Able Appliance Repair

They were extremely fast, booking an appt in less then two days. The gentleman were prompt and worked efficiently. They were also very pleasant!

Our flap that closes the ice maker chute had broken and ice was building up in the freezer due to warm air getting in. They were able to get out to our house in less than 2 days, my husband was there so I'm retelling his account. He said they arrived on time, the repairman brought a young man, maybe his son? He said they went right to work, but were mostly finished with the repair by the time they told him what exactly the problem was and what the cost would be ($172.22, after our Angie's List discount, it was a little higher than we both had hoped it would be). We usually consult each other on charges over $100, but he didn't really have a choice as they were almost finished. All in all, he said it took about 20 minutes. The repairman did explain about the old part, why it probably broke, and discussed the new part and how it was a little different. Almost one month later, it's working perfectly and we're very happy. On a side note, I came home from work and asked my husband what happened in my bathroom. He said that the younger man had asked to use the bathroom, which is completely fine. But we have a couple of curious cats and a dog, and he left the lid and toilet seat up (we're a lid closed kind of house) and the door open (door stays closed due to the animals) - just an open invitation for an animal to take a toilet bath (my husband did close the door when he saw it was open, at least). And there was hand soap all over the counter, like he pumped a bunch out onto the counter or got too much on his hands and it dripped all over. While neither of these things is a big deal at all, I like there to be no trace of me left behind when I visit someone's house - I guess I would prefer if others operated in the same manner.

It appears a as though business is good for this company as they were not too attentive to even ask what my situation was or the problem was. Also seems as though the person answering the phone was more interested in the conversation going on in the background because she was talking to them too. Maybe they do good work in fact the reviews looked good enough for me to call but they were not friendly nor receptive to me wanting to have a repair done.

Came on time, identified the problem and fixed it right away. Refrigerator is now working perfectly. Rob was very polite and professional. I would recommend both the business and him.

Rob showed up on time and was nice and professional. He looked at the fridge and found a kink and fixed it asap. He was very professional and also checked the unit to make sure it was working properly and the temperatures were set correctly. Very impresses.

Overall, I was pleased with the service provided, but their pricing was above the average price range. Because I was basically clueless as to the specific problem with the ice maker, I wasn't in the position to shop around for a lower price. One might want to consider that, I did not think to ask the tech to wear gloves while handling the ice maker; it is not an easy task to sanitize it. Additionally, the tech had to use some type of a blower tool to melt and/ or remove the ice, and doing so left some type of sticky glue like substance on the wall of the freezer. However, the ice maker works!

Able responded promptly and arrived on schedule. I chose Able because their rating was good and they advertise they do not charge a service call fee. However, Able's bill did not list parts and labor separately. The service call is listed as "free" and parts and labor are lumped together. I called the office to ask why the parts and labor were not listed separately. I was told that they always charge by the job because some technicians may be slower than others, so their practice was fairer to the customer. I found that answer to be an insult to my intelligence. It took some persistence on my part, but I finally learned that the transistor cost $69, so the labor cost was $179.52 for 30 minutes or $359.04 an hour. I won't use Able again because I think their advertising is dishonest and unfair to their competitors. That being said, at least my refrigerator was satisfactorily repaired.

He was quick, explained everything, and answered all my questions, including new fridge info/recommendations.

Jake was professional, kind and easy to work with. Prompt service was a huge plus.

The company quickly called to schedule an appointment and was able to schedule for the next day. The technician called and asked if he could come a little early as his previous appointment was finished. No problem! Our LG washer was leaking water, and the technician quickly identified a bad water valve and mixer. He had both parts on the truck and had the washer back in business in 30 minutes. He was polite, friendly, and left the laundry room completely clean. He presented a professional, detailed invoice and was appreciative of my business. I will definitely use them again!

On Monday the first tech (Charlie) arrived at the front door. One of them was talking on the phone and I had to wait unyil he finally got done with his conversation---rude cell phone behavior. Charlie introduced him as Doug, Service Manager. Doug introduced the third person as "my son". The three of them spent some time trouble shooting the dryer and Doug announced that he didi't really do anything except "take it apart and put it back together". I asked Doug about the tech for the dishwasher and he knew nothing about a second service call and had no idea who had made the initial diagnosis. He turned on the dishwasher then opened the door and said "I think you need a chopper---not a valve" or words to that effect. He indicated thgat he dad one on his truck and could have it put in in about 14 minutes. He installed the chopper and the dishwasher works now. However, he presented me with some debris (mostly plastic) from the chopper----This makes me wonder if removing the debris woulld have solved the problem. Around this time Charlie made a comment about "$89" for the service call/repair of the dryer. He was quickly inform,ed by Doug that the cheapest repair was $120. Doug then presented me a bill for $390.22. The bill was not itemized and simply stated "DW-replaced chopper Dryer--removed debris from blower". Service call was marked "free", Labor Parts $390.22. None of the technicians offered identification or a business card. All were very casually dressed in jeans (no type of uniform). While both appliances now work correctly, my opinion is that it is pure luck----good thing I didn't pay for a water valve to find that it was not the problem. I think the amount I was charged is excessive and the lack of skills had me wait over the weekend to have someone come back to complete the work.

