Description of Work: The move was less than six miles. It took less than three hours to load up the furniture from the old house and move and unload at the new house. They even put down rugs and pads for me in the living room and dining room. They were very polite and professional. I have already recommended them to another friend who also used their services and was very impressed with McDermott Moving.

Description of Work: Moved my dad from his duplex to assisted living facility. They stayed in touch every step of the way from scheduling to check how things went after the move. They were punctual, friendly and professional. They will be my first call for any other moving needs I have.

Description of Work: McDermott moved items from a storage facility to my home. The movers were efficient and personable. This goes for the founder as well. He answers the main phone. He was very proud of the fact they have been in business for so long. He even called me on Sunday to confirm my appointment for the next day! I felt important even though this was a relatively small move. Highly recommended.

Description of Work: McDermott did a complicated move for us. They packed and moved us to a new location while storing about 2/3 of our furniture. On the moving day they showed up with two trucks and loaded one for storage and the other for our move. They did a great job of staging and coordination and the crews were very sharp and professional. I will use them again.

Description of Work: They came in so quickly with the furniture and boxes and I didn't have time to think. I ended up having to hire someone else help me unpack and carrying items upstairs and downstairs because they just put everything everywhere. They then wanted me to take 6 closets of clothing out of the wardrobe boxes so they could take the boxes with them or charge me for them. I told them to give me a week to get organized and the boxes would be waiting for them then. I called four times telling them the wardrobe boxes were empty and waiting but despite numerous promises to pick them up, they never returned. I was not reimbursed for the boxes and I ended up throwing away 12 wardrobes that I had no room for. I provided lunch and soft drinks which they helped themselves to without asking and thanking me (maybe one guy did). This company came highly recommended but I would never use them again or recommend them. Plus, the price came in $800 over the estimate even though I packed 90% of the items myself. |Stay Away!!!

Description of Work: I moved after selling a home I had lived in for 13 years. I contacted Mr McDermott after recommendations from friends. He returned my call promptly, answered all my questions and provided his recommendation which was excellent. Two trucks arrived promptly at the designated time, loaded and unloaded at my new home in about 4 hours. The movers were excellent, ensuring everything was moved to my satifisation. I especially appreciated their consideration toward my beloved pups, who were safely tucked away in their crates until the very last, when my pups were moved to my vehicle and their crates loaded onto the truck. With two trucks and six movers, the price was very reasonable and I would definately use this company should I move within the metro area again.

Description of Work: I called MCDERMOTT MOVING COMPANY on 12.20. They had a window of time within the hour to complete my small job. The crew was prompt, and called me prior to arrival. They were friendly, professional, and worked very quickly. There was no damage to my furniture. It was a snowy, no school day, and one of the pieces I had moved was in the garage and needed to be carried around the house to go in the front door. This was no problem for them. (We did have the drive and walk shoveled.) The $250 charge seemed high for the job, but it was their minimum, and this was explained to me when I made the arrangements. It was not their issue that I had only 2 items to be moved. One thing they might have suggested: working my job in when they were doing another job in the area, and reducing the charge to me. I was eager to have the pieces moved before Christmas, but I would have strongly considered waiting, if it meant a lesser charge. I was very pleased with the company and would use them again. I will definately recommend them to others.

Description of Work: These guys were GREAT! They arrived on time, wanted a tour of my home items to be loaded, and then went right to work! They asked questions if they were uncertain about something, notified me of a crack they saw on an antique bed leg before it was moved, and were very efficient in their work. My three bedroom house was loaded and ready in an hour and 45 minutes! They were even kind enough to bring down some extra items we had room for on the truck. When we arrived at the new location they also did a great job of putting furniture where ever we asked. They asked me to be sure to let them know exactly where I wanted the beds located before they put them back together! I would definitely recommend this company again!!! They were great and very professional! Their trucks were clean and well-stocked with the necessary padding materials. But, most of all, they asked questions and listened to me as the moving homeowner. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to learn that the cost was under the estimate. Their work was based strictly on the hour, and they didn't waste any time! I appreciate that and you will too! My entire family was also very impressed with their work! You will be glad to be a customer of McDermott Moving!
