8 June 2024 Bordner did the roofing on our home three years ago for the previous owner. The roof has failed in multiple places, leading to part of the structure needing to be demolished (they don’t know how to install EPDM) and other parts of the roof to rot out entirely. When the problem was first noticed to be attributable to the recent ‘professional’ roof work, I asked to meet with a Bordner representative on site to review the leaks. I was fobbed off. I was told they were very busy and it could be a month. I asked again and said this was unacceptable to which they said they would be out in a week. As the damage was so bad and the site progress was being adversely affected, I said I would just hire someone else to replace their work and send them the bill. They then became available to meet and insisted they would do the repairs, if any repairs were to be done by them (yet ten days later no one had even been on the roof from Bordner). I was put onto one of their director’s Kyle whom I spoke with and emailed back and forth. He was not very forthcoming with information. He tried on multiple occasions to throw people not involved in the roofing under the bus , including the framer (who did 1,000’s of projects with Bordner). I later learned the framing subcontractor refuses to do work with Bordner because of their business practices and past experiences. They sent a PM to the site a several days later. A nice chap. We had scaffolding up around the house. I offered to let him up on it to see the roof, but he declined, so I showed him photos whilst standing just under the roof. In reviewing photos we also discovered the chimney flashing was incorrectly installed. I followed up the following day with Kyle to see what was going to be done to fix the roof. He again fobbed me off and said I may hear from a different director/owner. I asked who that person was and Kyle refused to tell me. I find it ironic that the marketing director, Kyle, deals with warranty claims. This speak volumes to how the business is run. After a week and much chasing, I finally got in touch with Sam Fleenor, a Bordner director. I was clear with him that time had run out for making excuses that repairs needed to be made or he would need to reimburse for the work. He again did not take responsibility and said someone would come out next week to look at it (after the previous week someone came out met me on site but did not want to look at it). With no timeline for repairs or resolution is site, we had no choice but to hire someone else to do the work to avoid more damage to the structure. Sam was to contact me Monday with how the roof issues would be resolved. Monday came and passed and no sign of Bordner via email or phone. I contacted them at five this evening to see where they were with our claim. Sam replied and said they drove by and it looked like we made the repairs. He offered to add more silicon to their poor chimney flashing, but nothing else. After being part of completing a roughly $20k roofing job three years ago which caused tens of thousands in damages, Bordner offer only to bring a tube of caulk. As an architect of nearly three decades, I have never seen such poor workmanship and belligerence from a contractor. Highlights of their workmanship include chimney flashing caulked to the sloping side of the chimney (should be stepped and cut into mortar joints), EPM membrane screwed onto plywood so that water passes straight through and destroys the structure, water p****** out of soffits, etc. You learn the most about a company when something goes wrong. Things went terribly wrong and Bordner has damaged our home with costs exceeding $20k. They now say the 3 year old roof is out of the 10 year warranty. 3 July. Bordner refused to get up and look at their roof issues. Now they claim it’s ‘unfortunate’ and they have learned. Imagine what their response to you will be when there is a problem. 16 July Still no resolution from Bordner. Warranty is useless and Bordner insurance is non-existant. We are out over $40,000 in damages…

The sales person was so horrible. I told him I did not want a long drawn out meeting & he continued to tell stories and ask me personal questions like attempting to a build relationship. I told him over and over not relationship building just get to the point. He asked stupid questions trying to get me to agree that’s what I need so they could up charge like they are providing so much more than other companies. He flat out told me at beginning $20,000 roof without going on roof & told me their company was going to be more than insurance bid, that’s exactly what it was $20,000 almost $6,000 more then insurance bid! There was a time that I told him I felt like he was harassing me & repeatedly requested him to stop with talk talk & about ready to kick him out. I had to leave the room in order to get him to leave my house.

