Metro Wide Movers

Such a great experience with Metro Wide Movers. As a Veteran myself, I wanted to give them a try since they are Veteran Owned and a locally owned business. Kelli was fantastic and very professional putting together my quote and explaining the Fixed or Hourly Rate options. I wend with the Fixed Price move simply because I wanted to know exactly what I was going to be paying. The crew was on time and very professional. Adam, Price and Cody were absolutely the best movers I have ever had, and I have moved 5x in the last 15 years. I would absolutely refer these guys to everyone needing a local move in Kansas City.

Terribly. I had to make three more trips between Kansas City and Springfield because "that was not on the list". These guys may be good for local moves but I wouldn't trust them with long-distance moves.

It was fine. They did a good job, on time and charged me for what they said. Everything went well and the pricing was comparable than the others I check.

There were multiple problems with our move. As part of our move I paid Metro Wide Movers to move a refrigerator from the basement of our new home to the kitchen on the first floor. The movers said they did not know how to remove the refrigerator doors and therefore would have to leave the refrigerator in the basement. Metro Wide Movers would not send other movers who could do the job and I had to pay another moving company $175.00 to move the refrigerator. When I informed MWM about the cost incurred to pay another moving company to move the refrigerator, I was offered $20.00. Metro Wide Movers is not a reliable company and I do not recommend this company.

Good, but they broke a couple of items

The entire experience with Metro Wide was great. They showed up and quickly prepared and moved an entire two story house full of furniture. The biggest issue with most movers is damage. However, we did not have a single scratch on any piece of furniture or on any walls of either house. Also, the price was much lower than other estimates we got. I don’t plan on moving again anytime soon, but if I do, I would absolutely hire them again.

Move went great, the movers arrived on time, were friendly, and appeared to take great care that our belongings were not damaged. Loved that the price was a firm price vs other companies that were by the hour. Scheduling was quick and easy.

The move went as expected and we were very satisfied with the work that was completed.

MWM waited at our house for over 2 hrs while we dealt with circumstances outside of our control. They were efficient and professional. Moved everything out of our house and into our new house in 3 hrs. Thank you for being the bright spot in a really frustrating day! We'll recommend you to our friends and family should they ever need help!

Our move team worked hard for an entire day. I was so impressed by their positive attitudes and exceptional care with my furniture.

What a great team! From the office to the guys doin the heavy lifting!! I was very lucky to have experienced this company. Communication skills excellent. Kept me informed of moving date, called me the morning of moving day, and the driver called me just before arriving to storage just as I had requested. Right on time, and was completed on a timely manner as quoted. Great attitudes from office and the guys moving me.I will call upon them again when needed, and I recommend anyone who is wanting excellent customer service and proper care of your household goods to call upon them! Upon their advice, without ever seeing my home, I rented a 15' and 17' trucks for my move. The trucks were going to be stored since my closings were 4 days apart, with the new home the last move. They sent out 2 men to load my household, but only allowed them 3 hours. This was obviously not enough time and I had to contract more men the next day to get the job done. After packing the two trucks, it was evident I needed another truck for my belongings, another oversight on their part. They didn't have any crews available, so I had to contract with another company to pack the 3rd truck. All this cost me much more than originally planned, because Metro wasn't professional enough to know what the job would entail. When I finally got my belongings off the trucks they had packed, many things were broken, bent and boxes torn and mashed. They claimed no responsibility since I had packed the boxes! After talking with them they offered no refund or satisfaction to me. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!

They did a great Job. The crew worked fast and hard, took a short break every hour which is totally understandable. Very competitive price, nothing was damaged or broken. They did everything we asked. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone

