Description of Work: We were out of town and needed to have our lawn mowed and trimmed.

Description of Work: Earth Effects has handled my routine lawn service for a few years now. This includes mowing my front and back yards and adding treatments such as fertilizer, herbicide, and insecticide. I have also hired them to handle special projects for me -- planting trees and installing two butterfly gardens in my back yard. In the winter, I have contacted them on occasion to assist with snow removal.

Description of Work: He aerated my lawn to my satisfaction. He came the day I wanted him to come when the lawn was not so wet.

Description of Work: This past summer and fall of 2012, Earth Effects did yard work, landscaping, sprinkler system, and even concrete and electrical work. The designs and products were top-notch. Cleanup was meticulous. The summer was so hot this year (multiple 100 degree Fahrenheit days) that it would have been a waste of time and money to do some of our landscaping projects, so Dan waited until the weather was more amenable. Concrete was poured in order to extend our patio for a hot tub. Holes for piers to support the concrete slab were dug, aand the concrete was reinforced. I have complete confidence that the new concrete will hold up (no cracks) to our new hot tub. Dan designed the landscaping for us, based on what we told him we wanted. The trees, bushes and plants are better than we imagined -- even on paper! A garden was dug for us, and accented with stones that compliment our house and other landscaping. A berm was built and trees planted, in order to give us more privacy in our hot tub. Rock and mulch was put down. Dirt was used were some erosion had begun around our foundation. Of course, new sod was laid were needed. Out other trees and bushes were trimmed to perfection. Dan (the owner) has an electrician on his crew, and did the electrical work for connecting our hot tub. Earth Effects also did the in-ground wiring for the accents lights, in addition to the solar lighting, which was installed on our deck and stairs. Don brought us samples for the lighting, which were all lights that we could have been happy using. We did pick the lights we liked best, and we are very pleased with them. We were also pleased that Dan used the cost effective lights for the in-ground wiring. Those lights were also wired to a photocell. We can also program the lights to only stay on for a pre-determined amount of time. Dan was very helpful in choosing the most cost effect and easy to use systems. Dan also wired our soffit lights -- and the lighting (by the front door) for our eagle statue -- onto a nifty wall switch. The digital switch can be used manually. It also can figure the times for sunrise and sunset, based on the time of the year. It also automatically adjusts for daylight savings time. This is a great way to turn our accent lighting on and off. Again, the lighting is inexpensive to use. Of course, we like the digital switch which even looks high-tech. Dan's crew was exceptional. The people were energetic and hard working. They were also very careful about protecting our yard, moving things out of the way, and even being considerate to our neighbors. They were such good people, that we gave them a gratuity for good service. Another landscaping company we were using recommended Earth Effects to us, because the other company did not work on sprinkler systems. While we were very happy with the other company, there were several things they could not do for us, so we hired Earth Effects. It became too confusing (my fault -- not anyone else's) to remember who was doing what work. While we were reluctant to quit using the other company, Earth Effects was able to do everything themselves. They also did everything well. Earth Effects also hangs Christmas lights on homes and trees. We expect to use them this holiday season, so expect another report.

Replacing dead/tired/overgrown shrubs with low maintenance shrubs and bushes, mulched, back fill with dirt, did over all clean up of all beds, around foundation, mowed, and reset a paver's tile walk way to keep erosion from happening. He also removed some very large tree limbs that were hazardous to our house.
