Update: Doug came out to my house and was very responsive and professional. He agreed to retreat the area even though it isn't clear whether the smell is from his treatment. I am very pleased with his response to my review. I changed my evaluation to reflect this. Earlier: When I called Doug's Chem Dry I asked for a loose estimate on carpet cleaning for 3 bedrooms, a hallway, a dining room and living room in a 2100 square foot house, plus cleaning 2 recliners. The person I spoke to thought it would be around $300 or less. When the carpet cleaner arrived he measured the house and then increased the estimate to about $400. Then he said, since I have pets, he recommended an additional treatment so the carpets wouldn't smell after the cleaning. That increased the estimate to $500. Then he recommended another treatment so the carpet wouldn't smell immediately after cleaning (for another $100) which I declined. So right off the bat the cost nearly doubled. When I questioned this he made a comment that he hates it when the people scheduling the service don't tell the homeowner about the odor treatment. I asked if they had included the Angie's list coupon and he said they did. I would have cancelled right then, but I was expecting a group of houseguests in just a few days. After spending all that money, the serviceman left white marks all over my baseboards and on the edge of my hardwood floors. They wiped up, but it was a pain to clean up - especially after I paid so much for the service. Now, more than a month later, my carpets have a weird odor that doesn't seem to be dissipating.

He thoroughly cleaned living room and bedrooms. Including moving some furniture.

Responsive to emails and phone calls. Very friendly, very professional. The carpets look great - and even better - smell fantastic! Had terrible pet odor and it's 95% gone. I'm not sure anything short of replacing the carpets will fix the problem completely, but this is really close. Very happy.

They used a pet/child friendly process that was important for us since we have two dogs and a nine month old that are in constant contact with the carpets. Also, it dried reasonably fast. They were able to remove stains, including spilled wax, and the carpet looked nice...almost fluffy, when it was finished. They were able to set up an appointment within a few days, too, which was convenient.

I've had very good results from Doug's Chem Dry. The company seems to have regular Columbia routes despite being based in Jefferson City; I never have trouble scheduling within a week of when I call. The same tech, Jason D., has been in charge all three times, and he is unfailingly prompt, cheerful, thorough, and efficient. The carpets dry quickly with the Chem Dry method -- much more quickly than steam cleaning. And I'm always delighted at how well the tracked in mud, food and drink spills, and occasional cat sick are lifted from our fairly plush light grey carpet.

Prompt and courteous, friendly service from Doug's Chem Dry Customer Service and cleaning the two person cleaning staff. Cleaners arrived early, thoroughly outlined the carpet cleaning procedure, concurred, at my request, the corduroy recliner would benefit from a cleaning ($20 extra, fine with me, with an excellent result) and assured me I could stay in apartment during process. I elected to leave (company is bonded) and returned at noon with the carpet dry and clean. It's a pretty dreadful brown and white splotch-pattern carpet through the apartment, only now it is a CLEAN brown and white splotch-patterned carpet throughout my apartment! Very happy with my selection of Doug's Chem Dry and two thumbs up, highly recommended!

The service man was 15 minutes early to the appointment. He described the chemicals he was putting on the carpets to be cleaned. He gave me a timeframe for how long the pre-treated areas would be wet. Overall from the secretary making the appointments to the carpet cleaners, everyone was polite and courteous. When the service man, Justin, returned to finish the job with the cleaning tool, he was polite and friendly again. he did a great job cleaning up after himself. He also made me aware of other jobs the company can perform, like tile cleaning. I also received a follow up call and a thank you note in the mail.

I haven't had long enough to see how long it will last, but it looks much, much better, and I'm very pleased with the job so far.

Excellent results. Had to return to redo the plant watering stains. Returned promptly and stains appear to be gone.

The staff is very professional. They had good follow through and started and finished on time. The price was whatever he quoted us which was great.

c.c Very satisfactory. Years ago I had one or two rooms cleaned with a tradiional wet process--the result was equally good but very wet. For several hours afterward. Doug and asst. entered,professional in every respect, briefly toured the house and set up their equipment. We have a free-flying lovebird and a tiny dog; all parties ignored each other. At the end, they showed me two spots in the basement that they simply could not clean throughly--later, I discovered that outside water had been seeping in and leaving a clay deposit. I had to scrape that up later and scrub with harsh cleansers. My wife didn't think it was such great work but I believe she was carrying in her mind the ads from college kids to clean "4 rooms for (about) $10." I believe that if a thing sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Doug charged $344 for about 4 hours work, or $86/hour for two fellows. I've paid more for cable service and car repair and received less satisfactory results.
