Able Appliance Repair

The technician removed the ice on the back wall. Then he removed the back wall to discover that ice surrounded 1/3 of the cooling coils. He chipped some away with a chisel and poured boiling water to help the process. He used bath towels to catch the boiling water. But, he didn't want to put a sheet of plastic over the front of the refrigerator, covering the carpet. He thought that the towels would catch the extra water. But it didn't. We wet-vacuumed what water we could then used a fan for hours to dry the rest of the carpet. The technician was a bit stout and repeatedly helped himself up by leaning or pulling on the freezer door. That can't be good for the door to have a 300-pound man leaning on it. This is the second time I've used Able. I find them punctual, friendly but less than professional. I would use them again but only if I'm unable to find someone else. I tried another highly-rated provider on Angie's list but they didn't respond to an e-mail after 7 days. Hence, I used Able.

The drain line from the freezer has become blocked several times in the past leading to water dripping from the freezer and collecting in the bottom of the freezer and the fridge. Past repairs have worked anywhere from 3-5 months at a cost each time of around $100 before the problem would reoccur. I decided to use a different repair service this time around. Able returned my call promptly, set up an appointment for the next day and Alan arrived punctually at the designated time. Alan was courteous and professional. He explained what the problem was and the type of repair that would best work. I am quite hopeful that this repair will last longer than previous repairs.

Repairman came on 4/29/11 and decided we needed a new pump and motor kit. We paid in advance but waited almost two weeks for repairman to come back to replace parts and fix dishwasher. Repair lasted about a month and dishwasher again having same issue. Repairman came out again and said he needed to replace the same parts. We have made numerous phone calls to the company and either get NO return phone call or excuse from repairman that parts are STILL on order. It has been over a MONTH now!! IF we ever see this resolved by Able Appliance it will be the last time we use them.

I was very pleased they came same day we called, that was impressive. The serviceman was professional and straight forward confirming what I already suspected was wrong. This GE side by side has been a lemon from day 1 with a faulty ice maker and freezer system that freezes up every year or 2.

Able Appliance repair came on a Saturday, which was very convenient. It was only a 5 minute repair so the $69 charge seemed a little high but I understand why they need to charge a minimum amount. He mentioned that if there is any future repair needed, whether related to the dial or not, some of the bill could be applied towards a future bill. I was glad to hear that. Washer dial works great.

They did a good job. They found out that the inlet valve was calcified and needed a replacement. They were punctual and professional to my wife. The surprise was it costed about $200. I thought that was a little high. I have never had my dishwasher fixed prior but it did seem to be a surprise

My washing machine seemed to need service. Able Appliance checked it and agreed that is probably needed service which would be as expensive as buying a new one. He suggested that I wait until it quits working entirely and then invest in a new machine rather than paying several hundred dollars to repair one that is 10 years old. I agreed.

I called Monday and was able to make an appointment for a service call the following day, in the evening, to work around my schedule. I needed a broiler element repaired in my GE stove. After scheduling the appointment, I was asked to obtain a model number for my stove so that the technician would be ready with the required part. I did this. The technician called prior to arriving to alert me that he was on his way, showed up on time, and completed the work. He was nice, courteous, and when I asked questions was responsive and informative with his answers.

Called Wednesday, Justin came Thursday AM, diagnosed the problem (drain hose water leak causing the lower circut board to burn out, ordered & picked up the parts, returned, labor charge was a reasonable $120 parts were the rest, fixed our 3 year old Whirlpool Front load washing machine, which is in a tight location without having to move it and possible damaging our hardwood floors.

I called Able Appliance and within an hour Charlie called to come look at my fridge. He was prompt and fixed my fridge quickly.

Technician quickly diagnosed the problem to be major mechanical issued and reported that cost to repair would not be justified. Did not charge any service call fee as he was able to diagnose problem within a couple of minutes.