On Friday, August 4th, I scheduled an estimate on repairing my roof. The earliest they could come was Monday, August 14th, so I made an appointment. I called Friday, August 11 to make sure my appointment was still scheduled, however I was told my appointment was not confirmed. So, they confirmed it then and said I was all set for Monday, Aug 14. I was also told in no uncertain terms that I needed to be home for the appointment, meaning I would need to take off work. On the day of the scheduled appointment, I received at voicemail from Crystal at Bordner asking if I would like to set up an appointment for an estimate. Upon calling Bordner, I was informed that I did not have an appointment scheduled, but they could *try* to fit me in. Maybe their work is good, but I would have no way to know because not only do they not show up to scheduled appointments, they do not actually schedule appointments when they tell you they do.

When looking for a reputable roofing company, we weighed reviews and asked for recommendations from people we trust. Each of the three companies we ultimately considered could have done a good job, but our experience with Bordner Home Improvement exceeded expectations. From the initial meeting to the completion of the project, every person we encountered was professional, personable, knowledgeable, and invested in both quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. Our roof presented unique challenges requiring creative solutions. Bordner went above and beyond, tearing off and redoing two areas on their own dime and time. Not every company would have gone to the effort, knowing that the customer might not know the difference. This team earned our respect and loyalty. Thank you to Steve, Sam, and the entire installation crew for exceptional work and service.

From end to end, the project took a lot longer than I'm sure anybody expected. But this was a big purchase and commitment, so it was important to me that I take my time. They were very patient and professional through the entire process, from sales to scheduling to project management to follow-up. Despite a minor hiccup with a sub-contractor and dropped communication regarding a final invoice, I would certainly work with them again.

We did a moderate sized bathroom remodel. Initially, things went well. We ordered it before the holidays and were not surprised when it was not scheduled to be done until after the holidays. The contractors doing the actual work - Robert and Josh - were excellent. Very respectful, professional and prompt, working the hours they told us they would be here and keeping us updated on where they were at each step of the process. The product was excellent, we are pleased with the final look, although we still do not have the correct finish on the shower door and glass. We were NOT happy with the communication from the salesperson and site supervisor. The salesperson was to get back to us and the additional contractor we hired for painting and flooring in the MBR, which he failed to do. Initially, Bordner told us they would order the flooring for the master bedroom when they ordered the bathroom flooring, but this did not get done and neither we nor the contractor were notified until into the end of the 2nd week of the remodel. This caused a delay in our flooring being laid by > 1 week because it was a special order product. In addition, the initial order for the shower glass finish was incorrect when sent to the glass company. This caused further delays and we were without a functioning shower in the master bath for > 3 weeks.

Very well. Bordner did an excellent job cleaning debris out of valleys and next to walls. Larry McCoy was in charge of the inspection and overseeing the work. He was professional, on time, and promptly addressed the few issues that occurred. Bordner has previously worked on the roof when they found hard to find minor leaks. They stand behind their work and will make return trips to make it right if issues arise. I will definitely use them again for any roofing work.

The quality of materials and workmanship was excellent. Dominic S. was the guy that did the work and his work was flawless. This work was done 10 months ago and I have procrastinated about leaving a review and in that 10 months I have used the shower and I have found no problems, leaks or mistakes in any of it, and trust me, I have searched very carefully. This was truly a professional job done perfectly. I thought at first the price was too high but after 10 months I now feel that it was totally worth it.

Extremely well. Responded to initial service call immediately. Ordered window and was told of approximate deliver date. Window came in early. Installers were punctual, polite and very informative. They were considerate of my home by wearing footies. Only negative was they did not wear mask when giving instructions of operation of window.

I needed a new roof which I hired Bordner to do the work. They were 2 weeks early to do the work based on the original bid. The crew was well experienced and started my roof on Wednesday and the work was completed Thursday morning. They cleaned up the work area to my satisfaction. The staff at Bordner followed up with my guarantee, and invoice. Very satisfied with this company.

Excellent, installed earlier than promised. Very attentive to our questions. Cleaned up after each day. No damage at all. Looks fantastic Would highly recommend. Very easy to work with from quote to completion.

The job went well, care was taken to protect landscaping, and clean-up was complete. We recommend the rep "Steve" who was very knowledgeable about the roofing process. The job was completed in one half day and the next full day.

