I have 25 years of experience in the fence business. With the exception of a few decks, fence is all I do. This is not a side job for me. I do not paint or mow lawns, and of course, I won’t do windows!
I will do what is best for you, not just what suits me. If I am not the right guy for your job, I will tell you so, tell you why, and then tell you who is. I will not get a bid from elsewhere and then tack on 25%.
Last but in no way least, I’m not asking you to have faith. I prove everything I say with a Reference List, people you can talk to, jobs you can go see, an Installation Guide so you know exactly how your fence will be made and a Guarantee to boot.

Mark told us that the entire project would take 7-10 days to complete. What a joke... Mark told us that he would start on August 9, 2017. On August 8, 2017 I removed all of the existing fence. Mark didn't show up until Aug. 14th to dig the holes and set SOME of the posts. He sold us on Postmater posts by Master Halco. He did not install the posts per the manufacturer's recommendation. The posts are to be installed on 96" centers, or less. Six fence sections are wider than 8', and two of those are almost 10' Two of the corners of the fence were not even tied together! He let the rails run long, didn't install corner posts or attach the rails together in the corners and picketed the fence... What kind of fence builder doesn't install corner posts? Our original fence had a 7' wide double gate. We told Mark that we needed at least a 6' opening to get a bobcat in the yard, next spring, for pool construction. We now have a gate opening of 5 1/2'. When I asked Mark about this, he asked me why I was complaining?!? The fence was supposed to be a board on board design with overlapping pickets. We specifically asked for a 4" gap between the pickets on the bottom layer, so that a 5 1/2" wide picket would overlap on each side by 3/4". The goal was complete privacy. The way that Mark chose to install the pickets allowed gaps, not complete coverage, and many of the pickets were nailed so close to the edge that the pickets split.Quite a few of the pickets are not plumb. One of the pickets was so badly warped, it was literally "C" shaped and they installed it anyway...I still have approximately 100 pickets in my driveway, There was absolutely no reason to install a board that was warped that badly. When we asked Mark why they were installed that way, he told me that he "wasn't building cabinets." On Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, I told Mark that my neighbors were really starting to complain about the delays and not being able to let their dogs out. One of my neighbors is retired, and he is home all day. He told me that Mark rarely arrived before 10:30 am, and was never there more than a few hours. On Sept. 6,2017, Mark told me that he wold be finished by the end of the week (Sept 8, 2017). On Sept. 13,2017 (5 weeks into this 7-10 day project) I told Mark I was tired of being ambushed by my neighbors as soon as I pulled into the driveway after work. Numerous days had gone by that he hadn't even been to my home. I told him that I would give him until Wednesday Sept. 20, 2017 to complete the fence. If the fence was still not complete, I would hire another contractor to fix his shoddy carpentry and finish our fence. He told me that he needed to buy a step drill bit to install the gate latch, and complete a small section next to the house. He never came back. He still has approximately $200.00 worth of latches, screws, and hardware that I purchased. He used one of my buckets to mix concrete in, and didn't bother to clean it out. He also left a large pile of cups, bottles, and wood scraps for us to clean up.It is IMPOSSIBLE to get him to answer his phone. He will tell you that this is because he is a small businessman and he is working. It is also highly unlikely that he will even return your phone call in less than 48 hours. I asked him repeatedly to call me to discuss issues. If he did respond, it was via email. The only way that I could have a face to face conversation with the man was to leave work, drive to my house and hope that he had decided to work on our project that day. I actually stayed home one morning to talk to him about our concerns. He told me that he had all day free to finish up our fence. At 12:15, I decided to go to work since he still hadn't shown up. Stay far away from this outfit if you are looking for quality craftsmanship or a project that you expect to be completed in a timely manner.
Description of Work: We hired M & R Fence (Mark Maley) to build 260' of 6' cedar board on board privacy fence with a 2x6 rough cedar top cap and 1x4 cedar trim. Mark came out in mid July to look at the yard and measure the existing fence. I explained to Mark EXACTLY what we wanted and gave him several pictures of other fences so he would be clear on what we wanted.

