They charge a lot. I would prefer being able to pick and choose what kind of TV services we actually use as part of our bundles and packages. Recently they sent us a letter saying that because the sporting channels are going up in price, they have to increase the cost of services that we receive. We don't even use those sporting channels. I wish they allow us to get rid of them and they can keep that extra fee.

Dish is good. It is $44.99.

Dos: Installed antenna at ground level; without any drilling into our house

I had always been a Direct TV customer and really wanted to stay with them but was not able to get a clear satellite signal with them when I recently moved. I tried the local cable television but did not like the service I was getting on the phone and did not figure it would get any better later so I switched to Dish Network. The service good, it is real close as what I had with Direct TV. There are some little things that I would prefer to have Direct TV but it is not a big deal. The price is a little bit lower than what I paid with Direct TV. I think I will stick with this company unless things change as far as what is available. With the issue of getting signal where I am because I have such huge trees the loss of signal has been minimal when storms have came through in my area. I have had fewer interruptions with storms with Dish Network. I may loose 10 or 20 seconds of something I am recording or watching.

When they installed our service, they were okay. We had problems in the past, and they have not been that compliant. They want to charge you to look at your television.

I called them because I had no picture. At first, they advised that it was probably the bad weather and to call later when it dissipated. 4 hours later, I phoned again when the situation had not improved. The operator then had me bothering with wires and plugs for some time. When this, still, did not resolve the issue, they advised that I needed a service call. However, they said they could not provide one until they spoke to the account holder which is my mother. Needless to say, this frustrated me, and I cancelled the service. It was more frustrating than you could believe.

I wanted to upgrade my satellite service to meet the standards of a new television. I thought I was upgrading to an HD/DVR receiver. However, in the confusion of four representatives and two different directions as to what I'm to do, an HD receiver was ordered (I did not realize this until after I signed off on the order). But even after the receiver was installed, I did not have HD service. Two more representatives later the HD works. Finally, I realize I do not have an HD/DVR receiver. In the end--eight representatives, two supervisors and one executive office employee later--I'm told there is nothing they can do. While the executive office employee said he would take this higher, he offered no promises. The sad thing, I offered to pay the difference in equipment fee and even pay a technician to change receivers. Compromise is not an option at DishNetwork. The best part of the experience was the installation technician called in advance and arrived a little earlier than scheduled.

We had a minor problem with the guy they sent to install the system. He didn't want to put the dish where we wanted him to put it so it would be out of the way. That was resolved. We love the network so far and did switch from direct TV.