They were punctual and very fast. They literally would sprint up the stairs. It was one of those 95 degree days so they were definitely working hard and they didn't slow down. I really wanted to keep the costs down so I stated 3 hours was what I was really hoping for, and if we didn't have time for small stuff, no big deal, I would get it later. They thought they could get it all done in 3 hours, big and small. They didn't cover any of the doors or handrails to protect from mishaps in handling furniture / TV / boxes even though they said they would when they first arrived. Luckily, no mishaps, but still left susceptible, especially in my new home which just had all kinds of upgrades. They were moving fast at the expense of being careful as I ended up filing 2 claims, one for a baker's rack, and another for a black cedar chest. Accidents can happen, but the black cedar chest had several notches in it and it appears a plastic container was dropped on it. Buying black furniture is probably not a wise choice of color, but even I know not to place or drop anything on it so that it will scratch and this was more than mere stratches. Both claims were processed and paid to me fairly quickly. Then they called in the move and I was charged for 3 hours and 15 minutes even though I was specifically told Metro Wide would not charge in 15 minute increments. I got it at the 3 hour rate, but then the movers were looking at me like I did a good job playing hardball when in reality, the people of Metro Wide aren't consistent with their policy. I really was told from the beginning not to worry about the 4th hour unless it was over 3:30. If you have any nice, new furniture that you spend money on, I would not trust this company or would get a higher level of insurance. I think these guys had 3 moves to do that day (what they said to me on their way out), and they were apparently just trying to get it all in.

Although the crew worked quickly, several procedures we were told would be done were not followed by the crew. We were told all furniture would be carefully wrapped/covered and doorways would be protected so not to be scratched. This was not done and we had damage to both front doors in our old and new home. Our coffee table was scratched beyond repair. Our grill was broken and and our antique hutch was damaged when they came too fast through the tight opening of the front door. As they were moving our upright piano, it tipped precariously and if my brother in law had not been there to grab hold of it, it would have smashed to the ground. We also did not like the crew themselves mention several times that they were paid low wages and relied on tips to make a living wage. When I brought all this to the attention of the supervisor who I made the initial contact and appointment with, he was rude. He pretty well dismissed my complaints but said he would send me a packet of papers to fill out to file a claim. I waited a week and still did not get the packet. I called and emailed several times and was told once again that I would receive the paperwork but this time by email. Once again.... no paperwork. I went back and forth multiple times until I just gave up dealing with it. I would not recommend this company and will never use them again.

These guys are great. I had heard about them from a friend at work. I got online and filled out a form of what I needed moved and they called within 24 hours to firm up the details and send me a quote. They gave me a flat rate quote and told me no matter how much time the move took, it would still cost the same. If I was unhappy with that quote, they offered to also give me an hourly rate quote. I was happy with the flat rate quote as it had come in less than the 2 other companies that I contacted. They stayed in touch with me in the 2 weeks until my move and were very responsive and happy to help when I called with questions. Right before my move, I found out that my apartment was going to be shutting down the parking lot by my building mid morning to restrip the lot. I called the moving company and explained the situation to them and they said and quot;no problemand quot;. They scheduled me as the first move and they were there at 8am sharp. I did a walk thru with them and showed them what all needed to go. Then they got to work and let me tell you, these guys hussled from beginning to end. They had to get my stuff out with an awkward U turn and up a flight of steps and they did it all in just over 2-1/2 hours. They were extremely polite and very respectful of all my belongings. We were out of the parking lot without holding up the complex's work crew at all. Then when we got to my new house, they still hussled every minute of the time. They unloaded and reset up everything in just about 1-1/2 hours. I had nothing damaged at either place. As I stated, they were very respectful of every thing they moved. Jesse and Matt were great and I would highly recommend them to anyone I knew that needed movers. If I ever need movers again, they will be my first call.

