Able Appliance Repair

I woke up this morning to find both my fridge and freezer were not cooling. I called Vicki first. At first look she could not see an opening, but said she would see if she could move things around or get me in if there happened to be a cancellation. She began working on it right away! Well, I'm not typically the impatient type, but we have a family emergency of sorts and we need to leave town today! So, not knowing for sure if Able could help today, I needed to call around and see if someone else could. I did wind up making an appointment with another company, but called Vicki as soon as I could so she wouldn't have to spend anymore time on me :). She had already found a cancellation and was just about to call me! She was incredibly kind and professional. Never once treated me like I was annoying or impatient (which I must have seemed on the phone). Nor did she treat me like I wasted her time (because I sure felt like I did!). She was very understanding of our situation and was very eager to help...even though they didn't get the job THIS time. Thank you Vicki!

There was water pouring out of my washing machine when I tried to do a load of wash. I called Able Appliance on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning, John called to let me know that he was on his way. I explained what happened and he checked out the machine. He could have told me it was anything, since I don't know anything about washing machine repair and the owner's manual didn't give me any solutions. He found that the drain was loose and he tightened it. He ran the washer to make sure the problem was corrected, and it was. He was prompt, friendly, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. I will definitely call again if I need any of my other appliances repaired. Thank you so much.

This is the second time we use ABLE services and never disappointed, is the second time we have Vharlie, excellent guy. He knew exactly what was wrong, installing the new Ice machine did not took a lot of time and very clean. Love the punctuality with this company. My refrigerator suddenly stopped cooling. Based on an excellent Angie's List review rating, I called Able Appliance Repair. The technician was prompt, courteous and professional, and the problem was quickly fixed (needed a part) at a reasonable price. Due to a problem with the legs of the fridge, the technician was not able to get it level. The owner, John, came out shortly thereafter, did some thoughtful troubleshooting and was ABLE (pun intended :) to get it perfectly level with some shims in the back. John is a great guy who believes in helping people in any way he can. In addition to the fridge repair, he helped me, out of the goodness of his big heart, with a table I had been having trouble with!! I couldn't be happier or more satisfied and highly recommend this company. Will definitely use again!

Within a few minutes of checking my washer, the technician determined what the problem was. Once the part he ordered came in, he returned and had my washer working within a few minutes. Good as new!

Our refrigerator died and we were expecting the best option to be a replacement. We called Able Appliance Repair yesterday and they had a technician, Robert, at our house this morning. John was very professional, pleasant, and a pleasure to work with. He was able to repair our refrigerator for a fraction of what it would have cost to replace. We will use this company in the future when the need arises!

We called to set up a service call through the Johnson County, KS number to find out what was wrong with my parents' HVAC system. Both the A/C and Furnace had stopped working at the same time the day after the last big storm (prior to 7/7/14). My mother was informed after noon for the service call. I came to her house at 12:30 and awaited their arrival or call until 1:20 PM. At that point the service tech called my mother and she explained what was going on with the system. She told him that we needed someone to look at it to tell us what exactly was wrong so we could decide what we needed to do from there. We needed to know if it was a simple repair that I could afford or if we were looking at a total system replacement. He told her that they don't do diagnostic visits. His actual response to her consisted of "we don't diagnose issues so that you can go buy the parts and fix it yourself". So instead of coming and looking at the system to tell me what what is wrong with it so that me as an educated person could make an educated decision regarding whether I could afford the repair or not, he refused to come look at it at all.

When I originally made the appointment, I was told that the person would be there 'after noon'. Now, at that time, I wasn't given a bottom range or how long it might take. Also, given that it was the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, I was expecting some kind of warning that 'hey, we might be really busy so it might be a while'. Nope. Just said 'after noon'. So noon comes and goes, and goes, and goes. Around 3:15 I get a call from their office just checking to make sure I was happy with my service and that I was taken care of. I informed her that the technician had not yet visited or called. About ten minutes later I get a call from the tech indicating that he had two more jobs and then he'd arrive. No time estimate. Well, a few more hours go by and then I get another call. Two more jobs and then he'd be here. Cut to about 6:30 when he actually arrives. Clearly, he's had a long day so I'm just happy to see him. Once he got here, I described what was happening and he knew immediately what it was, even demonstrating it to prove the point. He provided a guesstimate as to what it might cost to fix it, and told me he'd follow up with me the next day. Never heard back. He did made a small adjustment so that I could open the washer door and keep it open to combat mold without the little light coming on - so that was nice. Also, the price of the service call was super-cheap, so I was very pleased with that as well. Overall, they definitely know their stuff. I'm just a little surprised that the main office and the field personnel are so disconnected that I couldn't at least be given a heads up that they were running way behind and expect them to show up in the evening instead.

Went great, as always. I would refer them to anyone and everyone....which I do!

The tech that came out was on time and professional. If I remember right the house call would have been $25 but this amount was applied to our total bill so we were happy about that. His suggestion was to get our dryer repaired versus buying a new one, espescially since we had an older, more well built dryer. We were happy with his suggestions and repair. Will use again in the future.

