Blended red oak flooring from dining room into kitchen. Impossible to tell where new wood was blended into 20 year old dining room floor. Michael was professional in every respect. Finished job on schedule.

Overall a very nice job. Negatives- started a few days late last minute and left quite a few gaps in the wood seams that I needed to putty in( to his defense, we went with a 3 different sized plank floor that was hard to match up and i made no effort to try to get him to come out and fix it. Colored putty is available at most any hardware store and is easy to fill in) pros overall quality for price. Knocked a huge chunk off money of by spending a couple of hours to pull up the old carpet and pergo ourselves. Cleaned up well and stayed on the job until it was finished. Trim work looked sharp. Would definitely recommend.

We love our floors! So many people remark that they look brand new. The place already looks so much better and we are happy that we went with Mike.

He did the work across two days, sanding on the first and putting down a new semi-gloss wood finish on the next. My 13 year-old wood floor now looks brand new.

Michael Owens and his crew were a dream to work with. My daughter had a kitchen fire and when they removed the carpet they discovered old Hardwood flooring. The House was built in the 1960s and the hardwood was covered in paint in places and there was a place in the bedroom where plywood had been inserted and carpet on top. We had several companies come and give bids. Michael was the most responsive. Spending time to tell me about the process. His bid was very reasonable and he was very upfront telling me that when they started the process that sometimes other problems can be found that would entail additional work and material. We were also working with a general contractor who had timing issues as to when the rest of the house would be ready for the flooring people to come in. The date was changed once and Michael was able to accommodate the new date. They told us it would take 5 days maximum and that is what it took. The two person crew that came - were very professional and worked diligently. When they pulled up the plywood in the bedroom they found the subfloor was rotten. Michael came out and gave us the cost for the additional work. I thought that it would be between 700 and 1000 more but he only charged 235. What a blessing. Chris the crew leader removed the subfloor and the insulation below the floor was moldy. He allowed me time to get insulation and replace that before continuing with the subfloor. The work was done and looks great. They were professional, clean and pleasant to work with. I would recommend them to anyone for hardwood refinishing. They were great.

Amazing! I couldn't believe what great results were achieved given the poor condition of the floor. The original oak flooring in my 1938 Tudor had long been covered by various 'improvements'. My husband was able to demo all the layers and we called in the professionals to refinish the black, tar-covered mess underneath. Michael was actually the 4th estimate we received - the first three immediately suggested that we lay brand new flooring on top of the originals - weenies. But after watching every episode of 'Rehab Addict', I was sure the floor was salvageable if we could just find someone willing to take it on...and Michael was our man. He is also a master of color, while he made no promises of being able to match the aged color of the adjacent living/dining room flooring, he nailed it and now we have beautiful, seamless looking hardwoods throughout the main floor. + Responsive to calls/texts. + Finished as scheduled. + Good job taping off work site and managing dust. + Professional.

Mike Owen was very courteous, prompt, cheerful and professional. Mike and Kevin completed the task in less than 3 days and the end result was spectacular. You could not possibly find another company in this line of work that would have done an equivalent job for the fantastic price offered by Mike. I have another house that will need some hardwood flooring work done and Mike Owen at All American Hardwood Floors will the first person I call.

The Jacobean stain we decided on with water popping came out looking great. We weren't certain the floors could be saved but they came out better than expected. We are unable to tell where the new wood versus the old wood is the job was done that seamlessly. We had a lot of work done to the house and in my opinion the floors were are the best part and were done to the highest level. Mike was always nice, truly appreciated the business and you could tell he cared about doing a good job as if it was his own home. Our new hardwood floors are beautiful and flawless! Michael's attention to detail was very evident in the finished work. Michael did a great job lacing the existing hardwood and new, we are unable to tell where the new and old meet. The color and finish is exactly what we requested. Michael was wonderful with his communication and very professional. Showed up on time and kept the work space clean. Michael was very good with giving us updates and completed the project within the time scope he promised.

Great job. I am so pleased with the final results. Work started on date that had been agreed upon and was completed on schedule. His bid was very thorough, so I knew what to expect regarding the details of work he would do and the cost of each item. This included items like the cost of removing and reinstalling closet doors and removing carpet and carpet tack. When I stated that I would do some of that work myself, he had no problem with that. He is a hard worker who takes pride in his work. I am very pleased with my floors!

We remodeled our kitchen and living room into a kitchen and great room. We removed a wall. Carpet was removed and new hardwood floor was installed. It had to be laced into the existing hardwood floor. Michael was very conscientious about the stain color and made sure the color and finish was just what i had imagined for my new kitchen/great room. He performed the work as scheduled. There were no surprises.

Because of the layout of our home we split it up and did the upstairs and downstairs at different times, about a month apart. We had gotten four or five quotes and while Mike's wasn't initially the lowest, he agreed to match the lowest price. One of the reasons we went with him was that his estimate was very detailed, explaining exactly what they would be doing, what was included (ie removing and reinstalling base shoe), and any potential extras he thought might come up throughout the job. We were pleased with how it all turned out. Each round took about four days, which was just what we expected. There is a bit of coming and going due to the nature of the process, but our job was handled promptly. One side note, we do have a medium to large dog and chose the water based finish because it was supposed to be the more durable of the two Mike offered. (As far as I can tell from the internet and our other estimates, it seems to be a matter of option if oil or water based finishes are more durable) Unfortunately just a week or so after the floors were finished, we already started seeing noticeable scratches in the floor from our dog. I knew that with a big dog the floors weren't going to stay perfect forever, but I was a little disappointed to see them get scratched up so soon. I don't know if this is at all avoidable if you have pets, but thought it might be helpful for others to know.