My husband and I have extensive experience moving. We've moved multiple times in the past several years. We are familiar with several area moving companies and know exactly what is needed, how many movers are required, and approximately how long it takes to move our things. When we bought our new house our moving date was scheduled very quickly and we didn't have much time to schedule movers in advance. We only had two weeks to schedule movers. I was worried because the moving companies that we love and have used in the past were all booked and couldn't fit us into their full schedules (a sign of how great and popular they are). Desperate, I began searching for a moving company that could schedule us on such short notice. Metro Wide was the only company that was available to move us on the date/time we needed. I didn't have any other options so we used them. I first requested a 3 man crew, but they told me I would only need 2, even though I knew we had several pieces that would need 3 men and the move would go much faster with 3. The movers that showed up and seemed inexperienced and young. We did a walk through of what needed to be moved and where everything would go. We had everything clearly labeled, professionally packed, and color coded. It took them almost three hours to load what took past mover only 1 1/2 hours. They struggled with the large pieces and didn't seem to have any sense of urgency with getting the move done in an efficient manner. When we arrived at the new house (only 5 minutes from our old house), they started complaining about all the stairs, how difficult it was to move our large pieces up and down the stairs, and that our furniture was and quot;a b****and quot; to move. All of our boxes were put in the wrong rooms even though they were clearly labeled, making unpacking a nightmare. Our and quot;fragileand quot; boxes were stacked below heavy boxes, even though they had and quot;fragile glassand quot; labels on them, causing several things to break. And we had severe wall damage in our hallways from the crew being so careless with our larger furniture. Theses weren't just small scratches, but huge holes and long lines of scraped paint, some longer than 12 inches long. One of the movers made light of the damage saying and quot; don't worry we have a wall repairman that will come out next week and fix itand quot;. The wall repairman never called or came to fix the damage. We allowed 2 weeks and had to contact the company to see when we could expect the damages to be repaired. They told us they weren't aware of the damage. They just acted as if I was being a nuance. They only thing they did do was email me a claim form that I have to complete and send back to them in certified mail. We've received no follow up and their lack of customer service is very disappointing. Needless to say, I will never use this company again and I wouldn't recommend them. I will stick with the movers I've used in the past that are much more professional and experienced.

Great. Friendly, fast and cheap.

Metro sent a 4 man crew and they worked very hard to ensure our move went well. They came in below their estimate and were very pleasant to work with. If I move again I will call them.

It went great. The movers arrived early. I had paid to have the move on a fixed rate and they were literally running and hustling the entire. They did a walk through and confirmed all the things to be moved. I couldn't believe the size of the boxes they were able to move on their own. They were fast, courteous, nice and friendly. I have already recommended them to other folks. I was very pleased.

Since Metro Wide is a well-known company we went with them for our move across town. They were punctual and rates were reasonable, but we did have a few problems with them. They somehow got their truck stuck in our neighbor's driveway and had to be rescued, and they nicked up some of our furniture and woodwork during the move. We called ahead to see if they were comfortable moving our piano along with the furniture, but when they arrived the movers seemed to have no clue as how to move the instrument. They also didn't load the truck in such a way that the weight was distributed well and placement efficient, which made unloading much more challenging. Overall, I would say we will be looking for another company next time we move.

The move went well - however at the end of the day their were several items we could not locate - newly purchased coffee pot, newly purchased wastebasket and a small safe (nothing inside). Our daughter questioned the movers at the time but they stated they were some place in the midst of all the other items. The next day our daughter called the company and told them of the situation. Several days later the company contacted her and stated they had dismissed two of the three movers that had been involved in her move. The company reimbursed her for the value of the missing items. The next week I realized the camera I had taken with me to take pics of our grandsons moving from the old house to the new house was missing. The camera has never been located. I feel this item was also taken at the time of the move. Recently our daughter went to her jewelry armoire where she keeps pieces of jewelry that she only wears on special occasions - these items were located in a bottom drawer of the armoire - all the items in that drawer were missing. She had not been in that drawer since the move. She attempted to contact MetroWide Movers - they would not return her calls - she filed a police report with the Kansas City Police Dept - finally she connected with MetroWide Movers and they have been very uncooperative - she has asked repeatedly for the name of their bonding company and to date she has not received that information. What is interesting when the movers were getting ready to move the armoire they made a big production out of wrapping it in cellophane in front of us - as if to say - see how trustworthy we are. Our daughter has filed a complaint with BBB and I am making this report on Angie's List on her behalf and also that I was involved with the move and present at the time this all took place.

It was a great experience, a fair price and I would definitely recommend them.

Metro Wide Movers moved all of my furniture that was too heavy or awkward for me to move. 3 Guys showed up 15 min early(a good thing) and started working right away. They didn't damage anything even the heaviest items we own(Dresser, China Hutch, etc). They clocked out for their break that they took on the way to the new house and told me they were doing it so there weren't any questions about it. They did a tremendous job and even moved some extra heavy stuff that was already at the house down to the basement which required them to take outside and around the house to get it in the basement. Chris was very responsive to getting me scheduled for the date I wanted and answered every question I had. Thank You Metro Wide Movers for making my move EASY!
