MC DOWELL ROOFING

I hired McDowell Roofing to replace my roof. The work was done 08/09/2012. The following spring Joplin had very heavy rains. My roof leaked causing damage to the interior of my home. I contacted Donny McDowell and he came back out and repaired the flashing around my chimney and said he thinks the problem is fixed. I had my house for sale during this time and my house was vacant. I met with Donny to go over the interior damage and he said he would make it right. I had black mold on my sheetrock and he was only willing to scrape it off and spray it with some mold treatment from the hardware store. I told him that was not satisfactory. The sheetrock needed to be replaced and I wanted a mold remediator brought in to take care of the mold situation. Mcdowell roofing to date 06/05/2014 has never gotten back with me. I have had two roofing companies come out and inspect me roofing concerns and both companies stated the installation of the entire roof was inadequate. I paid them $7800 for a job and I have had nothing but problems ever since. I am going to have replace my roof again so that it is up to code.The moisture level was so high that I lost my floor tile as well. The additional repair cost are approximately $4ooo. I would not recommend this company to even roof a doghouse.

I had been happy with previous dealings with Claude Mc Dowell. So I called him and ask him to take care of the building. His men were there proply, but after only a couple of years the roof began to bubble and buckle. It took several trips by Claude, we even sent shingles off to be tested. The shingles were fine. It was not until another com[any was called and we began to strip the new work off that we found the problems. The decking on the old roof was in disrepair. McDowells people had stapled some thin aluminum over the large holes in some slapstick fashion, rather than repair the decking properly. In addition there were entire areas of the roof that they failed to put under lament on. No felt paper over entire areas. There was nothing solid under many areas of the roof for the shingles to adhere to. The roof leaked so bad I had to make repairs to the interior as well. The costs were such that a lawsuit was made and a settlement finally reached. I do not know if his work practices or his employees have learned more since 2003, but I don't plan on using his services, even though he seemed like a very good guy. He just didn't stand behind his work.

He had me done in a day and a half and his price was cheap compared to the other ones. I was watching for leaks when we had four inches of rain, but there weren’t any.
