Being the busiest time of the year for roofing (following storm season in the Midwest), the company placed our job in their schedule. On the week before they wanted to begin they contacted me and told me the day they would start and reminded me to have automobiles out of the garage and driveway to avoid having them blocked in. A couple of days before the job was to start they contacted me and gave me an approximate time their crew would arrive along with again reminding me about having the automobiles safely out of the way. On the day the job was to start they contacted me and told me the crew was finishing up a previous job and would be here in the afternoon. The crew showed up as promised and began work. They worked for 2 1/2 days finishing the job as promised. I needed to be out of town on the scheduled day of completion but upon completion they picked-up all debris and nails and cleaned the area around the house. Upon my return I found the grounds to be virtually free of any sign a roofing crew had been there with the exception of a beautiful new roof. I inspected the roof as best I could and satisfied myself the workmanship was all I expected, the gutter guards had been properly re-installed and the premises had been picked-up. After all the work they had done I was only able to find one piece of black roofing felt about 2 inches in diameter. Very Impressive !

First off, I want to preface by saying the company did a great job on the roof and gutters, and I was very pleased with the professionalism of all the workers. I am a retired Commanding Officer in the Navy reserves and have never in my entire career dealt with an individual as unprofessional and rude as the president of Christian Brothers Roofing. Initially, I first called Christian Brothers because my roof was leaking into the living spaces of my home. The president of the company came to my home and told me to contact my insurance company because I had extensive hail damage on my roof. Prior to any work being started, he created 2 invoices, 1 for the roof and 1 for the gutters which I signed and forwarded a copy to my mortgage company. The insurance company sent out an adjuster and eventually authorized me to get the roof repaired. They forwarded me a check which included the mortgage company on it, so I had to sign it and send it to the mortgage company. I was told by the mortgage company, they would release half of the insurance money after the work was started and the remainder after the work was completed and inspected by an independent inspection company. Christian Brothers contacted me and informed me they would begin work on 6/4/14 and it would take approximately 3 days to complete. On Friday, 6/6/14 at 6:30 pm when I was out of town, I received a phone call from the president of the company. He told me the work had been completed, and was wondering if either myself or my wife would be bringing a check by since all work had been completed. I apologized profusely and informed him the mortgage company had the money and would need to inspect the work before they would release the remainder of the money. I also apologized because the mortgage company was in the process of sending them half the required amount, but that money had not yet arrived. He then told me to stop apologizing since he had already accepted my apology, but demanded the money. He also said he would need to get my insurance deductible from me sometime during the weekend. He stated that the proper way to do business was to pay immediately after all work was completed. He also told me according to the contract I had signed, he had the option to increase the cost $1600. I told him the mortgage company needed to perform an inspection to which he replied his companies work did not require an inspection. He also stated they could have conducted the inspection on Friday after all work was completed. I told him I would speak with the Mortgage company and in turn would have them contact him on Monday since their offices were closed. He told me he had been in the roofing business for over 40 years and had never had to go through this type of process before. I returned home on Sat evening and immediately noticed all work had not been completed. The roof was done, but the gutters weren't. Upon talking to him, he informed me payment was required for the roof invoice prior to completion of the gutters since they were written as 2 separate invoices. On Monday, the mortgage company called me after speaking with the president of Christian Brothers Roofing, and told me they were releasing half the roof cost and ordering an inspection for the roof. The roofing company then called me to schedule the gutters. Just to get all this over with as quickly as possible, I called the Mortgage company and had them schedule the gutter inspection at 5pm the same day the gutters were to be done. I never received a call or text, but the roofing company failed to replace the gutters on the day they had told me and the inspector came out for nothing. I didn't hear from him for about 5 days, but after they received all the money for the roof, his office contacted me and rescheduled the gutter job. Once, the gutters were finally replaced and the inspection was completed, the first thing I did was remove the Christian Brothers Roofing sign from my front yard. I waited until all work was completed and the roofing company was paid in full before posting this review. I strongly recommend this company not be used as they employ bully tactics and unethical business practices when dealing with people. I don't know why the president opted to demand payment from me when he knew full well the insurance company had authorized payment for the roof and gutters. As I stated at the beginning of this review, I have worked with numerous businesses and executives while in the navy and have never run across an individual as morally and ethically corrupt as the president of Christian Brothers Roofing. I was completely appalled at his bullying tactics and his threats of raising the cost. In response to Christian Brothers response on Jul 16, 2014: We obviously don't agree on and probably never will about the business transaction that took place when I agreed to let Christian Brothers roof my home. He can question my account of everything that transpired, but at the end of the day, it's your decision whether you want to contract Christian Brothers Roofing to work on your home. My only resason for posting this on Angies List was to inform all Angies List members of my personal experience with the president of Christian Brothers Roofing.

