Advanced Pools withdrew funds from our financial institution without our permission or knowledge three to four weeks prior to performing services for us. On the date of the services, Advanced pools showed up two to three hours late. Advance pools immediately began declaring additional increases in the previous estimate they had given to us over the phone for closing our pool, even though our pool is less than 12,000 gals (a patio pool). We immediately stated we were not in agreement to pay the additional unforeseen increases. At that time the owner stated we would pay it or he woulld pull off the job. I again stated I was not willing to pay an additional two to three hundred dollars on top of the $375.00 he had provided in his estimate. He then instructed his guy to start gathering up their equipment and began leaving my property with the pool half empty, equipment, skimmers and parts laying all over the place. We ended up having to call another company in that could not close the pool on that day but did hurry out to put our pool back together in order to prevent leaves and debris from the trees (we're in the middle of fall) from getting into our pool plumbing system and ruining it. As the Advanced Pool people were leaving, the owner turned and smiled and said "Have a good day". We have made numerous attempts at contacting Advanced pools requesting a refund of our money paid for services that were not rendered. So far we have made over 9 attempts and no one will answer our calls, emails or any other means to resolve this situation. Advance pools is completely ignoring our attempts to contact them. I might also add that the owner was instructed two to three times not to dump the saltwater on our drive as it could possibly run off into the lawn and cause damage. He did so in spite of the owner's request and allowed approx 4 to 5 thousand gallons of saltwater to run onto our lawn, down the street and across onto the neighbor's lawn in front of us. They were also informed that there were two 10 in drain tiles attached to each of the drains in the bottom of the deep end of the pool that would allow the water level to drop drastically and also prevent the water from coming in contact with the lawn. Damages unknown at this time. I have filed with the BBB and will be contacting an attorney to file for our money along with damages sustained and additional cost incurred as a result of this company's unethical behavior. Advance pools had total disregard for the shape that they left our pool in...knowing they were the ones that disassembled the equipment, leaving us in potential damage of pool failure and damage as a result of salt being dumped onto our lawn. Stay away from Advanced Pools. They are unprofessional and extremely pronounced on unethical business practices.

I am very disappointed in my recent service visit from Advanced Pool & Spa Service. They provided terrible service. First, they didn't make an appointment, didn't call ahead to let me know they were on the way, and didn't even ring the doorbell when they arrived. I was home the whole day but the only reason I knew they were on my property is because I heard my dog barking in the backyard and then looked out the back window and saw two strange men (not in uniforms) messing with my pool pump. I walked outside and they didn't introduce themselves. I had to ask who they were and why they were by my pool. The first guy, Scott, was on the phone with someone else and was extremely rude to me the entire time. The second guy, Kenny, just walked around holding a bag of tools and didn't say a word. Scott claimed my pool pump needed a new gasket because it was leaking and noisy and I told him there was nothing wrong at all with my pool pump - it worked fine - and the reason I called for service is because my spa pump wasn't working. Essentially, Scott had been looking at the wrong equipment and tried to sell something I didn't need. Scott claimed his notes mentioned a request for the pool pump, but if he would have called first to set up an appointment or confirm the details of the service request, then he would have learned the real problem. Once I directed him to the spa on the other side of my backyard, Scott didn't even diagnose or fix the spa problem. Instead, he kept asking me multiple times if I have spa coverage through my home warranty company (which I do have spa coverage) and seemed lazy like he didn't want to do the work. Scott then claimed there was no access to the spa even though there is plenty of room underneath the deck to access the spa on all four sides. I told him that other companies have been out to service the spa in the past and they never had a problem accessing it, and then Scott screamed at me "But we don't do that!" He didn't even try to fix the problem and simply said it wouldn't be covered under the home warranty. He stayed less than 10 minutes. He didn't even bother to put the cover back on the top of the spa before he left. I was then charged $75 for the 10 minutes they were here even though they didn't fix anything. I can't believe my home warranty company (American Home Shield) would use this company. I would not recommend this company to anyone and would not want them working anywhere near my pool or spa. I'm not surprised this company has such bad reviews all over the internet. Stay away. I want a refund of my $75 service charge.

I wasn't even here. They looked at the spa. They gave me an estimate. They said I can get a fix a leak stuff, and all of this was done over the phone. The price is pretty typical, what you would expect to pay at any other company.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my spa. They gave me an estimate to repair it, and suggested I get fix a leak, or leak stop. Something like that. Its a product you can get anywhere.

I was not able to meet them when they were at home. They charged the 75$ deductible, they left the property without leaving a message, INVOICE or just a phone call. Some days later I was able to reach them on the phone after several voice mails and they told me that there was not problem. The jet 1 is not functioning yet. They were very rude on the phone. I am the customer and they treated me as a liar. I called back to Home Warranty and they have told me that I am allowed to select my own Hot Tub company since Advance Pool & Spa don't want to come back. I am astonished. I never met them, they did not do their job and they want me to feel guilty. I will never recommend this company. It's weird that they do not show their address on the website. Maybe they do not want anyone to find them. Do not choose them.
Description of Work: I reported a claim to Home Warranty and they sent me this company. They were supposed to fix the Jet 1 since it's not working.