I came to know about Able Appliance Repair through Angie’s list. I selected them based on the ratings. They were really good and honest. I ended up spending $500 for four visits. They tried different parts to fix the washer and dryer and they could not solve the problem. Finally, they refunded all my money. I was really impressed. I asked them for advice for buying something. The advice that I got from them was excellent. Their communication was good. They were very prompt. They were very concerned because it was a difficult problem to solve. It turned out that it was a factory problem, so I do not think anybody would have been able to fix it. Their customer service was good. I would use their service in the future too.

Our GE Monogram Refrigerator was behaving erratically. On a couple of occasions, it simply stopped cooling for a period of time. After unplugging the unit, it would work again. This would be a minor inconvenience if the food weren't ruined on both occasions. After reading the glowing reviews on Angie's List, we called Able. It was determined that the motherboard in the fridge was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. Rick, the serviceman, realized he wasn't carrying the proper motherboard and chased down the proper part (a 30 minute drive each way). The price was reasonable and the service outstanding. We will definitely use Able in the future.

Work went very well, technician showed up when they said they would. The technician replaced some parts on the dryer and replaced the belts to make the dryer function almost soundlessly. Such a nice difference from the clunk-clunk-clunk that was happening before they showed up! Used the Angie's List coupon for the service call and paid $149 for all the labor and parts. Nice job and would call again. Thank you Able Appliance!!

Great - replaced the factory plastic fan motor with a new all metal one. Rick was very efficient and fixed it quickly.

Jim was punctual and professional. He explained to me what was broken and what was needed to fix it. My only complain was that it took 2.5 weeks and 3 phone calls to get the bracket installed. I don't know if this was a fair price for service but it seems reasonable. I would definately call them again.

Everyone I had contact with was pleasant and professional. The repairman found the problem quickly. I did check Angie's list before I called them, after looking at the reviews, I told my wife that they looked like they knew what they were doing, but seemed to charge everyone a little over $200 no matter what the repair was... and we should expect that our repair would be the same.... I was absolutely correct. even with our " 10% discount for mentioning Angie"s List. The part replaced at the very most would have cost ME $50, so they got it for less than that, the repairman worked about 30 minutes, so that works out to around $165 per HALF hour.. and that's with my Discount and free service call !! So, I believe the repairmen are capable, but I also think they way overcharge, and they also do not itemize anything on the bill, no labor charges shown, no parts prices shown, no sales tax amount shown. Even with all this said, I still would consider using them again, but I would ask for a itemized bill.

I called them to come out and do the service, and it all worked out good. They called 15 minutes prior to arriving. They had the parts and the tools necessary to fix the dishwasher. They did a nice job and were gone within 20 minutes. I was delighted. I don?t know how good their price is because I did not compare prices, and I don?t know how long the part will last. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

Clothes dryer stopped drying on 3/14/2011; called this company morning of 3/15/2011 after looking on Angie's List -- got same day service as described above. Great!

Same day service, not only repaired dryer, but checked to make sure all other parts functioning OK. Repairman seemed very knowledgable and I started a discussion about gas vs electric dryers. -- helpful information for the future?

They are excellent people. I found them on Angie's List. It's an excellent company. I have used them 4 times and I have always had excellent service out of them. I liked the way they presented themselves. I liked their cleanliness, their professionalism, and the fact that they left the work area cleaner than it was before they got here. They didn't mind my asking questions and watching what they were doing.

Great experience. Eight year old fridge quit cooling and I didn't know whether to fix or replace. "Mark" came in and explained that the starter was probably out, and checked and replaced in less than 20minutes. Saved me from have to purchase a new fridge. Will definitely use them again! Friendly, courteous and quick!

Able appliance did an excellent job. At 4:00 in the afternoon I noticed that my refrigerator was broken and all my frozen food was starting to defrost and melt. I called Able and they had a technician at my house in 30 minutes. By 5:30 my refrigerator was fixed. The technician was very knowledgable and professional and took the time to explain the problem. I will definitely use Able again.
