I contacted Ken from McMen Services when the contractor I initially had used disappeared with some of my money and leaving some shoddy work. Naively I consulted Craigslist for a new contractor to just help with drywall work. Needless to say, I encountered many unsavory characters before I luckily stumbled on Ken. He called me back promptly, showed up, and did solid work. What started out as a simple request for a specific task evolved into him helping me finish an entire kitchen renovation. I stuck with Ken for the following reasons; 1. Extremely Consistent. When he agreed to take on a specific task, he would research it to make sure he was up on the details, showed up on time every time, and the quality of work was top-notch. 2. Principled. Ken could absolutely be trusted alone in my home when I wasn't there. This was essential, because due to the scope of the renovation, my wife, newborn and I moved into the in-laws temporarily. He was also extremely respectful and honest. No payment was accepted until each grouping of projects was completed and we went over the receipts. The pay was at a calculated rate that was communicated prior to starting the project, plus materials. Often times Ken would go to the hardware store to pick up the needed supplies on his own time, and I would have to insist on him taking money to account for that time and gas money. 3. Skilled. All the work was completed as I had hoped and expected it to be. If you have done a major renovation you know that this is not to be taken for granted. As previously stated, if he didn't feel 100% on a specific task, he would go home and on his own time research the project prior to committing. Overall, I feel that the kitchen project was only completed due to Ken's dedication to delivering the highest level of workmanship and service. I can't say enough nice things about him, and as such cannot recommend him enough! Thank you Ken! --Chris M.