Ryan Horstmann came out on April 24, 2014 to give me an estimate on my roof and gutters which were damaged in a hail storm in March 2014. I met with several companies before him and had decided to go with another company. I called Ryan to cancel my appointment with him since I decided to go with another company but Ryan talked me into keeping the appointment. Christian Brothers had taken an aerial view of my home before the appointment so when Ryan came to my home he already had an estimate prepared. We made some adjustments to the proposal and he went out to his truck and printed us a new estimate. I was impressed that he had a printer in his truck. We decided to accept his proposal because of the 10-year workmanship warranty that they provide and because of the ratings on Angieslist. They also give a discount to Angieslist clients. Also, they are not hailstorm chasers. My roof was installed on May 9, 2014. The workers arrived on time and worked until the job was completed. Ryan stopped by several times during the day to see how the job was progressing. They did a great job removing all the debris & nails from the lawn and driveway. One problem...After they left, we noticed that our furnace duct was pulled away from the roof vent and that the roof vent was pulled to high to reconnect wih the duct. I called Ryan the same day to explain what happened and I was a little disappointed that Ryan didn't come back to see it. My husband went ahead and fixed the problem. The gutters were installed a week later. They installed five inch oversized downspouts which is great. There was an error on the invoice to my insurance company. I called and they were apologetic and they corrected the invoice and sent the adjuster a new invoice. Overall, I am pleased with the roof and gutters and would use them again.

We were very pleased with Christian Brother's Roofing. They were professional in all our dealings from bidding to installation. Quality of work was extremely good with and they took extra steps to seal some cracks in our chimney facade without us asking because they noticed it needed the work. Site clean-up was excellent. Ryan stopped by several times to check with us on the work.

It went well. The clean-up was a little messy in places and we did continue to find nails on the ground. They did have to come back out and fix a problem, but they did it without hesitation. They were very nice to work with.

Scott Horstmann was very helpful and very professional. We had a big problem with leaking during storms. Scott was easy to work with and fit us in. Crew was great. Scott was good about following up on execution. Several tree limbs were broken by a delivery truck. He had that vendor back out the next day to trim the broken limbs. Scott reviewed my insurance settlement and provided some photos of minor things they did not include.

Replaced and cleaned up in one day. Two weeks later installed gutter and gutter guard. Were polite and installed when promised.

Ryan and the team at Chritian Brothers were great from the start. They gave us a clear and understandable estimate, answered our questions promptly, gave us locations of previous jobs to look at, and were efficient and quick when they did the installation. They took care to not damage landscape plants and the deck and were conscientious about collecting nails and trash when done.

I have summited this rating twice I was very happy with them. I will not do this again.

The owner came to our home and spent time discussing our project. He was very helpful discussing all the options. I would recommend.

The gentleman that come to our home was very professional, and the price was very competive to other's that we recieved. Didn't have the work done yet, but we'll more than likely be contacting them before winter hits.

Customer service is very important to us, and they are great with follow through, and always responded to my emails. Our roof and gutters look great. I did not find a better warranty for our roof with any other company.

Scott is top notch. He does what he says he is going to do. The job was done on time without incident and the roof is great. I did pay to have all new gutters installed and put him on hold because we are in the process of replacing some windows, once that is finished we can have the old gutters removed, the house painted and the new gutters installed.

When they showed up for the bid they were right on time and very friendly. They showed us different pictures of the whole process from step one to completion along with a very detailed description of what to expect. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at the cost (how much lower it was from other bids and how much more professional they were). The owner came by everyday to check on progress and to make sure the workers were doing exactly as we wanted. The workers themselves were very professional and kind. They worked very hard and I love the look of my new roof. I would recommend Christian Brothers Roofing to anyone considering a new roof.

I had a minimum repair job on a leaking roof with an estimate of $250. I was initially concerned when the workers showed up without knowing what the job requirements were. These workers had difficulty communicating with me, and I even showed them the estimate and the itemized repair tasks. Since they hadn't spoken with the subcontractor, they needed several minutes on the phone before they got to work. Even though this was a small job, I wanted pictures of the repairs for my records. The workers needed to come back for photos of the seal job on the air vent. The sealer was a little uneven, but acceptable.

