They were great. They were right on time. Their price was fair. They showed us exactly what they were going to do with the garbage disposal. They had to come back again, because they had to replace a part. But they came exactly when they said they would and it cost exactly what they said would cost.

The repair man came and quickly diagnosed the problem. He said they use the genuine GE refrigerator parts. After researching new refrigerators and reading some reviews I decided to fix mine. He had the part on the truck and gave me an estimate for repair. It sounded a little high and he gave me the 10% senior discount which helped. So far so good. I am glad my refrigerator is running again. Thank you able....I will use again for future problems.
Description of Work: I have an old side by side refrigerator. I didn't know whether to repair or replace it. The freezer was still working but the refrigerator was not cooling enough. I called Able and the office staff was very nice and scheduled an appointment for me.

The company was not able to schedule an immediate repair due to workload, but the technician was punctual, friendly, and professional. He was able to diagnose the problem in a short time, He did not have the part with him, but returned the next day and installed the new control panel. I will definitely call this company if I have further appliance problems.

Charley came out on Friday, May 31st at 4 to work on my refrigerator and washer. He knew the problem with the fridge just from my description of the challenge and looking at the model. He did a quick check to verify that he was right. The computer board needed to be replaced. They did not stock the part; therefore, he would have to order it. The part was ordered before he left my house and we rescheduled for Tuesday when they would have the part. Since I had unplugged the machine, the ice block had thawed and he advised that we could continue using the machine without fear as it would take a week or two to build up the ice again to the point where it would compromise cooling. The food was saved! As for the washer, Charley took it apart to assess the problem. He advised that the seal had failed and was leaking into the underneath side of the washer. That alone would be a $328 repair. The bad news was that the computer board, which was underneath the appliance where the water leaked, had gotten wet and would need replacing. The computer board would be another $250 part. We discussed options and he answered all my questions honestly. Evidently, front loaders are notorious for broken seals and leak. The wetting of the computer board is not common, but it does happen and it is situated beneath the machine where it can get wet. We agreed that it would be more cost effective to just replace the machine. He did not charge me for his time in evaluating that mess. Charley returned, as scheduled on Tuesday. He explained what he was going to do and warned that it would sound like he was breaking things, but it would only be the noise of the plastic snaps separating. He replaced the part, checked to make sure that the fridge was doing what it should, cleaned up his mess, and left. All done within thirty minutes. Amazing! Able Appliance Repair was wonderful to deal with from start to finish. I would absolutely use them again (with a silent prayer that I do not need them) and recommend them to anyone dealing with appliance issues. Peggy

The call was taken in a professional manner. Mark came out promptly and was courteous and friendly. He quickly diagnosed the problem and quoted me a price of $139.00. This is where things got a little interesting....I told Mark that I had a coupon that was posted on the Angie's List site which was for $10.00 off the regular price. After I told him this, he said that he knew that I was referred by Angie's list and that the discount had already been factored in. (Really?) Keep in mind that neither the dispatcher nor the technician mentioned this before the quote. While Mark was working on the dryer, I called the office to inquire about this pricing/discount/coupon practice. Mark's story was backed up by the office. I told the office that I was not happy with their method of coupon offers which may or may not be real deals, and that I would mention this in my Angie's List review. At that point I was offered and I accepted the originally promised $10.00 off. Now after my complaint, I'm back to "even", right? Not exactly.... The coupon also offers $9.95 off the service call "with coupon". Guess what....ALL customers get FREE service calls with a repair! When is a coupon not a coupon? It's hard to tell with this company. If coupons don't matter to you, I can honestly say that the service is good, so call them. But if you are wanting to be sure that you are getting the "coupon deal", good luck. The way they handle their coupons makes you wonder.

Rick was very prompt, professional and knowledgeable about refrigerators.

I called several times on Sunday morning/noon and couldn't reach them. They got back to me late that day and scheduled a ppointment for 9am-12pm the next day. On Monday exactly 12pm I got a call from the technician saying that he's on the way. He got here at 12:15pm, which was 15 min late than the appointment time frame. The technician's work is good. He diagnosed the problem quickly and made the repairs professionally. I understand that they used the Appliance Blue Book as their pricing guide, which has flat rates for all kinds of jobs. But I feel that their price was quite high. I asked for a breakdown of labor and parts in the price. The average price for the same parts I found online was much much cheaper than theirs. In summary, I have absolutely no complains about the technician's actual work. I was just the other things that made me hesitate to use them again.

John came out and investigated why my refrigerator wasn't cooling. I feared it the compressor, but he checked everything out and determined that the computer board in it needed replaced. He also took the back panel off in the freezer and saw that it was iced up and the defroster wasn't kicking on. Again, likely board related. He could've just let me thaw it out and fire it back up but we spent some time on it defrosting it and making sure it worked. He gave me his cell phone and asked that I call him to make sure everything was working correctly after we turned it back on to let it cool down. I would use him again without question and even referred Able to a friend who's fridge recently went out.

My dishwasher had stopped draining and I was not able to use it at all. I cleaned out the filter but that still didn't fix the problem. Doug came out and it took him about 5 minutes to figure out that the problem was the hose that drained the dishwasher was clogged with gunk. He cleaned out the hose and reattached it and it works like new. He didn't try to sell me any unnecessary work. He was so nice and very professional. I will definitely call them again if I need anything done and I would refer this company to anyone looking for repair work for their applicances.

I made a phone call to get help with an issue on moving. I was told in an unpleasant manner that they don't do that, and then was placed on hold while she answered another phone call. I ended up having to hang up. It was unprofessional and poor customer service.
Description of Work: I have several LG appliances that I have tried to used an authorized dealer to help me with repairs or issues. Able Appliances is listed as an authorized dealer. Upon called regarding a move-I was greeted with a short snotty response and then put on hold. I found this to be very unprofessional. I ended up hanging up without a resolution to my issue. I had to recontact LG to get another authorized dealer who was able to help me. I have also let LG know of this situation and how I was treated.

Ten year old washing machine started making a loud noise during spin cycle. I bought special tool and parts to repair; however, I could not disassemble (could not remove nut with spanner wrench) washing machine far enough to replace parts. Within a month, the washer began to leak. Called Able and for $10 they inspected and gave an estimate of $500 for replacing bearing kit and tub seal. The cost of repair made the decision to buy new much easier.
Description of Work: Should have called Able before attempting to fix on my own. For $10, Able informed me that it would cost approx. $500 to repair our 10 year old washing machine. Made the decision to buy a new washer a lot easier.

The two Able representatives arrived on time and completed an initial analysis of the work to be completed. They confirmed the garbage disposal required replacement, which they had in stock and that the ice maker auger motor was bad and needed to be ordered. I was told the cost of the auger and it was ordered for the next day delivery. The garbage disposal was replaced and they threw in a new pipe (made a trip to Home Depot) as the original disposal was glued to the pipe incorrectly. The team returned the following day to complete the install of the ice maker auger motor. The Able technicians were very polite, explained what needed to be done and the cost and completed the work quickly with no mess to clean up. I would recommend them to anyone needing home appliance repairs.
