MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ROOFING

I had a lot of problems with roof leaking in different spots. They put a new roof on our property as soon as possible after all the rain we had. Brent, Hank and Sean that I spoke with were all pleasant and understood the problems I had. They were very quick in putting on a new roof, helping me select the color and again getting things done in a timely manner as to keep my tenants happy. The roof looks great and I am very pleased.

I am a real estate agent and my buyers have hired this company several times to do roof inspections prior to a home purchase. Though regular building inspectors can check the roof, it is important to get a good roofer to come out when the roof is too high or steep to be accessed by a regular ladder/equipment. They always give me a thorough report that you can trust. Recently I had them inspect a roof on a 3 story home. They had installed the roof a few years earlier. I didn't tell them that they had put on the roof because I didn't want them to soft sell any problems. Though most of the time they are critical of work done by other roofers and find numerous problems, they found only a few minor things on the roof that they had installed (and they didn't know that they were the installer until I told them after the inspection). Since they were the installer, they agreed to take care of the things since they had put on the roof.

When the person doing the estimate arrived, his ladder turned out to be too short to perform a proper assessment (!). We received an estimate nonetheless, but felt that the repair analysis was not based on an actual examination of the roof. Subsequently, somebody from the company called asking about our response to the estimate. I explained. They wanted a second chance. I declined.

The roof MVR put on leaked immediately with damage to our bedroom wall.We called MVR who "repaired" the leak and we had the wall fixed. It leaked again.We called MVR and were told it was the chimney tuckpointing.Called a tuckpointer who told us it was the roof flashing.Called MVR with this info but they insisted it was the tuckpointing.Got the roof tuckpointed.Still leaked.Called MVR who blamed it on not waterproofing the tuckpointing.Called the tuckpointer who got in our attic and proved it was the flashing. Called MVR and they said it was"condensation".Told them we were repairing our wall and they said they'd pay.Roof leaked.They didn't pay.Got a lawyer.MVR agreed to pay independent roofer to look at roof. Independent roofer found leak and fixed leak.MVR refused to pay for damages or other roofer.Finally, MVR "agreed" on settlement of $2,500.MVR NEVER PAID.I took them to small claims court.I won $2,500 for damages to my house. THIS ALL TOOK FOUR YEARS!!! CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!!!!

The issue I have is when they gave me the estimate they said they would fix the roof, and they did, also to inspect the roof and make repairs as they were needed, but I feel they did not spend enough time on this. They said it would take 2 men one full day, however they delivered 2 men for only 3 hours for the inspection and repair of the roof. The owner was a bit hostile towards us as well. I wish I would have gotten more estimates before making my decision to work with this company. I have a unique roof and the owner acted as if his company was the only company in the area that would be able to work on it and I found this not to be true after the fact.

The bid was way too high. When I called them, he did come right out and said the estimate would be ready in a couple days. It took a little over a week to get it and I would have preferred for them to be honest about not wanting to do the job instead of raising the price so high that they knew I would not use them. The man that came was very cordial and polite, but I would not use them again due to the high price and the fact that they were not too honest with me.

The company repaired loose slate at the peak of the roof.

Very quick to respond. They are also very quick to follow up in writing with the work they completed with a recommendation if necessary. Very friendly and helpful. They are honoring their guarantee on all the repairs.

Three days later, I called and no one had been out to the house yet. Three days after that, I called and was told that someone had been out to the house, but the report wouldn't be done until the next morning. The next morning arrived, still nothing. One day later, I recieved an estimate for a new roof. I called to ask about the roof certification I'd ordered and was told that the roof was shot and Mississippi felt bad about charging me for a certification since it took so long to get back to me. I explained that I needed the certification for my counter offer and was told that Mississippi would have to send ANOTHER person out to look at the roof because the first set of pictures were "bad." AND, they would have to charge me the $150.00. Well, I was out of time, per the contract I had pending on the house, I had exactly one day to finish inspections. Luckily, I was able to get someone else to look at the roof that day, the roof was fine, it has 8-10 years of life left.

They man came out for us to pick the color and the roofers were here the next day and did the work in one day.

Mississippi Valley Roofing replaced our whole roof about 11 or 12 years ago, including two smaller roofs over first floor rooms. Recently we've noticed a leak in the kitchen ceiling, and another contractor mentioned that portion of the roof was "soft" underfoot. The roofing company sent someone out to examine the roof and then sent two people to remove the shingles and repair the leak. They weren't very professional, didn't have the correct shingles, and generally did a poor job. When they went to lunch, my husband took pictures of the work they had done so far. The next rainfall the ceiling leaked into the kitchen again! We sent them the pictures, and they agreed the job had been done improperly and repaired it correctly. The supervisor or owner monitored the repairmen and made sure the job was done correctly.

Job went very smooth considering they had to stop to buy the new boards and the air vents. All done in less than a day.

I'm so appreciative of their quick response to our emergency situation; without them, we would have had a lot of interior damage due to leaking.