They broke water shut off valve and told me too bad, I’m on my own to find and pay for a plumber. Right before work began, I was told if they broke my bathroom mirror they wouldn’t take responsibility. Overpriced and bath remodel doesn’t include vanity, cabinets, faucet, walls, or floors.

Very good! for John we felt he was very respectful, and honest. He explained the process to us and we felt like we trust him. Jamie did the work he was great and cliff was the project manager and he was very good on giving us advice on how things are gonna work.

They were truly amazing. Their workers were just incredible. The finished product, we're so happy with it. They did a gigantic shower for us that included a seat. It totally transformed our mater bathroom into something wonderful for us. The guest bathroom is also incredible. I couldn't have been more pleased.

They are very professional. I really liked the fact that they were proactive in contacting me before, during and after the process, so I was willing to pay a bit more to get their professionalism.

They're very very good. They were on-time, very courteous, and mindful of my time. It went really quick and easy. No complaints.

Had some roof repair,around a very small chiminea= $1013.00. Thought that was high, he said how much he will have to remove, then showed me a lot of pictures. One man come out, unannounced. Luckily I was home, he just said he was going on the roof, I don't think he spock much English..He was up there for about three hrs. He did not show me any of the material that he replaced. I asked about some pictures? He said office will get me some, then he left. Did not get any so I called. She said I wood get them in a day or two (still no pics).The repairs were done on Mon 3/4/19, I called in on Tue 3/5/19. I did get ONE call from the salesman.(Larry) I think it was on Tue 3/5/19, It went into VM. I called him right back and it too went into VM. Last time I heard from my salesman! I was looking at my CC bill and saw thet Bordner had charged my card the full $1013.00 on Wed 3/6/19 without my authorization. I thought, me being in Raytown might help, butt I was so wrong there. So I think Bordner has no communication skills. needs to get up to speed with picture verification, not to be so fast on pulling my money out of my CC without knowing that I am 100% satisfied. Maybe they are just too old in this business and have not keeped up with the times, also they can charge any amount and get away with, Most people would not put in so much time in reporting this. I went with a big name thinking I'd get a good job and service. My bad!! I will check around more next time.

The bid from Ted was competitive, especially considering the quality of materials and warranty. The crew was professional, efficient, prompt, and paid attention to the details. The job manager kept in touch, and I was updated every step of the way. They did an amazing clean-up job, and left my yard looking better than they found it. I'm very happy with the new roof, and would hire them again in a heartbeat. Everything about the work was first-rate.

As there were some water spots on the roof, and after we had a hailstorm recently (past couple of months), thought we had better get someone to come out and look at the roof for a possible roof replacement/repair. Not my house, but my girlfriends house, and I had used Bordner in the past for both an estimate and roof repair and knew about the company. The day Jason was to come out he calls 15 minutes before he shows up to the house, regretfully she was not home as she had to pick up her son and would be back shortly. Jason came and left, and calls and says that he sees that other people had been up on her roof for an estimate, would not provide one to her unless she decides to work with Bordner and would be happy to come back out next week to meet her. Soooo, no estimate for a roof repair (which would be out of pocket) or replacement (insurance coverage). Just that if she decides to go with Bordner they would be working with the insurance adjuster. And why would we decide to go with Bordner on her experience with a 5 minute call? What did Jason do to sell the company and want her to work with you guys? No discussion of how badly damaged her roof was or wasn't, whether it just needed a small repair or extensive damage. No mention of their workmanship, warranty, roofing shingles you use (GAF, CertainTeed, Tamco, etc), whether you subcontract your installers or not, how long you have been in business, didn't leave any information etc. How many visits does it take ? You want us to schedule ANOTHER appointment for you to come out? My impression is that Jason was in between appointments and fit her in and didn't want to be late for his next one. My girlfriend was not gone long, and had she been given a 30 minute notice or more (instead of 15) could have been there to meet him. I am very disappointed in Bordner, will not schedule a 2nd visit to get more information, and am gathering additional information from other companies.

I hired Bordners to repair poor work my original roofer performed. Bordners fixed everything so my roof no longer leaks. They did some extra repair work beyond what a roofer would normally do and I am very appreciative to have gotten this work done without having to go to multiple providers.
