PierMagic Foundation Specialists

Price was fair but they seemed incapable of providing me with the proper contract and were no-shows at a follow-up appointment I had arranged directly with their estimator. After calling, texting and emailing over the course of many weeks I gave up. A company shouldn't make it hard to spend money with them. Updated: My initial interaction with PierMagic was not as positive as I would have liked, however I give credit to the company for reaching out immediately upon learning of my frustrations and doing more than enough to try and win my business back. They were responsive to my requests and accommodating of my timeline. I did use them for a portion of my overall project and was pleased with the results.

Work was completed as explained. Work crew was knowledgeable and worked fastidiously.

Work was accomplished but messy due to rain several times during the time the workers were here. Completed cleanup was left to homeowner to accomplish.

Honest assessment. John came by....walked thru the house.....walked outside assessing cracks...etc. At the completion of the assessment he was an honest businessman. He told as that "at this time" we don't need piers or braces. He then spent ample time telling my husband what to watch for that would indicate the foundation shifting He gave us his card & contact number to. call if anything changes.

Working with PierMagic is refreshing. I had a number of companies out to bid the project and most offered only temporary solutions. PierMagic is the only company that was able to identify the root cause of the problem and offer a permanent solution. They were incredibly professional and responsive at every stage of the process; from the bidding (competiive pricing), to the scheduling (booked me the next week), and the work being completed (thorough, fast, and able to problem solve on the spot). When I had questions, I recieved straight answers and they returned my emails or phone calls in a timely manner.

They did a good job and completed it in only two days. There where a few thing that came up during the job and they addressed them quickly and effectively. In the end, the cost was higher than expected, but the results have been effective and satisfactory.

The crew showed up on time and finished the job when they said they would. Worked very hard even though it was close to 100 degrees on those days. my only issue was lack of follow up by the sales person. I expected someone to come out and inspect what the crew was doing.

They were prompt and courteous. They were great about walking us through what they had planned as well as giving us multiple quotes for different plans we could use. They had us inspect their work thoroughly during and after the process was finished. Our foundation had been crumbling and was even more expensive to tear out and replace, so these guys saved us a lot of money by being able to install the support and stability beams in our basement/crawlspace.

Ruined the outside when they said they only needed 3 ft of space. Took out the fences when in our bid they said they would dig under them. Absolutely no clean up, outside, when they finished with the foundation.

The repair service person arrived and examined the cracks. he said that he would have to check with his office to determined if there would indeed be a charge for repair of the extra cracks. he could not do the repair because "the material is so expensive" and he would have to explain to his manager why he used extra material. he quoted me a price of at least $1000. the original estimate was for $775. we told him that we did not want his company to do the work. from my point of view this was a bait and switch tactic.

He was very honest and told me that it would be cheaper to get a landscape person and a masonry person to help mw

Everyone was very nice, friendly and helpful. John inspected and estimated the job. Roger brought his crew out on a Thursday and they worked all day long. The job involved more work than was planned and the crew worked to get it done. It also rained on day 2 but they stuck it out. It took 2 1/2 days and these guys gave it their all. They are hard workers. Dug up my flower and RR ties and laid to the side. Covered the grass with cardboard to keep the dirt from getting all over. Did the work cheerfully and when done, put the ground back to where it was prior to the start of the job. We couldn't even tell they'd done anything it looked so good. Roger was careful to keep us informed of every step and explained what we should expect to occur. These guys did a great job, worked hard, and took pride in their work. We highly recommend this company and if ever needed will call on them again. We had 3 companies give us estimates. This company was the lowest bid. The other companies refused to lift our house but this company took on the job and did it well. We're very happy with the job results!

As they described it. They repair is still dry. However there were 2 minor places where the wall meets the floor that have a little seepage. Their representative said they would take care of it as a service repair as soon as it dried. Still seeping.

Great!! PierMagic was the last of 4 foundation companies that came to my house and gave estimates. The appraisal of the problem, the number of piers to fix the problem and the cost was similar from all 4 companies. The difference was that PierMagic suggested that they could dig a tunnel under the attached large screened porch to install a necessary pier. The others all said that the crawl space under the porch was to low to get in and install a pier so instead, part of the decking on the porch floor would have to be removed as well as screening underneath and a wood beam cut and then reattached --all by another contractor. The only other option these companies gave me was to not put a pier under the porch and hope it worked! Thank goodness PierMagic was willining to do some extra work to dig the tunnel. It cost an extra $300 but much cheaper than having another contractor tear up and then reassemble the porch. And, it worked great!

We had a very good experience with them. They said that the wing wall needed an extra pier, which they hadn't estimated, but they were still less than the other people who had given us estimates.

After receiving the initial estimate we decided to have a structural engineer come out to offer his recommendations. After we received the engineer's report and recommendation I emailed it to Patrick. He said he would revise his original estimate and email it back. For whatever reason, we did not receive the revised estimate and did not hear from him again. After the holidays were over we decided to move forward with the work. I called Patrick and left a message. He didn't call back so I went looking for alternatives. I found King Piers which was highly recommended by another site. They got my business and start work in mid-March. I have to say, this experience has been a miss on Angie's List and with this company.