I found Scott and Advanced Pool and Spa via my HSA home warranty. He was personable and charismatic. But I think he is inept. I had the same problem arise again and again (a leak in my pool) and it was a constant struggle to get it fixed. His final semi-permanent solution was to put a stopper in the pipe that had the leak. Now while I didn't want to dig up the deck to have the pipe repaired that way, I would have at least liked it if he could have provided a more permanent alternative. Furthermore, I paid Scott $5000 to refinish the inside of my pool. When he told me I only had two color options, I should have been wary. But like a schmuck, I went ahead and used him anyway. The paint job was sloppy, they left tape all over the tile, and the actually managed to cover the holes that the main drain screws into. So now my main drain just floats on the bottom. Scott's solution for that was to say he could glue it down...for $200. Nothing he did was criminal...but it was lazy, sloppy, work. My pump still doesn't work after he "repaired" it. I had nothing but problems with Scott but kept using him because he is so personable on the phone. But be forewarned, this is not a good provider. *UPDATE* The new pool company I hired pointed out to me where the skimmer motor had been bypassed. It worked fine at the end of the season when I closed (APS did the closing), Troy Chaney, my new pool guy (who is amazing) pointed out that whomever had broken it left the pieces on the ground and then just bypassed the line. Now I have no proof that APS broke the skimmer pipe, but I am confident that were I still using them, they would be more than happy to sell me any number of parts and pieces to repair it.

This company is run by one person. Scott. He was recommended by our realtor and we liked him at first. Until his overcharges became more obvious. He charged us $225 for plugs to put in our skimmer holes. He said, "I only charged you for parts." I wish I had asked for receipts. This man is not trust worthy. I also did not like his disregard for my need for personal space. He would stand within 6 inches of me while talking. I would step back and he would move in closer. I am a person who has a small personal space radius with friends. I am also a woman who is home alone often. I just do not think he is very professional. Every time he came to visit, it was thousands of dollars in repairs. Do NOT trust this man.
Description of Work: He was closing our pool. Then giving an estimate on getting the water from under the liner.

Description of Work: Came out to my house and tightened a split nut which I supplied (went to R & S Pool Supply to get the part) . I couldn't get the spa to quit leaking after we (the owners) put on the new part. So I called Maytag and they referred me to Advanced Pool & Spa. Called them and left a message. It took them days and repeated phone calls and messages left on a confusing answering machine to return my call and set up a service date. When the guy came out he charged me $95.00 to simply tighten the split nut which he didn't have to supply. After he left we filled the spa per his instructions and then it only ran a few minutes and then shut down with a reading of OH in the control panel. I called him repeatedly once again and finally he called back and said it meant that one of the two motors had burned out and would need replacement. The price for the motor is $525.00 and we have already replaced both between 2 and 3 years ago. With the same guy. Also he said the motor couldn't be repaired, only replaced. My spa is a 10 yr. old Jacuzzi and he said these kind of spas weren't built very well. The last motor he replaced was in 2007 and the other one (there are two) in 2006. Also we had just ordered a new spa cover online and it was already on the way, bought and paid for. So then he tried to sell me a 5 yr. old spa which he said he had replaced the motor in last year so he Knew it wouldn't break down. So the motor in the used spa he tried to sell me lasted 4 yrs. as apposed to mine in which the motors lasted about 3 years. And he was selling it without a warranty for $2500.00. Also, it was smaller than our spa and we had just ordered the new cover for our spa. I hesitate to call back because he doesn't call back for days and I don't know wether to believe him when he says these motors can't be rebuilt, only replaced. So now I joined Angie's List to see if I can find someone better or even to check out his answer about not being able to repair the motor. Also, why do I want to buy a 5 yr. old spa with no warranty. He was supposed to send pics of the new spa that evening but he never did, Now I don't know wether to call him back or not. I called two other companies from your list and one is just a plumbing co. and they don't even work on spas anymore. And the other one, the Jacuzzi showroom has a phone number which has been disconnected.

I moved into a house with a pool over Labor Day weekend and needed to have it closed for the winter. I was unfamiliar with the equipment and called to ask if they would close it but also teach me how to do it for next time. They were fantastic, showed up the same day and explained everything, checked out the condition of my pool to forewarn me of any problems for next spring, offered to replace a broken part during the winter when the cost would be less. Made sure I knew where all parts needed to re-open in spring were placed. They worked extremely fast. They were in and out in about an hour. Friendly, fast, and they even called a half hour before they arrived to let me know they were on their way. It was so fast and such a great price that even though I learned to close it myself, I will be calling them to reopen in the spring.
