+ -1 moreContractor never returned to start work she know i needed to have done. She came by after i left a half dozen messages & wrote down what work was to be done. She said she was busy with other jobs but would get back to me when she could. That was on 11-11-14 today's date is 6-11-15. Have not heard a word! Will not hire this contractor.

+ -1 moreI attended Ms. Linton's classes previously and I was very impressed with her knowledge and classroom skills. I managed to retain Handy People business card and recently made contacted Ms. Linton. I explained to Ms. Linton that I had a stopper that malfunctioned in my bathroom sink as well as several outdoor motion light bulbs that needed to be replaced. Ms. Linton seemed very enthusiastic about project. She stated that she would be able to come to my home on Monday, April 27th to repair/replace the items I mentioned. I called earlier on the appointment day to confirm the visit. I was not able to speak to Ms. Linton directly, but I left a detailed voicemail message and requested a call back. Needless to say, Ms. Linton did not show up for the appointment. Furthermore, she did not have the decency to return my phone call. Apparently, doing business with me was not up to her standards. Actually it is her loss because I had planned to utilized her services for my other projects. I MOST DEFINITELY WILL NOT use this company ever again!!!!!!
Description of Work: Small repairs: replace stopper kit in bathroom sink. Change several outdoor motion detector light bulbs (a story and one half in height).

+ 1 moreI am very happy with the job that Jean did. I had a drywall that was cut open to fix some plumbing issues. The nice thing that I like about Jean is that she picks up the phone or return my calls latter. Very hard to find to have someone pick up phone or return calls these days ! I am also happy that Jean is very punctual and she pays so much attention to detail. She had to come multiple times for the drywall, due to the nature of that project. In spite of that Jean is very patient and makes sure that I am satisfied with the work. I will definitely hire her again.

+ -1 moreJean came the same day I called (big plus because it's been raining a lot!). She took the unit out and put it back in correctly, explaining as she went. Just as she was finishing up, a huge downpour started and...no leaking...YAY! It rained again last night and...all is well. She was kind, friendly and, most of all...she knew what she was doing!
Description of Work: We put in a window a/c unit and clearly did it wrong because water was coming into the house through the unit!

Description of Work: Jeanne is a Handy "person". I hesitated to write this because a good "Handyperson" is invaluable, but she needs to be recognized for her good work and professionalism. Jeanne teaches electrical and plumbing repairs at the local community college and that's where I met her. She agreed to take a look at some of the small electrical repairs/installations I needed at our property in St. Louis City. Jeanne removed 2 old porch lamps and installed 2 new dusk to dawn lights. She also brought one up to code as it had been poorly installed originally. She rewired lighting in the basement and hall to make it more accessible. she also added a switch box in the stairwell to allow for access to lighting at the stairwell leading to the basement. She also spent time explaining what she was doing so that I could make minor repairs myself in the future. I would definitely use her company again. She was prompt, the price was fair and she taught me along the way.

The Handy People offers the following services: Small jobs are such as fix/replace light fixtures, including just changing the bulbs if needed, replace switches or outlets, change out your faucet and/or shut-off, replace the vanity sink and/or cabinet, repair or replace toilet. Medium jobs are more in the realm of remodeling bathrooms and kitchens, from tearing out everything: floors, walls, etc. to putting back all new, including designing and shopping with the customer. We also do most flooring except carpeting.
We do not do: roofing, heating/cooling, repair appliances (do put in new ones), new construction (add-ons), carpet installation. Otherwise most everything else is possible.