They were very cooperative and polite. When I wanted to speak to anyone, I was able to speak to the owner. I didn't have to wait long. They did the job and got out. They notified me when they were finished. I was impressed with their work.

I called for an estimate and they came the next day. The bid was received in the mail 2 days later. I accepted and mailed the bid to them and was contacted the day the bid was received. An appointment was set up and they arrived as promised. Work was done in a timely fashion and they were very professional. They cleaned up all debris. Very happy with the work that was done and have already recommended them to several co-workers, who also contracted them.

FIRST RATE. They were courteous on the phone, quick to get us an estimate with all the proper terms in it and prompt to respond once we faxed them the contract. Thereafter, they were prompt in delivering the materials, quick in doing the work (1 day) and cleaned up very well. They missed picking up ONLY ONE tiny piece of material. You could barely tell, they were there afterwards. The whole process, from the time we called them for the first time, to their finishing our new roof, was around 2 weeks. Very pleased. Would recommend highly.

Everyone was very pleasant and the did a great work.

We sought five estimates from different companies, and Miss. Valley offered the best deal. The work was well done, and there were no cleanup issues. Our only complaint was that the shingles were delivered on a Monday, without any notice, and then the work wasn't performed, until a week later. I called the company several times to find out when they were coming, but had trouble getting a clear answer. The company never once called, to say when they were going to do the job. Ultimately, we were satisfied with the job, but we didn't appreciate the guessing game, as to this company's schedule.

Came out the same day I called and didn't expect payment on the spot. I was given a rough estimate over the phone, and they billed me.

A few months after work was performed, a home inspection detected nail holes in the roof from satellite re-installation. I called the company that came out and patched the holes. They did not charge for the service. I appreciated the follow up

THEY CAME IMMEDIATELY TO DO ESTIMATE AND IT WAS REASONABLE. THEY CAME AGAIN TO LOOK AT TILES TO ORDER MATCHING REPLACEMENT TILES. NEXT THING I KNEW, I GOT A BILL. THEY HAD DONE THE WORK IN ONE DAY AND HAD CLEANED UP SO WELL, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THEY HAD BEEN THERE AND COMPLETED THE WORK UNTIL I GOT THE BILL! I WOULD SUGGEST TO THE COMPANY THAT THEY LEAVE A NOTE ON THE DOOR TO ADVISE THEY WERE THERE AND WORK WAS DONE OR CALL TO LET HOMEOWNER KNOW WHEN THEY ARE COMING. THAT IS ONLY REASON I GAVE THEM A B IN PROFESSIONALISM. VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE AND PROMPTNESS. I WILL USE THEM YEARLY FOR ROOF MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP.

INITIALLY WE WERE VERY PLEASED. HOWEVER, A LEAK OCCURRED AFTER THE JOB COMPLETION. LEAK STAINS APPEARED ON OUR CEILING IN TWO DIFFERENT ROOMS. HOWEVER, THEY WERE VERY PROMPT TO RESPOND TO PURPORTEDLY FIX THE PROBLEM, A REPORTED PROBLEM AT THE FLASHING. HOWEVER, A SECOND RAINSTORM REVEALED THAT THE LEAK STILL HAD NOT BEEN FIXED. TO THEIR CREDIT, THEY AGAIN RESPONDED PROMPTLY AND THIS TIME THEY FIXED THE LEAK. ALTHOUGH THE LEAKING WAS A PROBLEM,ONCE THEY FINALLY GOT IT FIXED WE WERE PLEASED. IN AUGUST, '05, JUST 5 YEARS AFTER THE INSTALLATION, A COUPLE MORE LEAKS APPEARED. WE WERE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WHEN WE CALLED THEM. A WORKMAN CAME OUT THE VERY NEXT DAY, LEAVING A NOTE EXPLAINING THAT HE HAD RE-SEALED AROUND THE SKYLIGHTS. TO OUR PLEASANT SURPRISE, TWO SUBSEQUENT RAINSTORMS CONFIRMED THAT THE LEAKS WERE FIXED! IN CONCLUSION, THEIR PROMPT PROFESSIONAL RESPONSE TO FIX THE PROBLEMS LEFT US HAPPY. WE CAN RECOMMEND THEM.

THE B IN PROFESSIONALISM IS BECAUSE I AM STILL FINDING PARTS OF OLD SHINGLES IN MY YARD. OTHER THAN THAT, EVERYTHING WENT WELL

CREW WAS ON TIME, DID A GOOD JOB, CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES.

THEY WERE COURTEOUS, EFFICIENT AND A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH. THEY CAME OUT AND GAVE A TIMELY QUOTE THAT WAS REASONABLE (COMPARED TO 3-4 OTHER BIDS). THEY COMPLETED THE ROOF IN LESS THAN A DAY, AND EVEN REMOUNTED AND RE-ALIGNED MY SATELLITE DISHES ACCURATELY. GREAT JOB! WOULD DEFINITELY USE AGAIN.