Great from the start. Very professional in scheduling and communication when we needed to reschedule. The work was very high quality. The team had forgotten a piece to raise the railing off the roof, which I would have never known, but they pointed it out and made a special trip back to install it to ensure the job was done right. We also thought our main roof needed to be replaced and had them look at it and they gave an honest assessment that it was still in great shape and had 7 - 10 years left. I'll definitely be calling them back when that time comes!

The additional advice was helpful. They were right on time for the appointment. The technician was professional, polite, and knowledgeable about roofing.

Ryan came out to give an estimate, but upon getting on the roof and looking at the issue realized they don't do the type of repairs we'd need (the EPDM in our yankee gutter had peeled back, allowing water in and rotting our soffit and they don't work with EPDM.) He was honest right away in letting me know they couldn't do the repair. But what impressed me was he took the time to explain the issue to me and show me the pictures so I'd understand what was happening. Also went so far as to recommend another company that does that type of repair if it doesn't end up being covered by our roofing warranty. He was very knowledgeable and professional, going so far as to apologize to me for wasting my time even though through my eyes it was me wasting his. Will definitely do work with them in the future if any other roofing needs arise.

Wonderful experience from bid to completion. Ryan explained in detail what their procedures were and the extra steps they take to ensure a quality job. While a little more expensive, this more than justified going with Christian Brothers. We could have gone with a bid $1,000 less, but the quality of the installation would have been far more inferior than the quality of the roof Christian Brothers installed. In addition to the manufacturer's guarantee, we also received a guarantee from Christian Brothers for labor and workmanship that is transferable should we sell the house. They set and met all expectations regarding appointment and installation times, the roofing crew was courteous and professional. If you need a roof, you owe it to yourself to allow them to bid. I have learned the hard way that cheapest price is not always best value. Saving a few dollars on this kind of home repair is not worth giving up the peace of mind knowing it was done right.

Ryan met with me in the Fall for about 1.5 hrs, explaining all facets of project so that I completely understood the process, materials, expectations and standards. The 5-10 man crew came early one day, worked relentlessly until after dark for two days. Cleaned up the area very well both days and in fact left the place looking better than before! Additional day was then added to install the mesh gutters. Ryan advised me to select the type of gutter guards appropriate for my steep roof. Again, great clean up and professional results. Ryan stopped by several times throughout each day's work to closely inspect the work and confer with his crew. Kept in good contact with me when I was not able to be on site. We did a joint post-project inspection and corrective action on the new chimney flashing was taken immediately without me having to bring it up. Ryan and his company are fully committed to customer satisfaction, high standards, and at reasonable cost to the customer. The project price was lowered when we discovered the absence of underlying wood shingle layer on one section of the roof, saving me over $600. I am well pleased with my choice of roofing company and its representatives. It was not an inexpensive project, but the underlying layer of wood shingles was a factor that added to the cost. Regardless, I felt comfortable with the bid and confident that I would get a quality job. And I did.

He was so professional and very nice. He was awesome. He was all business, but he was so pleasant. If I started talking about anything too personal, he had this wonderful way of getting me back on track to what we were talking about. He actually ended up sealing where the ceiling was leaking for no charge. It was so wonderful. I have never dealt with anyone so professional. Even the packet he gave me was impressive.

They had a very nice presentation on a computer and it was very nice. I liked them. I don’t remember if they put their ladder on the roof and looked around. I didn’t have any negative reaction from any of them. He seemed real honest. I was in shock when the other company told me how much it would cost but they all came near about the same and I didn’t know that because I never put a roof on ever.

Excellent workmanship, quality roofing materials and roofing process. Very friendly and helpful when explaining the process and details of the roofing job. Received an invoice for all services after soffit work completed (without getting on roof you can't tell if the roof vents were done. Wrote check for service and sent a note with the invoice that there was oil on our driveway from one of their trucks. They came out right away and cleaned our driveway. We then received a call that records were checked and the roof vent repairs had not been done (which were the most important as water was leaking through one of them). They came out and completed the work and apologized for the oversight. Work was done well, Scott went over recommendations for our roof and was very professional. If I hadn't sent the note about the driveway, would they have realized the roof vent work had not been done before the next rain? If this had not happened, I would have given them an "A" overall rating. I would use them again.

They have done over and above normal duties for us. I have been using them for three to four years now. I did find them off of Angie's List. He did a really good job. The thing that stands out about them is their honesty. We had another roofing company come out and they thought we needed to replace the whole roof, which would have cost us a lot more money. They were here when they said they would be here. I have no complaints whatsoever.