I called him at 9:30 in the morning and by 1:50 in the afternoon the repairs were completed. We also discussed future fencing that I was interested in and he gave me ball park estimates for planning. He was very responsive and customer oriented and seemed to really know his way around all types of fencing. I would recommend him and plan to call him for all my future fencing needs.
Description of Work: I needed some minor repairs to my chain link fence. Mark was to provide an estimate. It turned out that he ended up making the needed adjustments at no cost to me.

Mark from M& R Custom Fencing was the only contractor out of 4 that bothered to return my inquiry for an estimate to replace our old wooden picket fence. He was very quick to respond and to arrange a time to come out (across town) to see what needed to be done. His estimate was fair and installation could begin the next week. I explained about a problems neighbor on one side of the house and he promised to address that side first. Mark arrived when he said he would and was fast and tidy with his removal of the old fence. He did as promised and rebuilt the fence on the side with the problem neighbor first. The rest of the fence was put up the next day. We are very pleased with the fence and even more with the professionalism of Mark and his crew. We will be happy to recommend Mark and his company to others. He was a pleasure to work with and his work was top-notch.

Installed privacy fence with a single gate and a double gate. Cedar pickets, treated rails and posts. Mark was excellent to work with. Very friendly and explained everything very well. Did a very nice job. Took a couple of months to get installed due to weather and schedule. But I was not in any hurry, so that was not a problem at all. We also had issues with our neighbors and the location of our back property line. Dealing with the neighbors also delayed things. Mark did some research with the recorded subdivision plats and came out and found the survey pins and marked them. The neighbors still weren't satisfied and so they hired a surveyor which confirmed the location of the pins identified by Mark. We had a tree that straddled the property line, and when the neighbor was unwilling to allow the fence to go around the tree, Mark was able to build the fence up to the tree and incorporate it into the fence. From our side you can't even tell. Very happy and would highly recommend. Fence looks great.

They did a fine job. The only issue is we didn't have great communication. I never knew when they were coming out.

Description of Work: They installed a fence in our back yard. It went very well and we are satisfied. We had to wait quite a while as they were backed up but the owner does a lot of the work himself so we liked the hands on approach. Mark was very knowledgeable about his products and offered good advice.

It went very well. We entertained several bids and went with Mark because he was knowledgeable and friendly. We did the tear out ourselves to save a few bucks. Just should've paid Mark to do it in hind sight, it was a bear of a job without machinery. The work took about 4-5 days- the initial preparation and tear out of old posts was done with a helper or two but the build was done by Mark. Mark got compliments from neighbors as he worked and we did as well. Mark and I discussed some ways that he could have modified the fence to make it fancier- after the job was done. I was happy to hear he was open to some artistic brainstorming and would definitely consider having him back to make some changes/upgrades for connected rose trellises, arched walk gate and such. At this time we are having some problems with the walk gate and posts settling. Mark answered the phone and remembered us-- he'll be out to make the fix ASAP.
Description of Work: Mark built a 6' privacy fence for us with a walk gate. @ 212 ft of 6' Cedar and 20 ft of 4'.

It went very well. Mark was prompt and professional and garunteed that the dogs would not get out or get caught. When he was finished it looked great and there is no opportunity for the dogs to get out or get caught. He was patient with me when I inspected the finished product and promptly fixe one place where I thought maybe they could still get a head in. The price was a little higher than I expected, but other estimates came within that range...so I suppose it was reasonable. It also took a little longer than I expected, but overall it was a painless process and I'm very satisfied with the end result. I would recommend this company to anyone wanting to install a fence.
Description of Work: I had a chain link fence installed with two gates on each side of the house. Medium sized yard needing a fence that would curve with the landscape. I have two small dogs and was particularly interested in eliminating any chance they could squeeze thru between the house and the fence or a gap between my fence and the neighbors. Or...get their head caught if the gap was just wide enough.