Overall everything went really well. The floors look great and the boards that were replace blend in really nicely. They showed up on time, finished when they said they would and left my house in good condition. There were a few small things to be fixed after they had finished the job. Those things were addressed and fixed promptly. I would, and have already, recommended them to others. For responsiveness I gave them a B as I left a message, waited a week and then left another message before I received a response. I understand they are a small business and don't have someone to answer the phone but a week was too long for a response.

Michael was a joy to work with. He had to come up with a receipe of stain color for the new wood to match the existing 85 yr. old hardwood color. He did such a good job that you can't tell where the old left off and the new started. He hand sanded in between the spindles on the stair railing instead of wanting us to completely remove all the spindles like other bids we received. The stairway is a work of art! It was in such bad condition and now it's beautiful. I wish I had more floors for Michael to work on! His attention to detail is amazing.

Mike knocked it out of the park. His attention to detail is amazing. The new floor was weaved into the existing floor. I can't tell where the old floor left off and the new floor begins. He did an excellent job of matching the wood types and grains. The 10 year old floor looks as good as the brand new floor. He spent extra time masking off other areas of the house as well as hanging plastic sheeting. The dust was kept to a minimum. Clean up was very easy. He put down various stains and let us pick out the one that we liked best. This was great because we were able to see it next to existing cabinets. We could not be happier with the service we received. I will recommend Mike and his team at All American Hardwood Floors to everyone I know.

Terrific job - Mike was on-time and professional; he went to great effort to minimize the sanding dust from spilling throughout my house; I changed stain color from honey brown to rich walnut--it looks like what you see in model homes; I will definitely contact him again if I need a hardwood floor contractor

I was very pleased with him. He did a good job. It's a small company but he did a good job. He was very accommodating for any needs and I appreciated his ability to match the color that I wanted for the stain on the floor. It was a small floor, wasn't really big.

Mike came out and did a free estimate and I liked what I heard from him when he explained how he was going to help us. We knew we needed a repair but we didn't know what else was needed. Some of our other estimates said we had to replace, sand all of the floor down in the entire kitchen and family room, restain, and seal with poly. Mike was the only one who said he could match the stain we already had on there and then just do a simple buff as well as two coats of water based poly to seal it in and make the repairs look seamless with the rest of the floor. He specifically said he saw no need to restain or refinishing anything completely. Because of this his estimate was significantly smaller than all other estimates. Because of this and the numerous positive reviews here on Angie's List, we decided to go with Mike. He communicated very well and worked with us to get into our house when it worked best for us. Because of other kitchen work we were having done, is was hard to plan specific days for him to come over in advance. But some days came open and he had just finished a previous job early so he came over that day and did the repair. The following day he cleaned, buffed, and coated the floors. They look great and the stain match was incredible. The only negative thing about the entire experience is that when I present him with the Angie's List coupon for 10%, he did not honor it. I still think Mike deserved A's accross the board but I do feel it is worth mentioning to any prospective clients. He told me that the coupon was supposed to say 10% off work over $1000 dollars and that Angie's List STILL has not updated it. It was an error ever since they put it up on the site and he has had to deal with it ever since. He seemed sincere and I believed him but I still feel, no matter who's fault it was, it definitely was not mine and the coupon should have been honored. We are only talking about approximately $50 more dollars off of the final bill. Just keep in mind if your estiamate is under $1000 he will probably not accept the angies list coupon. BUT please let me stress he did a great job and was great to work with. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that needs some hardwood work done. Excellent experience.

They did a real good job and I had no problems with them at all. They finished the project. and I found nothing wrong with the way they did the project when they finished it. It looks good and they did what they said they’d do. I think they were real reasonable with price.

Extremely pleased with the results and the experience - this is the second time we have used Mike/American Hardwood Floors and he is the only hardwood guy we would use on any future projects. The finished results are really amazing and improved the look of the entire house as a result. His repairs completely resolved the original damages and the buffing/[polishing makes the floor look almost brand new Mike was easy to work with and he accomodated our schedule well at a great value - what more could one ask for!.

Mike came out & gave us a quote on how much it would cost. He was a little bit more that a couple of the others, but I thought he would give us a higher quality of floor. In the end, he gave us a wonderful floor! The dust was not a problem after the floors were done. Containment kept it where it belonged! The floors were beautiful than I could have imagined. The price that was quoted to us was right on. Wonderful experience overall.

My house has beautiful hardwood floors that had been hidden underneath carpet for many years. Instead of replacing the carpet we wanted to have the floors refinished. The floor under the carpet had many cosmetic issues and we had two areas that needed to be replaced completely (a bay window add on and an area where we had termite damage). Mike came in and promised that he would make it look like brand new and that matching the existing oak floor would be no problem at all. During the refinishing/replacement of the floor my house was protected from excess dust and mess because Mike used plastic to block off the areas that were not being worked on. He even put plastic inside my linen closet so dust wouldn't get all over my towels!! Tape used on the backside of every door in the hallway protected my bedrooms from the dust invasion as well! I was very thankful he thought of those details. We left to go out of town for a couple of days and when we returned the floors were AMAZING! You can't tell where the replacement boards were laid compared to the original wood that was refinished. Our floors look brand new! We intend to have every room in the house done by Mike / All American Hardwood Floors. I wish there was a way to post my before and after pictures (found a way, see below) - you will just have to trust that when I say AMAZING I mean it!!Mike is very passionate about his work and it shows!
