flooring contractor, hardwood floor
+ 0 moreOur experiences with Mr Ochoa have been a disaster. He has our money and has the materials which he can remill to a narrower width and resell and yet he refuses to return our money. We sent a letter from our lawyer and he still refuses. We are not suing in small claims court because we would not be able to collect our money from him even after winning the judgment and it's not worth the hassle. He will have to answer to a much higher authority someday.
Description of Work: No work was completed for us using the materials we ordered from Mr Ochoa. We do have a beautiful hardwood floor installed now with flooring purchased elsewhere. He was supposed to mill and deliver unfinished hardwood flooring to be installed by our experienced installer (Mark Friend) and then finished by Mr. Ochoa. The boards he delivered were not uniformly milled. They were all different widths. Some boards were different widths from one end to the other. We have photographs of a third of a room installed with his flooring that show the gaps between boards caused by the irregular widths. He blamed the installer. We had Mr Ochoa pick up the boards because we were so unsatisfied with the quality of the wood. We reordered Bruce prefinished flooring from Trade -X and Mark Friend installed it with no problem. It is beautiful. Mr Ochoa will not return our deposit of approx $1800.00. And we had to pay several hundred dollars extra labor to have the inferior floor partially installed and then ripped out.
