ITS Computers

A neighbor of mine had her computer serviced here, and although they never really did resolve her problem, I thought I would see how much they would charge to fix or replace the keyboard on my laptop. After all, this is a simple hardware problem, and her issue was a somewhat complex software one. I took it in on a Saturday and told the gentleman who greeted me what the problem was (a non-functioning Shift key). He proceeded to probe around the key with a wire twist-tie (like the ones that close a bag of bread) before pronouncing that, since the key was depressing completely and he could not feel any obstruction, then I must need a new keyboard. He never once even turned on the computer to see for himself what it was doing. I asked him what a new keyboard would cost, and he could not look it up for me. So another gentleman came over and did a lookup on the part. He quoted me a price just over $100.00, parts and labor, which I thought was a little high. I told them I would think about it, then I did a little research and found a much more professional company that did the work for about half what ITS quoted. Overall, I was not impressed with the appearance, demeanor or professionalism of either of the two gentleman I had contact with at ITS. They did not inspire confidence in me, and the price quoted was very high.
