They always do a good job. Been dealing with Boan for over 15 years. They have saved us from having a house fire once. During the furnace check he noticed the cable wire was placed too close to a hot pipe and the insulation was beginning to burn. We wouldn’t use anyone else.

Boan was called and an appointment made. They were a tad late as the technician needed to give one of their other employees a jump start. BUT they arrived and were able to take care of the problem and left instructions to assist if a problem developed in the future.
Description of Work: Furnace stopped working when the temperature was to dip below zero.

My AC unit is not name-brand, so the tech and his manager had to do extra research to find a "rescue" part that would fix my problem. They did, and it does.

I would use them in the future. The service was excellent. They were friendly, courteous and professional. You couldn't tell that they had been here when they did the job.

I bought a maintenance agreement for a year that would give me a furnace cleaning and an AC cleaning. The furnace cleaning went find but the AC has caused issues. First night after the cleaning the AC froze up, the wrong air filter had been installed. Then a week later the fan outside, which had been moved when the grate was removed to clean the unit would not start up properly. They came out promptly and told me it would be $415 dollars to fix. I called and spoke to the general manager who finally relented to taking $89 off the repair, telling me that the motor they were installing was not as expensive as a normal motor. So, evidently because I was unhappy and found it odd that all this happened less than a week after the service, the fix was to give me a "fair price" rather than a mark up price. I was also told that labor was built in. I was told that this repair man, who was the same that did the cleaning, was one of the best they had. I agreed to the lower price because I was tired of arguing about it. The repairman installed the grate in backwards so the fan was off center, which I had to point out to him. Also there are exposed wires that "will be fine" zip tied to the grate. I called back and was told that nothing else would be done, I offered to pay for the part but wanted the labor taken off but was told that they needed to make money and they couldn't reduce the price any more. The final charge for this hack job looking repair was $326. I looked up the motor and capacitor and can get both for about $80. So that's it for Boan, it's unfortunate because we've had good service and I've know the Boans since junior high. This is not the kind of customer service, the misrepresentation of price and labor, in the face of an irritated customer that I plan to deal with again.

They install, among others, American Standard -- a brand I prefer. "Salesman" Geof was not just a salesman but a field-experienced professional. Price was competitive. They arrived as scheduled and removed the old furnace, after which I re-built the wall between the furnace room and garage. A few days later, as planned, they returned to install the new furnace, humidifier, and air conditioner. Removal and installation were very professionally and efficiently done. Had them back a few days later to fix a small problem. No issues since. Would recommend and use again.

We needed something quick before we sold our house and we liked what they did with our furnace. We liked the service they provided and wanted to use somebody that we knew and had used before. They are very professional and timely. I thought they do a good job. Anytime there is any questions or concerns especially after we bought the furnace they came right out so they were very prompt if there was any questions.

I paid them a fortune. They're great. I've been with them for a long time. Everytime I have a service call, they come. The very first time I called for them, they appraised it and something was wrong with it. They replaced it at no extra charge, not even the labor. The quality was very good. They come right on time. They're very professional.

They came to do an inspection and found my water heater was leaking, offered their service, I got other bids and they were very competitive. I used them again. They were great. They call you to let you know they are on their way. They are always on time, And very professional. I just cant say enough.

All in all I'm totally satisfied with them.

My furnace quit a couple of days before Christmas and I called BOAN as they installed it 17 years ago. A salesman came by that evening looked things over and told me I could repair for $500 but it would be wasting money as the furnace should be replaced and showed me the rust on the unit. The salesman, sorry I don't remember his name, told me the price for an 80% and a 92% efficiency furnace. He told me that 90% efficiency and above are vented differently and would go out the wall and since my furnace is on the front of the house it would go out the front of the house with a box over it to prevent critters coming in. I opted for the greater efficiency and installers came today. What he didn't tell me or show me was just what that box would look like and he didn't mention that requirements place it a foot above the ground. The installers didn't mention it either and I didn't ask. I foolishly made the assumption that BOAN would realize that I would care what it looks like, buyer beware. So now I have, on the front of my house, 2 feet below the window, 1 1//2 feet from the fireplace, 1/2 foot from the window well and a foot above the ground (so clearly standing out on the wall) an ugly off white 1 foot by 8 inch oval plastic box spouting steam. The vent opening is covered by slats 3/4 inch apart, big enough for mice, snakes, wasps, and even small birds to get into. They say they have never had a problem with that, I guess I will see. I know I should have asked every question under the sun but I didn't think of this one question. I do blame the BOAN sales person for not realizing the way this looks on the front of the house might matter to a homeowner. I've been abundantly clear to BOAN that I hate the ugly box with a passion. I believe this is going to ruin any curb appeal, it certainly isn't going to improve it. Apparently any other location for the vent, on the front (say closer to the fireplace so it didn't stand out so much) or patching the hole in the front wall and venting to the back of the house would reduce the efficiency for which I paid a premium. BOAN says they would like to make me happy but they have no ideas how to do that. I hate it and wish I had purchased the 80% or risked being cold and got more estimates. I am not happy.

