About us

Aleda and Bill Posladek are the founders of A.B. May. They purchased May Furnace Company in 1959. They renamed it A.B. May A for Aleda and B for Bill and set out to offer Kansas City comfort and top quality service with a few employees and four trucks. Over the years we have expanded to offer Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Electrical, and Appliance repair services. In the mid-1970’s we pioneered one of the first homeowner warranties in the industry. Today, we give thousands of Kansas City homeowners a plan for home repairs through our Home Warranties for home buyers and our Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Value service plans. In the nearly 60 years since our business began, we have grown to employ more than 275 people and taken care of thousands of home repair needs for our friends and neighbors that call Kansas City home. Rusty arrived promptly. He was very professional yet personable. He found the problem with no difficulty and was able to fix the furnace without problem. He gave me a few suggestions regarding my vents which I really appreciated. I have a service /warranty agreement with AB May which is why there was no cost.
Description of Work: My furnace had shut itself off a couple of nights before for no apparent reason. Fortunately I was able to turn off and on and it reset itself but I knew it needed to be checked.

Great. Central heating works great and has a 12 year guarantee.

Bret arrived around 6 am and he was still bright and energetic even though e had been busy working all night. He quickly diagnosed the problem (a cracked socket in the dishwater) and repaired the turnoff close to the dishwasher so I could get the water to the rest of the house back on.
Description of Work: Late evening water was pouring all over my kitchen floor. Trying to turn the knobs off close to the source did not work. After several minutes of panic and mopping up water I finally realized that I needed to turn off the water at the main water source to stop the deluge. It was a busy and frigid night and the when the service rep called me back he wanted to make sure that I had the water turned off and he gave me an estimate of when he could arrive given that he had 5 or 6 people in front of me.

Joe Salva did did an excellent job of replacing the pipe. He squeezed me in between appts and was very friendly. He was able to save me some money as well by upgrading my home warranty. Great job Joe! Recommend highly.

I have a service plan with AB May. I called to report the problem and was lucky to have a plumber sent out within the hour. He was able to fix the problem and helped me clean up the water on the floor to stop it from damaging dry wall in the bathroom. He really saved the day for me. The price charged was the service fee for my Gold Plan.

I had an excellent HVAC maintenance visit with Erik. Highly informative and he was a kind man that provides some of ABMAY's best customer contact I've ever received. He gave suggestions for future maintenance and informed me which MERV fits my unit when ordering filters. All the HVAC guys have been stellar--as was my last plumber.
Description of Work: Erik Rodriguez is a wonderful HVAC technician. My maintenance went well. However my service via this company is declining. I have owned 3 homes under this Warranty and when I lived in a $499K house with a husband, this Company was stellar. Divorced him, moved to a $150 house and the service diminished. Now that I'm in a $50K house, I'm treated as if I have the plague and am a subpar begging-type customer now. I had to pay for a dishwasher with service calls before I received a voucher to replace it. Never had I EVER had to call them over and over and over and over before an appliance was replaced. I'm no longer believed about the issue, a supervisor is now required to come to "access my refrigerator not closing" the nextracts tI'm it happens. I'm assuming it's what the tech said who is not allowed in my home: "wow, your house is clean, we hardly get that over in "this" neighborhood." Seems about right when it comes to me and this home. Disgustingly biased based on where you live and what kind of home you live in. Heard it directly from an ABMAY technician's mouth.
