Atlantis Drainage Solutions

Drain Pipe Installation, Basement Waterproofing, Foundation Repair,

About us

Atlantis Drainage Solutions was incorporated in 1997. The President, Ken Banks, was previously employed with a local foundation repair company for 6 1/2 years before starting his own company. It was his belief based on personal experience, as well as professional engineer statements, that the majority (85%) of wet basements could be made dry or maintained dry by improving and managing the water run-off (drainage) around the structure. Therefore our motto became, We Correct the Cause Not the Symptom!

They did good work. However, they promised to set me up with an electrician to do the electrical connections. They never did despite my repeated calls. Once they got paid they lost interest and did not follow up.

I cannot begin to express how displeased I am with their service. I have been waiting months for them to take care of my drain. I have called several times to check project status only to learn that they had forgotten about my project or hear, “I was just about to call you.” Even after I expressed my frustration with hanging around my house waiting for them to show up for a scheduled appointment, nothing in their performance changed. Most recently, they were supposed to be here last Friday, but they didn’t do the work and no phone call or email came explaining why they weren’t here or to reschedule the appointment. I canceled my project with them.

It was a three day job. From initial contact to job completion was right around two months. Brad was very courteous in our correspondence. Response time was a little slow, but given the heavy rains in August this part was understandable. I would definitely work with them in the future if the need arose.
Description of Work: ADS dug a french drain in front of my house to prevent basement leaking near the window wells out front. They added a larger window well, regraded the soil around the foundation, and added a waterproofing membrane to the southwest window well.

Brad Keller, the owner of Atlantis Drain Solutions, came out to look at the job. We expressed our concerns that water was getting into our basement. He suggested this duel system with great confidence. He assured us that it should resolve the problem. We told Brad that we would like decorative rock to cover the drain system, but he recommended grass instead. He said they had had good results with the grass. We had our concerns due to the amount of water coming down the surface and the incline, but we concurred with his recommendation; him being the expert. I remember his last words, “I’m going to do a good job for you.” Brad’s recommendation of grass instead of decorative rock turned out to be a bad idea. All the top soil and seed they put down washed away when we had the spring rain. I would think an “expert” would know better! So, what we ended up with was a big muddy mess with no grass, and a lot of mud in the drainage system that I had to clean out myself. Yes, I had to do it because my husband is in a wheelchair and couldn’t. We called Brad out to look at the mess. We expected him to take SOME responsibility, but he took none! On the contrary, when my husband stated that we had originally asked for rock, Brad was sarcastic and said in a snarky way, “I guess I should have listened to you!” Then he said he was trying to save us money! He said he would fix the mess (his mess by the way) and sent us another proposal for an additional $795.00! How is that saving us money?? Oh, by the way… did I mention that we still have water getting in our basement? When my husband mentioned this in an email, Brad didn’t even respond. That’s right. No response whatsoever. I had hoped that ADS would feel some responsibility to make this right, but they don’t. I even told Brad when he came out that we would pay them an additional $500.00 to fix the mess (More than the cost of rock, by the way), but he declined. Instead we received his new proposal for $795.00. So… I purchased 23 bags of decorative rock (total cost $307.89) from Home Depot. I will have to remove the remainder of dirt left behind, fill in some of the areas with more fabric (which we have on hand), and put the decorative rock down myself. My husband can’t help me, bless his heart, but I’m sure he will be there for moral support. I have included photos for a clearer explanation. Conclusion: It truly disturbs me that a company so highly acclaimed by Angie’s List would be negligent in any way. When I read the small print on the ADS proposal, I see clearly that they really do not “guarantee” anything. So, I wish others better luck than we had.
Description of Work: They installed a 55’ dual system on the north side of our residence. This includes a French drain in 4” corrugated perforated pipe encased in ¾ “ gravel and filter fabric. Installation of a 4” PVC line discharging 5- 12x12 surface drains.

