but he didn't. He told me about it as soon as it was discovered and recalculated my final bill so I saved approximately $1000. Also, I had qualified for a $500 coupon the company had for Angie's List. Additional discoveries included an area of wood rot and a broken joist, both were repaired. Pictures were provided that showed each issue, the repair,and final work. FYI - If you have vaulted ceilings, there is other work you will probably need to have done. Ryan explains why better than I can but I'll summarize. The vents on the roof are for outgoing air so it is important to have continuous venting from under the eves for incoming air. I did not have that. I have vinyl siding that is still under warranty. If someone else worked on he eves, because they are covered by siding, my warranty would have been voided - also around the fireplace and one other place where the roof and siding met. So I had to have the continuous venting installed by my siding company. This was an additional expense of approximately $1600. You may want to be aware of this when budgeting for the roof. I had evening plans so I wasn't home but the evidence clearly supported that the workers continued until night fall the first day. The second day they finished a few details, including areas they called 'eyebrows' and did an excellent job of cleanup. They were finished by 10:00am on the second day. My new roof has a ten year warranty on labor and 50 years on materials. I don't think I will have any problem with leaks but I am confident, if I do, it will be fixed promptly. I have been impressed by the integrity of the company and workers, especially Ryan. I recommend Christian Brothers Roofiing.

Very professional, roofers were very conscientious about doing a good job. On the day scheduled they arrived early in the morning and completed the work at end of day as they said they would.

Our asphalt shingle roof was some 20 years old and had a couple of spots, especially around chimney, that we knew had leaks. We got three bids - They were all very similar in materials & specification - and CB's wasn't the cheapest - but Ryan seemed to go a step further and look at the whole roof - rather than just bidding to replace the shingles - so his bid included a bigger chimney cricket and new boots on ALL roof openings (furnace vent, KCPL mast, main stack etc..) - and he suggested we needed more soffit vents to improve the attic ventilation and also roof vents for our bathroom fans. (which we supplied and his crew installed as part of the job). Would the other 2 roofers have offered/done the same - don't know, didn't ask - but they didn't take the trouble to offer it up front. Day of: The weather was good to us and on the schduled day Ryan arived 1st, and the crew soon after and by 7.45am the tear off was in progress. Replacing the furnace flue boot they broke the cap; One of the (new) turbines was wobbly; A window screen was cut by flying metal during the tear-off - all of these faults were fixed/replaced quickly and without quible. The crew were friendly & cheerfull regular employees - not just a crew hired for the day. Ryan stopped by at least 4 times during the day - to check progress and to see that we were happy. We have dogs - so clean-up was important to us. They could have had bigger tarps, and covered more - but - they had one guy on continual clean-up so things never got out of hand, and at the end of the day there were two of them with magnets going over the ground. After they left I used a metal detector - and with a lot of work - I found 18 nails . . . OK guys, your clean-up was good! Trash, shingle pieces, etc. . . nada, none - good work.

My overall experience was exceptional. Truthfully, I looked up this company on Angie's List without any prior knowledge or experience with the company. I was in a time crunch for a bona fide estimate of a roof replacement due to hail storm. Ryan Horstman, the rep, came out on short notice and was not only cordial but extremely thorough in his presentation. He never asked to see the insurance estimate but spec'd out the job with no preconceived idea of my insurance appraisal. Only after seeing the quality presentation and products to be used did we compare figures. Amazingly, his bid was within a few dollars of my estimate even with some added amenities ie . . gutter guard and soffits. The work was performed on schedule, as promised and finished in one full day. Gutters were added the following week with same quality result. Ryan's follow up was outstanding and I would heartily recommend this company to any and all who would listen. Honestly, I went with Christian Brothers because of Ryan and the fact this company is a faith based organization. I was not disappointed. For anyone looking to have work done professionally, efficiently and in a timely fashion, these are the people you should really consider. The overall process took one day! I was very happy and impressed with the group of 5 men had my new roof completed when I got home from work! The gutters were installed the following week. The cleanup process was awesome as well. And guess what? Right here on Angie's List I was able to use a $300 off coupon to boot!

In my first conversation, when I checked whether the roof estimate would be free, the representative joked that it would be $1000. which made me uncomfortable, even though he then said he was just joking. I learned a lot from his description of roofing, but the bid was too high. I went with another company to do some repairs.
