Sapps accepted no responsibility for their leaving the carpet and stated they are baffled that there is no peril that caused this mold break out. We have no insurance coverage since their is no peril and will be cleaning it up at our own expense. Just be careful when you need a remediation company and make sure you hire an independent certified hygenist like nicks home inspections to make sure the remediation company does their job properly. This has hopefully been a learning experience for all and maybe sapps home pro will adhere to the standards in the future.
Description of Work: We had a category 3 sewer back up in our home and they just cleaned the carpet because it was only clean water that came out of the Toilets. Nevermind the standard is to remove the pad and carpet. 3 years later we now have mold in that carpet and when we contacted sapps home pro they said the carpet should have came out but we didnt have the money in our insurance budget to cover that. If they had told us the carpet could get moldy and contain bacteria we would have taken it out ourselves. I just feel as if they didn't advise us properly because of a lack of funds and that to me is not looking out for the customer. I feel as if once the insurance funds had been depleted they were done. Shame on us tho because we got money for new carpet but from the advice they gave us that they cleaned it with anti microbial it was ok to keep. I'm allergic to the mold and have several medical bills and have been really ill due to this so is my 6 yr old.

Response from Sapp's Homepro Inc
I would just like to clarify that Mr. [Member Name Removed] was told that the carpet was considered unsanitary and, according to the standard, could not be properly cleaned. They were in the middle of a remodel and Mr. [Member Name Removed] told us they were getting new carpets anyway. So we offered to clean the carpet with an antimicrobial just so they could keep it on the concrete floor TEMPORARILY until they replaced it. Since Mr. [Member Name Removed] himself was doing all the remodeling and was more than capable of removing the carpet, he said that would be great and they would remove it themselves. We did not charge Mr. [Member Name Removed] to clean the carpets with an antimicrobial--we did this as a favor and kindness since he really wanted to replace the carpets in a few weeks. The sewer backup was an insurance claim and the insurance company wrote a check directly to Mr. & Mrs. [Member Name Removed] and compensated THEM for removing the carpet and replacing the carpet. Please keep in mind that any restoration company can only suggest what actions are to be performed. Ultimately, it is up to the customer to authorize and pay for such work, regardless what the standard is. So if SAPP's HomePro, Inc. did not get paid to remove the carpet, how could they be liable for not removing the carpet? To illustrate: Suppose your doctor told you that you needed surgery to remove a malignate tumor but you opt to just take medicine. Although medicine wil help, ultimately you need surgery. Now 3 years later, you are mad at the doctor for not performing the surgery on you, but if you didn't allow him to perform the surgery, how can he be blamed? This was the customer's choice to keep the carpet until the remodel was finished. However, the [Member Name Removed]'s decided to keep the carpet for 3 years. Probably, by the time they finished the remodel, they had spent the money that they were given to replace that carpet and, since the carpet looked and smelled clean, they just didn't worry about it. I completely understand if that happened. But that's no excuse to blame us for something they agreed to do. This situation is the exact reason why restoration professionals like SAPP's HomePro makes it clear that we can only be responsible if WE do the entire project, start to finish. When the customer decides to do some or most of the work themselves, we cannot be responsible as we no longer have control over the job.

It is a family owned business that is very knowledgeable. They were prompt, courteous, answered all questions and done a good job at a what we felt was a reasonable price. What more could you ask.

I thought the price was a little high for the work performed. When I called I gave the measurements and was given one price but when they showed up to do the work they measured and said it was more. I wish they would have come out and gave an estimate prior to coming out to perform the service because I needed the work done by Thanksgiving and once I found out it was going to be more it was too late to get someone else.
Description of Work: They cleaned the carpet in the family room and bedroom downstairs as well as the step going downstairs.

I used them twice in the past year for problems, and they were very responsive. They were very caring about fixing the problem; they stayed with the problem until it was fixed. I would recommend them to all family and friends. I contacted them about two years ago, and I would not call in anybody else. They do carpets, drapes, upholstery and fire, smoke and water restoration. I would rate them highly.
