I hired Harry to remove the existing flooring and install 800 sq ft of LVT. I decided to hire Harry because he said that he could take care of any issues found when the old flooring was removed and he would take care of moving my kitchen cabinets to remove the flooring underneath. I was told he may need to bring in a granite guy to help . I was ok with that extra expense as he would do all of the coordinating. With these precautions, a piece of the granite still broke. I had to regularly ask for updates on the progress as he provide this communication. The initial completion date verbally communicated was 3/30. The work was still not completed by 5/24. I am having to find someone else to complete the remaining work. What he did complete was hastily done as the quarter round is coming away from the wall any many seams where the pieces come together have gaps because they were fitted together properly.

By far the worst experience with a contractor. His reliability was non-existent. The quality of his work was pathetic and ended up costing more to have his work repaired. In June, when he was still less than half finished with the project, I asked him to finish in one week. He said he would. I never saw him again. I asked him two weeks later to just settle the amt I paid vs. what he had completed. I added up the materials he used and calculated that 1/2 of the labor he charged was due back to me, since the job was less than 1/2 finished 6 months after I paid him. He said the way he saw it we were even. I sued him in small claims court and won. https://www.courts.mo.gov/casenet/cases/judgements.do 1316-CV28250 Catherine Tronnes vs. Harry Baldwin He has paid $25 towards the judgment against him. I do not recommend contracting with Harry Baldwin or Baldwin Hardwood Floors.

Not been so impressed with Baldwin Hardwood Floors so far. Harry has not been there when he promised and has done a sloppy job on a test area that is behind the fridge. Got floor stain on the woodwork and quarter round and did not clean it up. Clearly stated in the presence of two of us the "plan" for arriving and applying stain on certain days and we are two days after that already. Also scraped the wall with the handle of the sander I assume. I'll Update my review if this gets better but so far I'd not recommend them. This is an update to the earlier post. I still would never use Baldwin Hardwood Floors again. The quality of craftsmanship was subpar for my taste. It was just a sloppy job and I felt like I had too much angst during the whole process. It felt as though each time Harry showed up he was rushing to get in and out an the details and quality suffered. Areas that were not sanded properly to begin with were stained and then "retouched later" and never matched the first application of stain. He said they would be "blended" out but never achieved this after multiple conversations about it. Over-all the floor looks "nice" but DETAILS were just sloppy.

Awesome job, just love the floor. Harry provided us a quote a few months earlier, we got busy and didn't call back until end of August. Harry honored his original quote and showed up in less than two weeks. His son and another fella sanded the floors and provided different stain samples. Once I selected the color, they stained the floors too. This was on day one. Harry showed up next say and put first coat of poly, then next day for additional coat. The last day sanded and buffed and put final coat. Floors are beautiful we are very happy within. We will have him do our living room floors next.

