Unfortunately, this moving company was booked when I called for quotes, and we were unable to be flexible. We hired another company and were absolutely dissatisfied with them. The owner from McDermott was so nice and courteous when I talked with him. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them based solely on that. I wish that we would have just changed our date and used them.

They did an outstanding job. I would reccomend them over any other mover I've ever had. The owner came out himself to check on the job.

McDermott Moving did a fantastic job moving my family's home. I highly recommend them. Very careful, courteous and fast (but not too fast). We had Chuck, Josh and Dan -- great workers!

Movers were on time and continued to work until job was complete, including eating lunch on the move. Everything was well positioned in truck, and movers were careful in the entire process. I would highly recommend this company for any moving job.

Movers provided boxes and packing material well in advance; we did the packing. Answered all our questions before the move, showed up on time with adequate staffing. They handled everything professionally and safely - loading and unloading. Finished the job in the time frame estimated and all of the movers were helpful, courteous and appropriately careful with our possessions. I hate the idea of moving again, but if we have do, we would hire them back in a minute.

I contacted McDermott Moving company just over a week before my move. We were moving into a new house and had a one-day window to get everything moved. Our plan was to pack everything up into boxes ourselves and have the movers load/transport/unload the boxes, furniture, and appliances between locations. My phone call to McDermott Moving took less than 15 minutes to get a quote and set up the move details. They were very clear and up front on pricing and all of the values seemed quite reasonable. The day before the move I received a confirmation call from the owner. On the day of the move, the workers showed up within 15 minutes of their predicted window. They were very friendly and professional and got to work right away. Everything went precisely as discussed over the phone with no surprises. Our move took approximately 5 hours from start to finish and the final price was within 10 percent of the quote, which completely impressed me. Especially given that this all occurred about 2 days after the area was smattered with 12" inches of snow. I would definitely hire these folks again for moving. This company is very professional, shows up on time and does a great job. It was not easy to move this old tub (500 lbs.) off the second floor, but they did it easily and quickly.

They professional, carful and nice. Some providers tend to bounce the stuff on the truck, but they were very carful with my belongings with loading and unloading.

I used this company because my brother, a local contractor, uses them for moving his show homes, and he highly recommended them. I now know why he uses them. They are fantastic! The experience from start to finish was great. They are polite, professional, and very experienced. My husband and I had a complicated move, because our move out date was different than our move in date. But they made it very easy. They moved all of our things out of our loft quickly, without any issues. The 3 man crew worked together and were very proficient. They had all the tools needed to make our move successful and they provided us with free wardrobe boxes. The leader/foreman of the crew did an amazing job of encouraging and guiding his team with difficult turns, angles, and large pieces of furniture. After they loaded our things in record time, they stored it for us for three days before we could move into our new home. The same crew met us on our move-in day and we walked through the house to make sure they knew where everything went before unloading. Again, they worked quickly and had everything in the correct places in only a few hours without any damages or issues. They even followed up with a courtesy call the next day to make sure we were satisfied. I will definitely use them again for any future moving needs. They were wonderful!

Phone inquiry was promptly returned. Complete information was provided regarding pricing. Crew was professional and friendly; showed up on time with all necessary equipment and completed the move within estimated time. No surprises!

We contacted this company 2 days before we needed the furniture to be moved. The whole experience was fantastic. The company had a job in Shawnee, KS in the morning so didn't start charging for time until they arrived at the site in Overland Park. The crew was excellent. They were very professional and very quick. They even assisted with putting felt pads on the furnture before setting it up for us.

My new driveway was a tremendous challenge and Tom came out weeks early to survey the situation and adroitly chose the right truck sizes to use. The movers were enthusiastic, cheerful, fast and even sang while they worked. Loved it! And they actually finished in less time than anticipated with the result that the cost was even less than bid. We really enjoyed these folks.

Bob was very apologetic for not being able to move me at the timeof my request because their schedule was booked for when I needed to move. He personally recommended another moving company for me. Bob ended up calling the other company for me so they was already expecting my call. He put in a good word for me and made sure to follow up with me afterwards. I would highly recommend Mcdermott to others based on my first hand experience.

The move experience was very pleasant. The staff was nice, courteous and understanding of what I wanted and needed done. They were also very careful with my items. I would be move then happy to use them again. Additionally, I believe that their pricing is fair for the service unlike other moving companies I have used in the past.

The mover were on time and very professionable. They moved fast and took care of every piece of furniture they carried. My husband and I was very pleased.

I had a viking gas range and a builtin refrigerator that I needed moved from my basement into my house. It was a difficult move because the refrigerator is top heavy and there wasn't much room to get the large unit into my new kitchen. Belieive me if you have a hard item to move , these are the guys to hire. They got both items in without a scratch. They made what was a difficult job look easy.

From the first phone call, to the estimate, to the packing, and the move in, they built confidence in their abilities. And they delivered on that confidence. Never again will I seek anyone but them for future moves. Of note was that I could not even be there for the packing and move; it had to be handled by my spouse alone. She gave them the highest marks for making it easy on her, without a hitch. McDermott did a fantastic job.

It was a very good experience. They were on-time and efficient. They made great usage of the space on a large truck. They treated our furniture and antiques with great care.

The absolute professionalism and quality of their packing and moving team is unparalleled in my experience. The packing team arrived and worked as fast as I have ever seen a packing team work before. We were moving 1200 square feet of furniture and possessions from our 3 bedroom home and it was all packed, organized and staged for moving in 3 hours. Everything was labeled correctly and they even packed and meticulously handled mirrors, large flower arrangement and several paintings with great care. The moving team was just as efficient, they loaded the truck and moved us into our new home across town with two trips, in right at 4 hours. We waited until we finished unpacking for this review to make sure, but there was not one thing scratched or a single glass or plate chipped or broken. Additinally, we were working under a very short window to turn over possession of the home and the packing and moving teams worked very hard to be on time and make the deadline perfectly...Thank you! I cannot recommend McDermott Moving highly enough. Their cost was almost half of all of the other crews I interviewed and that was without packing. We were packed and moved for what College Hunks and several others wanted just to move us.

Mr. McDermott told me what all the costs would be (they charge by the hour all inclusive) based on the location and type of move. He was very helpful and was able to be flexible when we had a very tight moving schedule and had to move the date. His crew showed up promptly, worked hard and were very positive on what was otherwise a very stressful day. Nothing was damaged or lost in transit. We had to move into a temporary unit because our unit was not yet finished. We called McDermott Moving back two weeks later to move everything from a storage unit and another apartment to the final unit. Again the crew was prompt, hard-working, polite, and helpful. We paid an additional $375 for the 2nd move. We hope we never need another moving company, but if we did, we would use McDermott!

They did a very efficient, fast and professional move for us. The guys were great. Would definitely use them again!

It rained very hard that day and the crew took extra precautions to keep our furniture dry while loading and unloading. They got very wet but didn't let it slow them down or dampen their spirits.
