Doug Bates and crew did a great job on painting my house. They were there every day unless there was bad weather, which Doug always called to let me know. The crew did all the prep work and clean-up. I might add that they were some excellent painters with the trim work. Also, Doug always came by or called everyday to see how everything was going. I am extremely pleased with the way it turned out. I would definitely recommend Bates Painting Company!

I was very pleased with the quality of the work. The painters were very professional, quiet and worked hard while they at the job site.

Having just moved into our first home last fall, we had no experience with professional painting contractors, nor the process of repainting the exterior of it. To help educate ourselves and ensure we chose wisely, we solicited bids from four different painting companies. Those bids (each including all materials) came in all over the place, but Bates Painting came in within $100 of another company on the exterior portion of the bid. However, they were only half the cost of the other company for the kitchen portion of our job and that was one of two reasons we selected Bates. The other reason was Doug Bates himself. He was friendly, honest, had great reviews on here and the business has been around a long time. After the initial meeting with Doug, I felt at ease with him and knew the house would be in good hands. We settled on a start date about 30 days out due to his other jobs and then, about 10 days before the scheduled start, Doug was able to move us up on the calendar and get everything done prior to a housewarming party we were throwing, which was appreciated. The day the project started, I met Doug at the house along with his crew of five guys. I was able to meet each of them and, again, left the house confident they'd do a great job. The job took four days total, which was reasonable and what I expected. I wouldn't have wanted it done quicker than that because I feel like the quality would have suffered. They did a great job prepping the house by recaulking all the nail holes (our house has fiber cement siding) and gaps, powerwashing and scraping when needed. The trim color went on first and looked great. Then, due to our HOA being extremely unresponsive, we were forced to delay Bates a day, which screwed up their schedule and, no doubt, cost Doug some money. He was more than accomodating about the whole thing, however, and never made a big deal out of it at all, which was appreciated. When the job was done, Doug again met me at the house, where I walked the whole thing with he and his job foreman. It looked fantastic and, once they finished cleaning up, there was zero evidence they'd ever been there. No spills, no mess, nothing. I would highly, highly recommend Bates Painting to anyone needing interior or exterior painting. They are not the cheapest option and you shouldn't want that anyway. They're extremely competitive in price when you compare them to other, quality companies and that's all I ask for. Though I hope I don't have to call Doug about repainting for at least 6-8 years, I'll be happy to do so then!

Doug Bates, the owners, responded to our request very quickly. Because of the wet weather at the time, we had to wait for a dry period for when the painting would occur. Doug came out to discuss paint colors with us and showed us many samples. He gave us a recommendation for what brand of paint to use based on his experience and also provided some color palette suggestions, since we were fairly open to the color. They performed the work in slightly more than one week, which is longer than I was expecting; however the work was done by hand and therefore took more time and dedication, which I appreciated! Doug visited his crew once a day and gave my husband and I an update through email and/or phone calls. When there was a change in what we agreed on, he called us before performing the work. All in all, they did a great job and I'm glad we chose them!

We've used Bates Painting before and were very impressed and pleased with the results. I was ready to hire Doug again to paint our new house but at my husband's urging I sought additional estimates. Bates Painting estimate came in over $1500 less than the next low bid. An additional contractor made an appointment to bid, but never showed up. So I hired exactly who I wanted to hire in the first place. The crew did a beautiful job, even carefully "matching" my husband's description of "something a little darker in color" than the existing color. I had no idea what that meant, but Doug apparently did because it was perfect. As before the crew was pleasant and professional, and started and finished earlier than initially planned. The crew wasn't even unnerved by the south wall of the house (which feels like it must overlook the grand canyon with no safety rail). We will definitely hire again. We just need to come up with the project.

Doug came out quickly to give an estimate and discuss what we wanted. And he understood what I was wanting to do, which was to paint our house in a very detailed four color scheme so it looks like a storybook cottage / gingerbread house / painted lady. He worked us in quickly as we were under a time crunch to get it done. The painters arrived promptly at 7:15 every morning and were super pleasant, professional and friendly. They rolled with the punches as I was designing the house as we went and had some changes to areas after they had already done it and done it well. I thought I was going to lose them with the late introduction of the red, but they took it in stride and did just what I wanted. I went over the house over the weekend and they came back to do a last clean up of the house and I had a list of things (I am extremely picky :) and they took care of all of them to my complete satisfaction.They even went above and beyond and fixed some holes in our house and fixed a couple missing pieces of bricks near the roof line of our chimney. Our house now has so many people coming by and admiring it and I posted it on Facebook and have 30 and counting likes and a ton of really great comments that people love it. It is very striking and we love it. Doug offers a 6 year warranty on the painting which also makes me feel more comfortable since it is always possible that it may need touch up here and there at some point and I know he will take care of it.