I was worried about the yard being torn up but they were great. They cut the sod out for the area where the drain was to go and replaced it. After watering for a week you couldn't hardly tell where the work was done. The men doing the work were very nice. Within 4 or 5 days of having the drain installed the area is dry. Thank you for giving me back the part of my yard that had been soaked for over a year.
Description of Work: There is a water issue for many of the homes in our neighborhood. We had water seeping out from under our patio. The builder did a minimum drain and too the water about 5 feet from the patio and the water just sat there. We had an area in our yard that was about 12 by 12 that we couldn't even walk through. I never dried up.Had drainage issues in the back yard. Had French drains installed

This is the third time we have used this company for basement leaks. Previously they had worked on the crack in the walls with resultant leaks with heavy rains. Brad the owner inspected the job and submitted a fair offer. He was also willing to redue previous work they had done five years earlier. We were scheduled out about 2 months and a check for 1/2 the job was written. At about the time of the proposed start of the job, I spoke with Scott who was responsible for scheduling. He stated that he wanted to keep the guys working outside and that he would schedule us for a rainy day. A month passed and no rainy days at least when we were available. Meanwhile, everything had been moved around the basement making room for their work. Finally after speaking with Brad and insisting on a definite date, he came through and the date was set 5 days later. To Scott's credit, he apologized for the delay and stated that he would not be scheduling again for any rainy days for inside jobs. Everyone would be given a specific start date. The job was completed in a little over a day. Excellent work, cleanup and punctuality.

Scott was great about coming out (twice) to consult with me about the scope of the work. He kept me updated a few weeks out from the project, then called a few times before the work started to let me know that we were still on schedule. He would tell me when he was going to call me, then he would actually do it! Wow, how often does that happen? We had a little communication gap the morning he came but in fairness he did try to call me that morning and my phone is programmed to not ring that early. It turned out to be fine and everyone was very polite (with the exception of some grumpiness on my part initially). The two men that were working this job were very polite and conscientious and seemed very knowledgable. They cared about what they were doing and wanted to do it right. They added the new window well at my request once they got on the job and then decided that it needed to be a larger one than the one they brought out and came back the next day to put that in. Having foundation work done is never fun and can be stressful when you have water coming in your basement. These guys made it about as good an experience as it could be. Not a fun way to spend money but at least I felt like I was in good hands. I gave them a B on the price but I'm not sure if it is a good price or not. The reality is that no one wants to spend money on stuff like foundation work and maybe the price rating should have been an "A". I got one other bid and it was a tad lower but the other guy was so abrasive that I decided that I didn't want him in my home. Both companies had a good reputation but If I am going to give someone my hard-earned money, I want it to be to someone nice! I would highly recommend Atlantis Drainage!
Description of Work: Installed a new sump pump. Installed a new sump pump line going out to the middle of the back yard ending in a gravel pit with a pop up. Directed two corner roof drain pipes into the underground trough with the sump pump line to prevent rain water from collecting on the west side of the house and causing water issues in the basement. Epoxy injected a leaking crack in the basement using ports. Installed a new window well to replace rusted one. Changed out another existing underground drain pipe with a different pop up design into a gravel pit drainage system the same as the others.

First day they moved furniture, pulled back carpet and pad, put up plastic to contain as much dust as possible, jackhammered floor. The next day they installed drainage system & sump pump, then poured concrete. Very labor intensive--jackhammered concrete had to be hauled up stairs to a loader in garage and then moved to truck for disposal. New gravel had to be carried downstairs, along with membrane, plastic tubing and concrete. They came back on the following Monday and layed carpet pad & carpet in place and moved furniture back in place. Workers were very polite and efficient.

Contractor did not show up on the commitment date blaming the weather which was fine. However, I could not get them to communicate reliably on when they thought they would show up. That was a little disappointing; but, understandable. The worst thing about it was that they chewed up my sprinklers. They didn't work correctly and I had to have a sprinkler contractor come out and fix them. They would not stay and fix them nor did they tell me up front there would be problems with the sprinklers.

The workmen made two swales, one in the back yard and one in the side yard. They had to remove a side section of the privacy fence to get their equipment into the back yard, but they did replace it. The workers were very nice and worked very diligently trying to finish the job in one day. Unfortunately, it began raining too hard in the afternoon and they had to come back two days later when the ground had dried out some. So far, so good. There is no water in the basement. They also seeded the swales with grass seed. I would definitely recommend this company.
Description of Work: Atlantis Drainage came out right away and gave an estimate for 2 swales which we hope will alleviate the problem of getting water in the basement. The estimate was given the last of August. They said they could not schedule us until the third week of October, but they were able to come on 10-13-2013.

Did not use this company as they were more expensive than others and their proposed solution was not my preferred method. They suggested using "bubble up" at the end of the drain lines to disperse the water. I preferred that we use drywells. When I asked they said they could do that, but it was not the best method. After talking with other companies, I decided to use drywells. They were very responsive and very professional. I would quote them again, but would press them on the price. My main reason for a 'C" vs. and 'B" was pricing.