We hired Harry and his "crew" to install hardwood floors in our living room, dining room, bedroom and halls. He was to install ceramic tile flooring in the kitchen, 2 bathrooms, in the entryway, laundry room, and around the fireplace. We had a HORRIBLE experience with this company and will NEVER recommend him to anyone. His crew was unprofessional, drank on the job, and left only after a few hours on most days. As we were trying to move into the house and work full time, we didn't have the time to "babysit" his crew, and we paid dearly for it. We have had him come back at least twice to fix problems, and it's still not 100 percent right. We will end up fixing a few things that were redone and still are not correct. The tile in the bathrooms was not built up correctly in some areas, and not leveled in others. The grout joints were very sloppy, and the grout joints were not wiped and cleaned as they should have been done. Some of them look sloppy and the grout has cracked in at least two tiles. (We already had him redo one of them, and he still couldn't get it right the second time.) His crew left fast food containers all over the house, slung grout and mud all over the drywall and baseboards. He didn't stain the baseboards the correct color and we had to have him redo it. One of the laundry room doors would not close after the tile was installed, because he didn't level it correctly. The drywall was marred and scarred in MANY places. The angle cut design around the fireplace was not cut evenly on one side. He forgot to put baseboard back in around our bedroom patio door, and many of the wooden thresholds that he installed cracked within a day. We had to have him come back and redo almost every one of them. A bad board was put into the MIDDLE of the hardwood floor, and we had to have him pull it up. Really? I am still scraping and cleaning off grout from my drywall. One place has no grout in a part of the joint between the tiles. The tile floor was not sealed either, so we had to have them come back and redo that as well... Most days his crew only worked a few hours and then left for the day. We had been up front with him in the beginning that we only had 2 weeks for the install, and he ASSURED us it would be done in time. The day that we brought our U-Haul in with all of our furniture, he was supposed to have had the garage cleaned out and the floors done.He had accomplished NEITHER. We had to leave the U-Haul truck in the garage the first night and wait 2 whole days for his crew to finish. This was ONLY after we had raked him over the coals and told him that he had inconvenienced us and cost us tons of money, since we had to reschedule other services for 3 days to 1 week later. I had stressed this with him at LEAST 6 times in the weeks preceeding it, and reminded him 3 times about 2 days before it was supposed to be done. We were LIVID about it to say the least. He had had at least 2 weeks to finish, promised us he would be done and the work would be quality. Neither was accomplished. We are now left with problems to fix, and way too much money out of our pocketbooks.. He was originally recommended to us by our realtor. That is the ONLY reason we used him. I informed my realtor and they have taken him off their recommendation list. There is absolutely NO excuse for such poor work and professionalism. Look elsewhere if you want a quality job done.

I only hired Harry Baldwin because he was recommended by a friend. He appeared to be very nice and was very convincing that he could get the job done. As I was handing him the check for the down payment, he told me that he wouldn't be doing the work because he was going to have surgery, but his crew was "just as good as he was, if not better". I was promised that the project would be done in 2 days. Nine days later his part of the job was still not completed and my cabinet installation was delayed twice because of it. His workers didn't show up at the designated times and if they did, only worked a few hours and left for the day. No plastic was put up as promised and my house was covered in dust. They used my recycling bin to haul out debri and asked to borrow drill bits from me because they couldn't find their's. I found splinters of wood from my sub-flooring sticking out of my sofa and was told by another worker from another company that they set some wood on my couch when they were hauling it out of the house. My wooden front porch was so scraped up that I had to repaint it. At the end of each day no clean up was ever done, boards were left llying around with nails sticking out of them (I also have pets) and fast food cups and containers were left sitting around. When I could take it no more, I called Harry and told him I was finished with him and asked for half of my money back, which was supposedly to purchase the new hardwood flooring. He called me back a few days later, threatened to put a lien on my house and sue me for the full amount of the project because "I wouldn't let him finish the job". I never received any of my deposit back. I called another company to finish the job. They came that day and gave me an estimate. They completed in two days, what Harry couldn't accomplish in nine! Overall? You decide! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!

He was referred to us by another service provider. He cleaned up everything well. It was a tough job because there were a lot of nails in the previous floor, and I felt he did a great job.

Four years ago we used Harry Baldwin to lay new wood flooring and to finish the hard wood floors. He was professional and friendly, which I appreciated greatly. He beautifully put the flooring in but had some difficulty in cutting the wood properly to meet the walls. We received bids from several other companies but because Baldwin Floors came in with the lowest bid AND he came recommended, we used him. As he came to the end of the project, he realized he didn?t take into account one small area so asked for more money. We explained that we chose him because his bid was best. My husband still ?met him in the middle? with this request by giving him more money. Unfortunately, he never came back to install the quarter round/shoe molding in. Furthermore, four years later, we need the floors re-finished because bare wood is exposed. I am extremely disappointed to have to be going back through this painful process of being off of the floors for a week.
Description of Work: Put in flooring in 3 rooms and finished all all wood flooring in existing and new floors.