It started out well. Very professional up front with their business office staff. I made the initial appointment several weeks in advance. They sent an email confirmation and called 30 minutes ahead of time to let me know they were on their way. Mike and Patrick introduced themselves, measured, and offered to talk to my engineer. They did not leave me with a bid. The engineer had suggested I have a 10' hole dug to check for water. PierMagic called me with a $2000.00 bid for this work but offered to apply it to any piering work they did. $2000.00 was way overpriced. I received another bid for $500.00. At their initial visit, Mike had suggested I work with Patrick in the future. I contacted Patrick and left him a voice mail message to call my mobile phone. Instead, he called my home phone. This meant we had to play phone tag. I called him back and asked him for a bid on my house on a specific day, several weeks out. He said he was too busy and would see if Mike could meet with me (didn't Mike say to work with Patrick?). Patrick said he would call back in 10 minutes and I never heard from him again. Frustrated, I called Mike, and he said I was on his calendar for the next day. I told Mike that was news to me as I never heard back from anyone. So I met with Mike and he measured, again (they lost the first measurements), and gave me a bid for 6 interior and 18 exterior piers. He also said that the office girls said they called and talked to me when they scheduled the appointment. I was offended as I never spoke with anyone, and isn't the customer always right? Mike was pleasant and professional, but I got the impression that there were many more charges to come that he was not identifying. He made several innuendos about this and that. For example, pulling back the carpet and drilling holes in the foundation to see how much space was under there to see if it needed to be filled. In the end, I had too many negative experiences and doubts to spend that kind of money to have work done on my house so I went with another company.

Other than being six hours late, the work was done professionally and expediently. They apologized for being so late. They had to complete a tough job before mine and wanted to make sure it was complete to their standards. The crew was very nice and did not leave a mess. The house is now far more solid than before.

The crew was on time and had the job complete in two days. The foreman invited me to watch anytime I liked. When they had the piers implemented and began to lift the house, he personally showed me exactly what they were doing while they were doing it. The garage did not lift exactly as they hoped, but he explained why. I would use this company again.

We received several estimates. Pier magic gave the best presentation and the prices were very competitive. Bruce was great with the bid and communication before the job started. Bryan, the project manager, has an excellent crew with Alejandro in the lead. Everyone was very courteous and very professional. We would absolutely use them again and recommend them to everyone.

They were prompt. They were on time. They cleaned up well after themselves. They provided us a good idea of what was going to happen and what it was going to look like when they were done.

Here's what I should have done: get an opinion from a structural engineer (which I did) and show the report to a bunch of foundation repair companies upfront (sometimes I showed it after they analyzed the situation and once I misplaced it and didn't show it at all). I also should have made appointments with the repair companies all at once, but I stretched it out and my house eventually got worse (it takes a few weeks to get an appointment). I gave the report ahead of time to the last company and the salesman pretty much agreed with the engineer (surprise!) and that's who I hired. Part of the reason I used PierMagic was because of the combination of interior and exterior piers they suggested, which saved a good portion of my landscaping, and avoided the need to tear down part of a decorative exterior brick wall which one other company said they probably would have to do. PierMagic also said they would haul any extra dirt from digging the interior holes in the basement floor and place it around my foundation to keep the rainwater sloping away from the house, and that they would slap some concrete on the cracks in my basement wall and floor, since they would be mixing concrete to patch up the pier holes. About five or six men showed up every day for five days. They were all polite and hard workers. I had a stairway into my basement from the garage, which was handy, and they also removed a basement window to haul pieces of the concrete floor and dirt out. It was a major operation. They put up big pieces of plastic as dust curtains, which helped, but by the end of the week, my floors were dustier than usual. They lifted the house in sections--that's something I wished I had asked the structural engineer about, because some companies do it all at once. One wall needed a little lift, and the other wall needed more. I had a large crack in the main floor foyer that closed up some, but not completely. I also had some cracks in the exterior brick which closed up vertically, but not horizontally and I'll have to hire someone to do tuckpointing. I had two major cracks in the basement floor and they drilled out the concrete around those and put new concrete in after the piers were in--that's something that wouldn't have happened if I had used all exterior piers. There also was a good amount of dirt they hauled up and spread around my bushes, which was a much appreciated extra service. My only complaint is that a couple of the concrete patches on the basement floor were a little rough, and some hunks of concrete got into the drain hole near my furnace/humidifier, which I didn't notice until the job was over. I called the head worker several times with no response, but after I called the salesman back, somebody came right out and ran a snake down the hole and fixed it.

Excavated the front yard to put anchors to move a bowed wall back into place. Then installed a sump pump for drainage.

They did a great work. The front corner of the house is is raised 4 1/2 inches. They started the last week of January. They were very professional, they did everything they could to protect my landscape and my property from damage. They dug down below that and there's 28 holes around my house to make the foundations in every hole. So fact that there's clay and stuff left behind, they couldn't help. They put down boards all away around the house, all the way out into the grass and they piled the dirt on the board when they were excavating so it wasn't in the grass. They filled the holes back in, of course there's dirt left over because the holes don't have to settle so they're moving the dirt to where I wanted them to move it because there was some understanding that those holes were gonna sink down and we're gonna have to have them fill back in some more with that leftover dirt. They put down boards to protect my landscaping, they moved several plants out of the way so they weren't damaged during the excavation process. They did a good job protecting my basic landscaping property. They picked up after themselves. They did an extra hole because they didn't realize something was where it was and they still stood by their original quote. I have recommended them to several friends.