I was very happy with our first experience using Able Appliance Repair. I was able to schedule an appointment the day after I called, and the technician (Joshua), who was very friendly and professional, arrived early in the time window I'd been given. He fortunately had the parts available to repair the adjusters in the top rack of our dishwasher, which he was able to complete in about 10 minutes. Based on the parts and time involved, the price seemed on the high side, but I was thrilled to get our dishwasher fixed so quickly, and the replacement parts he put in were clearly of much higher quality than those originally in our dishwasher. I will definitely contact Able again for future appliance repairs.

Showed up promptly, friendly and professional, detailed all work to be done prior to doing it. Fixed the washer and it is now working fine.

Provider called and gave me a window of time when the technician would arrive. The technician (Jake) called prior to his arrival and came within the allotted time frame. He was very informative as far as the price of the repairs and how much it would cost to buy a whole new refrigerator. He repaired the refrigerator in about 10 - 15 minutes and it has worked fine since then. He let me know that if anything went wrong, I could call Able and ask for him.

Able repaired my refrigerator after it stopped working, they went extra distance by searching for the part needed to repair outside of their own parts network.

Joshua came and installed a new air unit for us. They hauled away the old one. He worked non stop until the work was done and from what I can see he did an excellent job. He was here when he said he would and he called when he was on his way. Also called the day before to confirm which I appreciate very much. He had been here before and gave us an estimate. He came the same day that I called. Quick response! When we decided to go ahead with the new unit he said he would install it the next day. Joshua was very polite and answered all of our questions and concerns. We will certainly use them again. We had used them once before and was happy with that service also.

They did a good job, the part was a little expensive, but the guys were nice. They were very professional and efficient.

Scheduling the appointment was fast and easy. The technician, Josh, called to let me know before he arrived, which is an always appreciated courtesy. He promptly assessed the situation and gave me a clear explanation of the cost and repairs involved, then got right to work. He explained everything in easy-to-understand detail. He was friendly and efficient and I feel like I got a great value and experience from Able. I would absolutely call them again.

When scheduling the appointment, I appreciated that they told me the name of the person to expect. He arrived within the scheduled time. The ice maker was jammed with ice and once it was cleaned out it worked properly. Since it was such a simple fix, John only charged us $40. That certainly speaks for his honesty and integrity. We will use Able Appliance again.

Prompt. Listened to my story. Went to work in examining both units. The washer's transmission was shot, leaking fluid, etc... The technician said it was time for a new one. Hadn't purchased a washer in 20+ years. Asked where and he gave me some recommendations in terms of speed, delivery, selection and dependable manufacturers. On to the dryer, timer was completely burned out and wasn't communicating with the moisture bar and not recognizing cycles. Basically, spinning around like a clock. Had a replacement price in 5 minutes. I decided that the part plus labor was enough to make a decision for a new dryer. At this point I am thoroughly impressed at how slick this has all gone. He wrote out his ticket and asked for $19.50. I said there must have been a mistake. I was totally taken back. The tech said all service calls were 20 bucks for as long as he could remember. He said they play the law of averages, the next person might need extensive repairs that offset the loss of this service call. I am glad that this time it worked in my favor. Although I did have to buy a new washer and dryer. The company and this encounter was impressive! Would recommend these folks over and over again. Awesome.

Per John's suggestion, I called Able Appliance and shared the experience and found Katie to be very defensive. Rather than focus on the error that a simple question of asking if it was GE Harmony instead of just GE, she preferred to focus on the challenges Able has with finding quality resources to service GE appliances, especially washing machines. It was a frustrating experience since she failed to focus on the customer's needs and how to improve service in the future; instead it was all about Able. She also indicated we would likely not be able to find anyone to service GE Harmony washers. Near the end, she did apologize and offer a discount for future services, but in the short term, our issue was not resolved. Overall, a disappointing experience.
