Curt is a con artist at best and a complete psycho at worst. We had Mississippi Valley do work in 2010 based on the "neighborhood discount" since Curt, the owner's sister lives down the street. A crew showed up in January to do this work, and sometime in the middle of the project, Curt showed up on our doorstep indicating that we needed to pay the remainder of the costs directly to his contractor, but don't make it out to the name Curt calls him - make it out to the name on this Mexican dude's license. Fine - we did. After the work was completed, we noticed that there were pieces that were coming loose and pulling out of the seams. Overall shoddy work. We called Curt who promised that he would come by to fix it. Nobody ever showed, despite 2 calls. We let it go. Flash forward to Feb 2012 when we had a large piece of fascia come loose from the front of the house after a thunderstorm. It was smacking against the windows. I was worried it would rip off and hurt someone, as it's basically a huge piece of shrap metal. Curt did not call me back despite a couple messages. It did come off and smack into my front door at 2 am and landed in our neighbor's yard. I finally got a hold of Curt who told me that it was storm damage (sight unseen) and that it would be $150 to repair. We had a lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials. When I reminded Curt of this, he said it was storm damage and not covered. We argued abotu this for a while, and I told Curt that I know my contractual rights, as an attorney, and would take him to small claims court if he refused to honor the contract. He completely freaked out, yelling and cussing at me about how he's going thru a divorce and doesn't need this sh*t. He called my husband the next day, again saying that he wouldn't do the repairs unless we paid $150. He also yelled at my husband about me. After a long conversation in which my husband told Curt to take a look at the man he has become and evaluate how he is treating people and lashing out, Curt called me to apologize and tell me that he doesn't want to be the man he has become and wants to make a life change. I'm dead serious. Then, we gave Curt 4 months to do the repairs. During the 4 months, Curt would make appointments, stand us up, and have an excuse like this guy broke his leg or that guy's truck broke down... on and on. He had an employee come by to "evaluate." His right hand man said that probably what happened was that since the work was done in January, the workers were in a hurry and skipped steps. Finally, after 4 months, when I was VERY pregnant with my twins and tired of Curt's excuses, we had another company complete an estimate on what the small repair would cost. The company informed us that the entire job was done incorrectly with a nail gun, not screws and that the entire job needed to be ripped out and replaced. We wanted an unbiased report on the job, so we hired an independent home inspector to look at the job. He came to the same conclusion that the entire job was bad, and that when we went to sell our home, it would have to be torn out. We ended up paying $8,000 to have the entire job torn out and replaced. During this time, we filed a small claims court case against Curt. He dodged service for a while. When he was finally served, he drove to my house, and as I was getting out of the car from my baby shower, Curt started yelling at me in my yard. He said he was going to sue me for defamation. At that point, I hadn't written a single review. We showed in court, and the inspector who we hired came with us. He came free of cost because he said he felt bad that we got ripped off. He testified that Curt didn't conform to industry standards and that it was shoddy work. After court, Curt yelled at us in the parking lot. We were awarded a $3000 verdict. I gave birth the day after court. Curt then appealed the judgement. It was upheld, and he has never paid it. We tried garnishing his bank account, but Curt switches banks often to avoid paying the MULTIPLE garnishments against him and his company. AVOID this company and its shady owner.