Doug Bates was prompt in communication, provided requested guidance for the different projects, and the work was done with attention to our concerns, professionalism and quality workmanship. We have been highly pleased with the completed jobs and would hire this company in a heartbeat with other similar work. We were especially appreciative of Doug's artistic sensibilities that guided our projects.

Honestly, it couldn't have gone any better! Mr. Bates was by far the very most responsive contractor we have worked with thus far as a home owner! We have done SEVERAL remodeling jobs at our home and we have never experienced a contractor who called to follow up as much as he did. Mother Nature wasn't coorporating and kept raining thus pushing out the date of when he could start and then finish the job, he kept us informed every step of the way. He was even about 15 minutes early NOT LATE to give us his quote to do the job and HE CAME IN UNDER what he originally quoted us by $40! Who does that these day?! AMAZING! He could have just charged us the additional $40 and we would have never known the difference. We will absolutely be using his services again! I will recommend him to everyone who asks!

Doug came out last fall and gave an estimate. The weather turned and the job had to wait until Spring. Doug stayed in contacted and when Spring was here he called to see if I still wanted the job done. It did for the same price that he gave an estimate on last fall. They started whaen they said they would and had it done in three days. Doug checked several times as the job was being done. He also walked through everything when they were done to make sure I was satisfied. He was competitive on all bids I got, Would use him againfor painting job

Some initial communication issues, but got the job done within a week of my initial call. Crew was friendly and left no mess when they left. They selected the paint and ensured that only quality paint/stain was used. They know what lasts and I wouldn't recommend buying your own, which may not measure up over the seasons. Previous write-ups allowed me to select Bates without having to fool with several different estimates.

Setting up the estimate went well but he didn't bother to follow up with me after visiting my house. He said he was going to email me his bid but I never received it. I know I could have followed up, but I didn't because I assumed he didn't need my business.

I live in Brookside in a 2.5 story house and wanted a paint job that would reflect the character of the details. I selected a 4 color paint scheme and provided the crew with sketches of what colors were to go where. They were very attentive and got all of the colors exactly like and where I wanted them. The foreman even went over and above and painted the old coal scuttle the black that was used as one of the accent colors. What a great idea, it really pops against the stone foundation. The house has the 4" wide wood clapboard siding over most of the house, except for a red brick front porch, and wood shingle siding in the gables. There are also exposed roof rafters and the big triangular brackets. All of these areas needed to be cleaned, prepped, primed and painted. Including removing the storm windows and painting the trim, frames and mullions for 40 windows (not all of the windows had mullions) In part I have waited so long to submit a review because I wanted to see how well it would hold up. There was a lot of work to be done including soffits, 40 windows, accenting the trim work, etc. plus having to get an extra long ladder to reach the peak of the gable on the driveway side of the house, about 40' above the drive. Bates Painting offers a 5-year warranty on their work which I think is very impressive and shows that they do stand by the quality of their work. the paint job has held up very well. One small area, like about 8" long and 1/4" wide in 3 places is peeling on 3 boards on the detached garage. I ran into Doug (Bates) at the post office one day about a year ago and asked if he could tell me what I should do to fix the problem as the warranty was just about to expire. He told me to just give him a call and he would come take care of it. I have not gotten around to calling him because the problem is such a small area. The project took longer than Doug had estimated, but he stood by his quote. The house and garage still look GREAT! I would use Bates Painting again in a minute. I just hope I get about another 5 years out of the paint job first, though!

The painters were on time, completed the job within the estimated time window. We paid exactly what was estimated when the job was complete. They did an excellent job and were very accommodating! We highly recommend them!

Every winter I have Bates Painting come to my place of business and do a winter spruce up. They are so good at what they do!!! I can always count on them to show up on time and work efficiently. Doors, trim, cabinets, walls...ALL of it looks BRAND NEW when they are finished. All the guys on the team are so nice and fun to be around! I won't ever use anyone else, EVER!!! Doug & company did so well on my house, I asked him to quote then paint my Son and Daughter in laws house. Incredible work. There were three days in a row that were warm enough to paint in late November. He had a crew of 5 or 6 prepping the house, then painting. He had the crew stop paining two hours before dusk so the paint could dry a bit before the chill of night. He got it done in the 3 day window. It's gone from an eye sore to a traffic stopper, and it was done right. Doug also has a great eye for color if you need some suggestions.