UPDATE [6/11] Vicki called me shortly after I posted this review and we talked through the situation. She was very pleasant and understood my concerns. She assured me that she would talk to the serviceman. Based on that, I have revised my ratings to a B and would plan to use them in the future. I have to say, I am not at all happy with the service that we received from this vendor. The initial appointment was scheduled for June 2nd. When I made the appointment, the young lady on the phone asked what I thought the problem was, which I shared with her, along with make/year of the dishwasher, which I also shared. When the service man arrived, he confirmed the problem but then proceeded to tell us that he didnt have the part with him and that the parts place was in Lees' Summit (we are north of the river). Next appt was scheduled for Saturday, June 7th. The service man arrived, and fixed the issue in a timely fashion. However, during the repair another part came lose and fell to the bottom of the dishwasher. Rather than fix it, he left it there and didnt tell us about it. When it was time to run the dishwasher for the first time since the repair, the part was seen on the bottom of the dishwasher. I called to report the issue and the serviceman knew exactly what I was talking about when I described it to him. He proceeded to chuckle at me when I told him that I didnt feel comfortable running the machine without the part in place because I didnt want anything to leak. Cut to today.... June 10th at 5:50p... he called and told me he would be here around 5:15p but he has just now shown up. I do not know if this visit will cost me anything, nor do I know how long it will take. Overall, I am not happy and will most likely not recommend or use this company again.

Took 5 min then he said it would cost 80.00 fridge Took 10 min to replace the fuse that cost about $3.00 and charged 120.00 for the dryer

He called before coming and kept the appointment time. He was fast and efficient. He knew the problem within seconds of listening to the washer. He then quickly took the washer apart and fixed the washer and was on his way. Now I have to wash!! LOL!!!

Repairman was Bob and I highly recommend him! I originally had asked for a Friday service call however there just wasn't enough time so he came first thing Saturday a.m. I am giving a high grade on punctuality though because he called me 3 times Friday afternoon to tell me where we were on his call list and called early Friday evening to say he could still come over. He then gave the Saturday morning option which I appreciated. He fixed the drain on the clothes washer, and gave us options for either repairing or replacing our 18 year old dishwasher. VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, very professional and very patient explaining options! Very pleased.

I called ABLE after seeing great reviews here on Angie's List. The gal who answered the phone was very friendly and set up my appointment. Rick, the service tech, called before coming to my house, as promised. My appointment time was anytime after noon. Rick called at 11:49. He arrived shortly after and within three minutes had the problem nailed down and quoted me a price for the repair. He had the part on his truck and was able to start the repair right away. He was very friendly, knowledgable, and professional. He explained the problem, what needed to be done to fix it, and set out to get the refrigerator back up and running. I was extremely pleased with Able Appliance Repair. I will definitely use them again.

They were good at telling us what was wrong with it. They were able to fix it and they were honest about what was wrong and what it would cost. They were fine. I think we have had them twice or three times, and we have recommended them to a couple of people. They first tell me what is wrong, and they will repair it if we wanted them to, and they get their money that way, but still they are not that bad.

John cam to our home and evaluated the problem, He didn't have the part on his truck, at 5pm he called a supplier and got the part ordered. After the part was delivered, John came and installed. Excellent service.

I called on Friday morning and they were able to schedule an appt to come out on Monday afternoon. Rick called when he was on his way and diagnosed the problem as soon as he heard the dryer turn on. He replaced the bearing quickly and gave me an idea of what was going on and what to look for in the future if anything else comes up. Fantastic service and quick response. I will definitely be calling them anytime something else comes up.

Was met at my home by technician who came diagnosed problem immediately . Had the required part on his truck , installed it and was in bis way to the next job within 30 minutes! Even gave me tips on how to keep the coils from heating up! Thanks Rick! Very professional person to deal with .

This company was very responsive, and schedule an appointment promptly. The repairman showed up as scheduled. Unfortunately, the cost for the repair would have been more than a new dryer, and the repairman was very up front about this. He showed me how to keep the dryer running until I could get it replaced, although he said it might only work for a short time. I was charged $9.95 for the service call only. They are definitely on my list for any additional problems I might have.

Able was fast and efficient. Customer service was excellent. Our problem occurred on Friday evening before holiday weekend. They called us back promptly and set an appointment for the next day. The service man was exactly on time. Called ahead to verify his arrival. He diagnosed the problem immediately. Helped us empty the freezer so he could work on fan. Cleaned up and disposed of built up ice. causing the problem in the fan housing.He even offered to help us repack it! He was very polite. Offered suggestions on how to avoid issue in the future. Seemed genuinely concerned that he had resolved all potential issues with fridge beyond the service call's initial complaint.

He came in diagnosed the problem quickly. Found out that the last repair man put a generic regulator on it. So this time we went with genuine whirlpool parts. Rick was quick, professional and we will call able again if we need any kind of appliance repair. Excellent job. Rick called ahead, giving me time to get home from work. Diagnosis and repair in 30 minutes. Now I should give it a good scrubbing.

I was greeted on the phone politely and professionally. After explaining the problem of the freezing refrigerator, I was told a repair man could come out that very same afternoon. I was very pleasantly surprised as I expected to have to wait at least a day or more. The repair man arrived on time and was so polite. After hearing my concerns, he said it was most likely the thermostat and checked out the refrigerator. He thought he could fix it within an hour, however my Kenmore had an "unusual type of thermostat" and he did not have that type with him. He called his suppliers and found one that he could pick up and bring out the next day. (It was late afternoon by this time.) He replaced everything that he had taken off of the refrigerator and left the area clean and neat. He arrived the next day with the correct thermostat and had it installed in a jiffy. Again everything was cleaned up and neat when he left. There was no extra charge for the second trip out or the extra time. The refrigerator hasn't frozen anything since (the freezer yes, but the refrigerator no. Even more impressive, a couple of days later, I received a call from Able checking to see if the refrigerator was working appropriately and if the service I received was satisfactory.
