Everything went well. The crew was young but very professional. They were very quick. it was a great experience. I would recommend this company again.

It went great. Before the move, one of the owners came to tour the house and provide an estimate. I was able to call throughout the time I was preparing to move to ask questions about what and how to pack and they were very patient with all my inquiries (e.g. "Can I leave clothes in the dressers?" "Can you move framed art?" etc). The 3-man crew worked hard to load our many boxes and all our furniture into the truck and unload them at our new house a few miles away. They took apart and reassembled furniture where necessary, brought and loaded their own wardrobe boxes to move our hanging clothing, and didn't cause any damage to any moved items or to either property. The men were respectful and polite. They were even patient with special requests, like holding up pieces of furniture to allow me to put little felt stickers under everything so that the new wood floors wouldn't be damaged. They declined my offer to provide lunch so that they could keep working hard. My only complaint is that the move ended up taking a while longer than was predicted in the estimate. Our final cost of $780 exceeded the estimate by $180. However, I appreciated that the owner of the company called me later on the day of the move to ask how things went. I told him that this difference was my only disappointment and he indicated that one reason for things taking longer is that the truck had to park in the street, rather than in a driveway, which slowed them down. If I had any reason to think the crew hadn't given the move their all, I might complain about the cost. However, all the men worked diligently and I still think I paid a fair price for the amount of work they did. I would not hesitate to recommend McDermott Movers and would use them again myself.

The crew I had (one supervisor and 2 younger guys) were to come between 7:30 - 8:00 am, and they arrived at 8:15 am. I know because I was constantly checking the time. They got right to work; were polite and efficient. Nothing broke (except the bottom of a box I packed myself, which was my fault). I did do a once through and had to point out something they had clearly forgotten in the attic. Also, one of the young guys put a heavy object on top of my planter full of mums, breaking off most of them. Ugh!!They worked quickly to get me out of the old house and up the street and moved into the new one. The only complaint I have is that I felt the supervisor took advantage of me, a single woman, and charged me more than he should have. I know what time they arrived and what time they finished. The owner did explain when I booked that I would be charged for the time it took to travel from Independence to my home in the Brookside area, and that seemed fair. But the supervisor charged me 1.5 hours more than the hours they worked actually moving me, and that is far longer than it takes to drive that distance. Other than that, I had a very satisfying experience.

They just moved some stuffs. They moved my mother’s house. They moved from her house to my house and all the things that contains in her house to mine then over to my sister-in-law’s house. They were very helpful in that. I also had other clients that actually referred them. They were just very helpful and made sure everything was clean and good. I had no problems with breakage or that sort of thing.

They showed up on time and went to work packing and loading. They got me loaded, unloaded and moved quicker than I could imagine with no trouble. They were very helpful with any request that I made. I was very happy with the work they performed and the price was great. The whole move went off without a hitch.

They did a great job. They are very professional, thorough, and careful with our things.

McDermott gave us a quote and then sent someone out to the house to bring us packing boxes and assess our move in person. We were warned our stuff may not all fix on a 26' rental truck but they would do our best. A team of three movers arrived on the morning of 12/8/11. They were professional, courteous, and efficient. They nearly packed everything into the truck, and they did it QUICKLY and without harming anything. The end price was almost exactly what they quoted us. My husband and I can't say enough about this moving company. They made our KC portion of our move stress-free. They only do LOCAL moves, so please note you cannot hire them for out of town moves.

No one showed up to quote on a job. McDermott was suppose to quote on a moving job at 1PM. No one showed up or called to cancel. I am very disappointed in the unprofessional attitude of this company. I would never hire a company that didn't have the consideration of calling and trying to reschedule. To this date (6 days) later I still haven't heard from them.

I spent about $475 on that service. It is a small business and is a father and son company. The customer service was outstanding. I did not check the prices elsewhere, so I don’t know how they would fair.

We had them move our large furniture and appliances. They showed up right on time and worked VERY fast. Very professional, nothing broken or damaged.

From scheduling (we had to reschedule once) to getting the work done, Bob McDermott and his team were prompt, fast, careful and professional. We were leery about booking a moving company on an hourly basis, but went ahead and made our first appointment, largely based on a friend's recommendation. I never felt like the guys moved slowly. In fact, these guys were extremely fast, yet careful, with the items we asked them to move, most of which were not light. Nothing was scratched and they put items where we wanted them. Bottom line, we couldn't be happier with McDermott. They worked so well for us the first time that we asked them to help us with the second move. We would absolutely work with them again and recommend them to anyone in need of professional moving services!! One note: they do not accept Credit Cards. This worked fine for us, but just keep that in mind when budgeting.

I found there service satisfactory.

I was very happy with their work. I was a little apprehensive about paying by the hour, but these guys really hustle. They work hard and quickly, are very strong, all speak English as native language. Three guys came to move my stuff; one of the guys was the crew boss and kept the other guys organized and hustling. They also asked me where I wanted each piece of furniture and box in the new house and placed it exactly where I wanted it. They took apart and put together the bed frame. They could not hook up washer and dryer for me due to insurance issues, but I handled that myself. As long as you are completely packed and ready when they get there, you will find that they are completed in a very short amount of time for such much stuff. I tipped them well because I've paid $800-1000 for similar moves, but since they only took 4 hours, I paid them much less. Highly recommended.

Overall - I think our move went very well. The guys were friendly, helpful, and strong. They really knew what they were doing. I was impressed by how fast they worked and how easily they could manuver furniture around. The moved cost more than I had anticipated tho... but, I'm still very happy with their service and would recommend them to others

Generally good, very prompt & efficient, polite and thoughtful. Some breakage which was avoidable.

The moving company arrived on time, very professional. I have never used a moving company before and I am happy I chose this company.

The McDermott company works on an hourly basis and I had only planned on moving the necessary items for the sale, but the guys were so great, I decided to have them haul everything they could fit in their truck. I had planned to get an estimate for the rest of my books, art, antiques, etc. From what I thought might me a more experienced company and schedule our final move with them, but have decided to have the McDermott Company finish the move when we are ready. Not only did they work the entire time, so I got my money's worth, they were very professional, intelligent, nice men and they took great care with my things. I would highly recommend their services.

They had two crews of three people each start at the two respective locations and meet at the new home. Good workers but they showed up late blaming traffic but charged us for the time nonetheless. They were professionally dressed, mannered and good at fitting large pieces up narrow stairs. A surprising amount of stuff was damaged, however, as the move was only two blocks. They were very expensive and the quality of the work did not match the price.

IT WAS VERY GOOD!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND ARE VERY PREPARED. THEY EVEN RECOMMENDED A PLACE TO GET BOXES AND WRAPPING PAPER AT A LOWER COST.
