 + -1 moreBaby May installs Daiken furnace can air conditioning units. (These are also associated with an Amana and Goodman brand units, and are very highly rated.) I was really impressed with the 12-year warranty and even more impressed when I found out that free maintenance was provided semi annually for the units for the period of the warranty. The installers showed up promptly and quickly went to work. It didn't take them long to tear out the old unit and put in the new one. They also replaced a small diameter hose comma used to drain off condensation from the unit come with a small PVC piping assembly. That's much less likely to be crushed by any falling object. They also installed an ecobee thermostat for me. Both the HVAC unit and the thermostat has been working great. I find that most of the time for heating, I can set the temperature 4 - 5 degrees lower than what I was used to. The temperature and humidity are quite comfortable. The biggest surprise I had was about a week or so later. I received too heavy coffee mugs with A B May on them and a half dozen of chocolate chip cookies inside each mug! (The cookies were delicious.)

 + 3 moreThey actually cut an open hole in my toilet drain. Tree roots grew into the sewer downstream and poop filled the crawlspace. This is still a problem and also caused severe corrosion to two valves which are now unsafe to even touch.. They also cut serious corners on installing my tankless hot water system and high efficiency furnace. Water condensation from the furnace continues to be a problem. One technician actually 'cased' my house and promised me that he "would be back". He also took part of my new furnace with him and AB May still hasn't replaced the part.
Description of Work: $14,000.00 of work. Terrible installation and dishonest installers and plumbers and electricians. A horrible experience.

 + 1 more1 month after purchasing my home, the water heater stopped working. I called AB May mid-morning on a Friday. The made an appointment for that same day and after calling to make sure I was home, they showed up early the appointment. The next day, they replaced my water heater with a brand new unit. AB May's customer service people and technicians were responsive, respectful and courteous. And, I have plenty of hot water.
Description of Work: I purchased a new home and was researching home warranty options. I was considering AB May, American Home Shield and Choice Home Warranty. At the time of my review, all 3 were rated "A" on Angie's List. As I write this review AB May is the only one still rated "A". Based upon the criteria below, I decided, that at this time, AB May would most likely provide the best, most responsive service. 1. Early in the process, I eliminated Choice as an option. 2. I live in Kansas City and AB May is based in Kansas City. They have been well established in KC for many years. 2. AB May's technicians are all employed by AB May. 3. The reviews provided on Angie's List for AB May, both positive and negative. 4. The type and relatively recent time frame of negative reviews for American Home Shield. While older reviews were mostly positive, there was a significantly larger percentage of recent negative reviews. The recent negative reviews related to 3rd party contractors; missed service calls; incompetent technicians; rude and/or incompetent customer service; and the inability to rectify these problems. While reviewing, I wondered how and why this company could continue to be "A" rated by Angie's list. Since my original review, their rating has been reduced to a "B". 5. My decision was a positive selection of AB May as opposed to a negative assessment of American Home Shield. I surmised that overall and historically, American Home Shield is a fine upstanding company; that they are going through the pains of controlling growth; and that they will eventually provide the service consumers expect. However, I need the Home Warranty now and my home town provider, AB May is the best choice for me.

 + -1 moreExcellent. Drew was very informative while he was working, checking back with us each time he performed a task. He clearly explained the function of the capacitor and why it was important to have a fully functioning unit. He also took a picture of the inside of the air conditioner, showing a nest that mice had built, and the wires that they chewed up. And he brought the picture into the house to show us the damage. He disposed of the nest and repaired the wires, even recommending a particular type of mouse trap for future use that he said would be most effective. He was very thorough and professional.
Description of Work: During our scheduled spring routine maintenance it was discovered that we needed a new capacitor installed. Plus, he discovered wires in the air conditioner unit that were chewed up by mice.

 + -1 moreNick was amazing! I have had two other companies come over the past year to figure out what the problem was. Neither of them could find anything wrong, both were here for approximately 1/2 hour. Nick reprogrammed my thermostat, thinking that was the issue. He then went to the heat/ac system and realized the reprogramming didn't do the trick. He was determined to find the issue and he did after a little over an hour. He took the time to explain every step of the way what he was doing & why. He also gave me a lesson on programing the thermostat & even went ahead and set it up the way I wanted it. He also wanted to make sure I knew how to do it if I wanted to change it in the future. He arrived at exactly 8:00am. He was extremely professional but also very informative. I learned a lot from him! I'd request him if I ever need service again.
Description of Work: Nick helped me program my thermostat correctly, thoroughly checked the heat/ac unit & the heat pump. He reset the thermostat on the outdoor unit, which is what he determined was causing my issue with the heat over riding the air setting. He also put in new plastic tubing on the system.

He is pleasant, courteous, knowledgeable, efficient and always does an amazing job. I have not had any issues with my heating or AC system in the last year and I believe Michael's skill has kept everything in working order.
Description of Work: As part of my yearly warranty plan, a technician comes free of charge twice a year to maintain my furnace and AC. This was my spring/summer maintenance visit.

 + -1 moreWe had been without heat for a month. We called them and they were out the next day there and got it done in one day. I won't go with anyone else now. There were two techs. Their guarantee on what they do is 12 years. We got a e-bate back from KCP&L for $1100 because a new energy heat pump being put in. Our electrical company gave us a rebate of $1050 and the money we saved for being military and other specials, we saved another $2000. Their warranty is wonderful. They take care of this, twice a year, for the next 4 or 5 years. They automatically check and take care of everything. The city came out to inspect the pump and said they did an excellent job. The techs were very courteous, fun, quiet they went about their business and got the work done. You couldn't ask for nicer people.
Description of Work: Replaced heat pump and completely redid our heating service.