I am writing in response to the review given by [member name removed] As [member name removed] stated she called Boan Heating & Cooling on December 23, 2013 and stated that her furnace keeps turning on then shutting right off. We scheduled a service call for the same day and went to her home. The technician found the ignition control to be working intermittently and all flue piping was extremely rusted. The technician quoted her a price for repairs and due to the age and condition of the unit, recommended replacement. He then quoted her prices for, as she stated, an 80% furnace and a 92% furnace. He explained to [member name removed] that due to the location of her furnace, if she chose the 92% that we would have to run the piping out of the front of the house and there would be a Bayvent kit (small white box which is industry standard) located on the front of her home. Upon his explanation of how the installation would take place, [member name removed] did not question in any way, the white box being placed on the front of her home. [member name removed] elected to go with the 92% Furnace and scheduled her installation for December 27, 2013.Our installers arrived on 12/27/13 and installed the furnace. Upon completion of the installation they proceeded to go over the installation with [member name removed] and collect payment. At this time, [member name rem got very upset with the installers regarding the Bayvent Kit on the front of her home. Placement of this kit is per code and has to be placed certain distances from the fireplace, windows, etc. These requirements are also placed by Missouri Gas Energy in order for our customers to receive the rebate. The installers not only explained the requirements to [member name removed], but offered to 1) paint the box to match the color of her house or 2) to patch the hole, purchase new siding and paint to match house, and rerun the pipe to the back of the home. They explained that running the pipe to the back of the home could result in a small loss of efficiency. The installers were prepared to take care of the issue at that time while they were at her home, not schedule to come back another day. [member name removed] declined all of their offers. The installers called me to inform me of the concern and how they responded to her concerns. Shortly after, [member name removed] called the office and asked to speak to the manager. I answered the phone and [member namer removed] began telling me the problem she was dealing with. She stated that the salesman had told her there would be a white box on the front of her house but that he didn’t tell her how ugly it was going to be. She began stating very angrily her feelings about the appearance of the “white box” on the front of her home. She kept stating in a very loud manner and with some profanity, “I HATE IT, I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT”. I then explained the options of what we could do and she stated, “The installers already told me all of that and I am not going to lose efficiency of the unit!” She also stated that she was going to write a review on Angie’s List, not because of a poor installation or even because of the advance notice the technician had given her regarding the white box, but because the box was ugly and would decrease the value of her home. I tried to reassure her that it would not decrease the value of her home but in fact, due to installing a 92% efficient furnace would increase the value of her home. She stated that I was wrong in that fact. I then went back over every solution we could come up with to try to make her a happy customer and she told me there wasn’t anything I could do at this point to make her happy. At that point I asked what it was she wanted us to do for her and she hung up on me. In conclusion, we feel our employees performed the job in an expedient manner, proper manner and explained everything necessary to the customer. Had appearance been an issue, you would have thought the questions would have arisen when she was told the white box would be mounted on the front of her home by the salesperson before she ever decided on the installation. I called and spoke to a realtor to see if in fact, the Bayvent kit would take value off of the home. The answer was no it would not. The value of the home would increase due to the installation a 92% furnace. To state that we have no idea how to make her happy, is correct. [member name removed] rated us low in the areas of responsiveness and professionalism. We offered her immediate solutions, all of which she declined to have us do. We explained the installation processes in advance before she ever chose to install. I asked her what she would like us to do beyond what we had already offered. I am saddened that with all our efforts, she could not see what was done or offered to her over nothing but the appearance of the 1 foot by 8” box. The employees at Boan Heating & Cooling take great pride in their work as well as offering excellent customer service. We made every attempt to offer solutions to make her a satisfied customer.

It was a lot of work that needed to be done. They were amazing; they were great. They worked really, really hard. He came out at the end of his shift and stayed until he couldn't do it anymore because he had to get a part and everybody was closed. They had to order parts so they couldn't come out the next day. They were very nice. The part didn't come in until 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and they came out and didn't charge us any kind of extra hours. They were really, really great. The part was expensive as well as the labor. We would highly recommend them. We are having a slight problem with our furnace and we are going to call them again. We didn't compare their prices but we thought it wasn't any more than anybody else would have charged. They were here until after 8 pm and didn't charge us any extra.

Description of Work: Fixed the air conditioner at my rental property. I forget the part that needed to be replaced but it was done in a timely manner and when they returned with the part that needed to be ordered they were again friendly and fast. Will always use for my heating and cooling needs.

This company was professional and courteous from start to finish. The lady answering the phone was much nicer than the others I called in preparation to getting my A/C unit serviced. The service man was professional and honest and did not try to up-sell me. This company may not have as many reviews as some of the others you will find on here but I highly recommend them. $136 covered the service call and 1lb of coolant. I will be using this company again when it's time to replace my furnace and A/C.
Description of Work: My A/C unit was not blowing very cold and was sounding a little stressed! The technician checked out everything and determined it was a little low on coolant. One pound of coolant was added.
