Response from Larry L. Vaught Roofing Inc
I'll fill in the blanks that this Angie's List Member failed to mention, so you can more fairly decide for yourself whether or not anyone deserves an "F". We received a phone call from this Angie's List member on October 25, 2018 requesting we diagnose the cause of his roof leak and provide a written estimate to fix leakage (all at no charge). We explained that we need to see inside in order to most accurately assess the cause of leakage and would do so by appointment. This Angie's List Member was given the choice of an 8:00 am to noon appointment or a noon to 4 pm appointment, with a courtesy call 30 minutes in advance of our intended arrival. He chose the 8 am to noon time slot on October 31, 2018. On the morning of this Member's appointment [i.e. October 31st] we called to notify the Angie's List Member that we would be arriving within 30 minutes. However, we received no answer. Regardless, we drove to the Angie's List Member's address and knocked at the front door. When no one answered the door, our service technician called once again and left message that we had attempted to meet at the scheduled date and time, but we were unable to reach them. We concluded the message by stating that we would call them later in effort to re-schedule the appointment. Our service technician then moved on to their next appointment. On November 2, 2018 our service department called this Angie's List Member and left a voicemail asking them to call us if they would like to reschedule an appointment with us. On November 5th, this Angie's List Member returned our call to complain that our service person arrived too early. He acknowledged that he was home, but chose not to answer the phone or the front door at that "un-godly" hour. He added that he lives in an 8 million dollar home and isn't about to let just anyone in his home. We once again offered an 8:00 am to noon appointment or a noon to 4 pm appointment, with a courtesy call 30 minutes ahead of arrival. He replied that he has already heard from another contractor who took pictures of his roof and windows, and expressed that he was probably going to go ahead and hire them to perform the work. So, our service department politely and professionally expressed regret for the misunderstanding and wished him success with his project. The circumstances involving this Angie's List Member as outlined above are 100% accurate. I'll let you decide if and who deserves an "F". P.S. Thank you so much to the overwhelming majority of good kind folks we have the pleasure of meeting during our 51+ years in business. Sincerely, Kevin L. Vaught President, Larry L. Vaught Roofing