Doug Bates and crew were extremely professional, friendly and considerate at all times.. They did an outstanding job on our house and it looks terrific. I particularly liked the color choice assistance and I am thrilled with how the color looks.

The project went great. Doug and his crew were fantastic. His crew was made up of four guys who had been with him for many years. They did a fantastic job and the house looks great. Doug provided color suggestions, which I appreciated. He also made sure to provide the color samples our HOA required for review. The crew kept the yard clean and did a good job of keeping the fence closed so our dog would not escape. We ran into some weather delays and Doug did a great job of keeping us up to date on the status of the project. Our house has received many compliments and we highly recommend DA Bates!

Very professional from the beginning of the bid process to the completion of the project. Doug Bates and his paint crew, Art and Ty, did everything they said they would do and more. Their follow up was also prompt and efficient. I continue to use Doug for additional projects as they occur.

We found out about Bates Painting from Angie's List and contacted him and two others. Doug was persistent in getting back to us and following up. They were busy but we weren't in a big hurry so that wasn't an issue. He called several times to reconfirm the scheduled start date as it approached. The start moved a week or so but that's not unexpected and wasn't an inconvenience to us. They moved once based on our schedule too. Once they started they showed up every day until they finished the work. They were careful, masked unpainted places thoroughly and completed the work on time. The painters were professional and very good. I'd recommend them to anyone.

We just had our two story house painted by Douglas Bates Painting, Inc. and could not be more pleased. Doug?s father Tom came out initially and gave us an estimate for the work. I was then sent the estimate by email specifically outlining the work to be done. We got 3 bids on the project. Doug's bid was in the middle, and we felt after speaking with him that he was the right one to perform the work. Doug told us how far out he was booked and when we could expect to have the work on our house begin. The rainy weather, along with our going out of town, caused the date to be changed a couple of times. The only thing I could fault Doug on was that he was not the best at keeping us advised when an estimated or scheduled start date changed, but he always returned calls when we contacted him. He runs three crews, so I understand that gets hectic, and it was an unusually rainy summer; however, once the project started, all proceeded very smoothly. I knew what colors I wanted for the base and trim, and then Doug recommended an accent color for the shutters that just gave the whole scheme a little punch and really made it a stand out job. The crew that painted our house was Mike, Mark and Shane, and you couldn?t ask for better workers or nicer guys. They arrived right on time every day and were very professional and neat. They powerwashed, did some minor needed repair on part of the wood, caulked, etc. We have a lot of landscaping close to the house which was an obstacle for them to work around, but they did a fantastic job. They were so quiet that you hardly knew they were there. Doug came by every day to check on their progress and get feedback from us. Mike, who has worked for Doug for about 13 years was good about noticing and taking care of little things that were not expected, such as removing the remains of an outdoor floodlight that had been broken off during removal and not replaced (our bad). They removed a long gutter on the front of the house that we were having replaced, which was not a part of the original work order, so that we could get the new gutter installed before they finished the house. Doug and the whole crew were a pleasure to work with. I would never hesitate to recommend this company to anyone getting their house painted. You will be very satisfied with the final result.

Doug and his crew did an absolutely TERRIFIC job. I have painted my house in the past but decided to have it done this time so I know what to look for in a good painter. The two man crew who were assigned to my home were fantastic!!! Their start time was 7:00am (on the mornings it didn't rain!) and they arrived just after 6:30am. They even came on a day it looked like rain and got in 2-3 hours of work.They scraped places on my house and picked up the debris daily. They always put a tarp down so not to drip on my hot tub or deck. The job would have been completed and started when quoted but with the weather it was delayed which is out of their hands. Before I hired them I spoke to a person at a paint store because I had a question between the two different brands of paint quoted on different bids. He asked me who I was considering and when I mentioned D A Bates he told me about an instance when they had to go to a location and fix what a previous painter had done. He also recommended them VERY highly and he is in the business. Didn't take me long after that high rating to decide to go with them and I am glad I did. I will be telling all my friends they are the best. HIre them - you will not be sorry!!!!! SUPER A+++ rating.
