Out of the 4 companies I contacted Matt Vail was the only one to to exactly what he said he would. 2 places never called back & one other company stood me up twice when they were supposed to come out and bid the job. Matt is like clockwork, he calls back when he says he will & arrived 15 minutes early for our appointment at my parent's house to measure the job. My parents were in a rush to get the job done, Matt was said he could complete the job within a time frame that were were happy with. We got an estimate that we felt was reasonable & fair with multiple options on materials & colors. The only reason we did not use Veil to complete the job is that the day after he gave us the estimate a close family friend who is a construction worker lost his job so we gave it to him. If it wasn't for the family connection we would Vail could have had the job. I would highly recommend Vail Contracting to anyone
Description of Work: My parents were putting their house on the market & needed to have new decking, railings & stairs on their new deck. Matt Vail gave us the best service possible while giving a fair price.

The process with Matt at Vail Contracting was seamless from start to finish. I changed the scope of work a couple times and Matt always handled it very well. His price for the entire project was very competitive, even aggressive for the market. I would highly recommend using Vail Contracting. Great service, great product, great price! Unfortunately, Matt's failure to respond to repeated requests has forced me to update my review. Since it has finally rained I have been able to really take a look at the gutters. The rain goes right behind the gutters. Matt told me that it was my fault because I didn't tell him I wanted drip edge on the gutter. I didn't even know drip edge existed. I thought that was the contractors job....to let their customers know what they need. It is so sad but true. You get what you pay for. If you want a cheap job, go with Vail Contracting. If you want a quality job, find another gutter company.
Description of Work: Vail Contracting did a fairly extensive amount of exterior work for me. Matt the owner is very concientious as well as pleasant. The scope of work that Matt did includes roofing, painting, guttering and minor landscaping. One of the primary reasons I hired Matt was because he is a General Contractor which means I didn't have to hire 4 different companies to do the work. Matt brought in the right people to do the work and he managed the whole project with quality personnel for each phase. The first phase of this project entailed cutting a ridge vent into my roof and cutting soffit vents into my soffit every 6 feet. Matt pointed out several places where the soffit was rotted and needed to be replaced. I was very nervous about this particular part of the project because, after all, someone was cutting a hole in my roof. Matt assured me that this was the best route to take to release the heat in my attic and create a better airflow situation. (Now that it's been 100+ degrees for many days in a row, I'm even more pleased that I had Matt put in the ridge vent). The soffit vents look great and are working with the ridge vent to create the desired airflow. The next phase of the project was to take down all of the gutters and replace any facia board that appeared rotten. This was done in a timely manner with expert craftmanship. Matt then brought in his painter who did a tremendous job; Tim was very meticulous. The paint job did take a day or two longer than anticipated but the results were well worth it. I went with a darker color and that probably added some time to the completion date. The most striking aspect of the paint job was the excellent quality of paint. Matt used a Sherwin Williams Exterior Paint that makes the wood look like it was treated with some type of thick exterior coating. The paint was so thick it actually filled in some of the blemishes on the wood and our house looks absolutely lovely. I really believe it will be 8-10 years before I will have to think about painting again. I can't say enough good things about this phase. Once the paint was done the seamless gutters and leaf guards were ready to go up. Since Matt's crew already had the facia boards prepped the gutters went up in one day and without a hitch. It rained lightly the evening they finished so I was able to check their work. The gutters were leak free except for one spot at the end of a run. I called Matt the next day and he was out that afternoon to fix the spot that was leaking. I really appreciated how responsive Matt was throughout the whole process. On the side of my house Matt did do a minor bit of landscaping. He used his Bobcat to level out a couple of large mounds of gravel I had delivered several weeks earlier. He also spent some time with me identifying options for a retaining wall which I did not have built but will definitely have Vail Contracting complete once I have the money.

Honestly, I would not have a yard that you would want to look at without Matt. When I first started it was just a muddy jungle out there. I couldn't afford to fix it all at once, and he has been wonderful about doing a little bit at a time. The most recent job, described above, took a large area that has 4 big trees in it (I was tired of mowing around all the trees!) and put a raised bed around it. It's a big shady area great for ferns and hosta! While he was here, he noticed a dead tree and took it out, and trimmed many lower branches that I had to mow around (thanks to him, I do finally have grass to mow!) One of my neighbors came over to check out the work when it was done and she went on and on about how pretty my back yard is. It is all thanks to Turf Management Solutions. The one thing about this most recent job that was above and beyond in my opinion was a loose piece of siding that has been a problem for several years. I live in Jefferson County, and the wind really blows on that side of the house. We'd done everything to get this piece nailed down, but when a wind storm came up, it always got loose again. Matt found a piece of siding that was a close match (you can't tell the difference!) and installed it and it hasn't come loose since. A recent wind storm blew my neighbor's facia almost to the peak of her roof, but that piece of siding stayed put.
Description of Work: Matt has done several jobs (mostly small) in my yard. In this particular instance, he trimmed the low branches off of my trees, removed a dead tree, put a large raised flower bed in with pavers, and fixed a loose piece of siding that has been plaging me for years.

I told Matt that I had set $3,000 aside for this project and he came in under budget--even though he broke the axle on his dump truck and seeded and strawed my sizable back yard (not in the original budget, but I didn't need as much top soil brought in as we had thought). He put in a brick retaining wall/raised flower bed almost the length of the back of my house and cleared out many loads of brush and junk, and brought in a load of top soil. From original phone call to job completion, it took a week.
Description of Work: Matt is slowly whipping my yard into shape...I can't afford to get it all done at once, and he has been great about doing small jobs along the way. I called to get an estimate on "phase 2" of my back yard--clearing out the trees, brush and construction junk from the rest of the subdivision (one of the bad points of being one of the last lots to be built on) in my back yard, and putting in a narrow raised flower bed/retaining wall. It fit in nicely with his schedule and was all done a week later.

Matt was very prompt about returning my initial phone call, came out to look my yard over when he said he would, planned to start one day, but called a day ahead to change dates. He and his employee got the job done quickly, cleaned up after themselves. I was dreading having the work done, but I was VERY happy with their work. Plan to use them again for future projects!
Description of Work: I had a jungle in my back yard, with many downed trees from ice storm this past winter (and from prior years as well). Matt came in and cleaned it all up for me, cut up trees, hauled some away, left some for firewood. My yard is looking so much better now!
