Andy's Home & Business Repair LLC were very good and very impressive. They were outstanding.

There was an issue involving a misunderstanding on what they had included in the initial quote. He neglected to fill a low point in my driveway as well. He honored the estimate, but the city made him pay more for a piece of the sidewalk.

When I set out to do this project I did a lot of research and received bids from several contractors. I researched all of the contractors that gave bids before coming out and I am sure any of them would have done a satisfactory job. I chose Andy for a few reasons: 1) His bid was lower than all but one; 2) He asked several questions to make sure he was providing a bid for what I really wanted (a few contractors seemed to have an idea what they wanted to do, rather than what I wanted); 3) He seemed to really care about the work he did -- more than just a job to earn an income; and 4) He seemed to be someone I felt comfortable working with. We went through the process of making the plans and signing the contract, and just before they were to start the job my wife and I decided we wanted to make a little change to the plan. Andy worked with us fine with our change, and the price ended up going a little bit from our agreement (it involved extra materials and labor) he kept the costs in line to keep that increase to a minimum. Andy arrived to start the project promptly when he stated he would be there, along with two workers. They got busy right away with the prep work. I should state I work from home, and my office has a window looking out to the back yard, so I observed them working much of the week and a half they were there. Some of the things I observed in their work: 1) After the first day, I did not see Andy much, which surprised me and at first honestly annoyed me a little -- I thought he was going to be more "hands-on" -- but soon I realized that the other two workers seemed to be personally invested in the work -- taking personal pride in doing a quality job. 2) I noticed a couple arguments regarding the work -- at first this may sound like a negative, but I really see it as a positive -- these arguments involved competing ideas of the best way to get something done so that it would end up being the best for me, the customer. From my own business experience and from boards I have been on, I know that such discussions can lead to better results, and that when people shut down and don't voice their opinions in such matters, it means that they no longer feel personally invested and won't give you the work desired -- so this was fine. 3) The workers were professional and polite. They asked me for clarification when they needed it. They were responsive to my questions and concerns. The final result was good. The project looks great. I can't wait to get my new patio furniture, landscape around the area, and stain the deck (so the new and the old all match, as well as protect the investment). The biggest issue with the new stairs is they almost look too nice compared to the rest of the old deck. I must mention the one issue I had with the job. The new cedar posts had some cracks affecting the appearance somewhat. I was really concerned at first and did a lot of research, including going to lumber yards to compare what was available. After several hours of research, I did come to the realization that A) the posts he got me were as good as any to be found, B) these types of cracks in cedar posts are normal, due to the wood being cut green then drying out, and C) they do not affect the structural integrity of the wood. So it is fine, but it would have been good to have been made aware of this. At the end, Andy gave me tips on best maintaining the deck and patio. Overall, I was pleased with the appearance, quality, and value of the work.

The provider bid the wrong item to be done and turned a $200 - $300 job into almost $2,000. When I advised that the wrong thing was quoted I was told I was the one that was wrong. I was treated as an idiot. I know the difference between 65 feet and 12 feet. I was not pleased with the treatment I received and will not be contacting this provider again.

Terri, Andy, and Jason were the best team of folks to do business with. They were all so accommodating, extremely professional, and did all that they said they would. The total cost of doing all items on my to do list was reasonable and well worth it because you do get what you pay for. I was very satisfied with the end results. Terri takes care of scheduling the appointment, handling the finances, etc. Very pleasant and responsive person. Andy comes over to visit and evaluates and documents all what needs to be done. He then gets back to you within a week, providing a detailed itemized document of the materials required to do the job, the cost of those materials and the cost of the labor. You know exactly what the repairs and materials will cost before they schedule the job. You have the choice to purchase your own materials. Jason did all the labor and I was very very satisfied with his quality workmanship and knowledge. He is a hard worker and got everything on my to do list completed within two days. Took two days because of the big job that was required for removing old caulk and installing the new, in addiiton to adding trim that enhanced the garage door frame. Both Andy and Jason are professional craftsmen and have the skills and knowledge to repair and install anything (e.g. electrical, plumbing, etc.). If and when I need any work done on my house, I will definitely contact Andy's Home and Business Repair to do the job. I will also not hesititate to refer them to family members, friends and neighbors.

Andy was very punctual and friendly when he came by to look at my garage trim. I received an email with an estimate for the work. All the work was completed and I am very satisfied.

The work went smoothly, Andy and his helper did a great job, they cleaned up after leaving the areas they worked. the window was replaced about three weeks later than the other jobs due to special type of glass installation , Andy had to have the window special order and did a fantastic job with the installation .I am very pleased with the finished job and will be calling on Andy for future jobs.

Went very well. Liked how provider cleaned up after himself. Many providers just leave the mess for the customer.

We could not be more pleased. Jason was at our house for a week. He usually arrived around 10 am (which is good for me) and left between 4:30 and 5:00 pm depending on a good stopping point -- not necessarily what the clock said. Each day when he left, he picked up and cleaned up. We are so happy with everything that's been done and I'd like to point out some of the major items. First the baseboards. This was the major item. They look beautiful. The cuts/joins and caulking are all very neat, paint coverage is good and uniform. There was not a speck of paint splatter anywhere when Jason was done. He moved the furniture and put it back and with no rub marks or scratches on our wood floors. Second, installing the lights. Andy suggested a different type of lighting than I had envisioned. So glad I took his advice. Jason installed them with a minimum of mess, avoided having to cut up the drywall and touched up flawlessly. You could never tell they weren't always there. I left the stairway light selection up to Jason and Andy and it is perfect for what we need. They also fixed an existing problem with the wiring that we didn't even know existed. Third, window blinds. Jason installed the blinds that had been pre-cut to fit the windows except that they weren't cut correctly. After he measured and gave me the correct widths and were trimmed, they went in like a charm and look great. Fourth, painting the deck furniture. The furniture is 20+ years old, has been painted numerous times plus it sits out in the open year round. So there were paint chips to remove and it needed to be cleaned before repainting. It looks great. The coverage is uniform -- no drips, bare spots or fingerprints. All the other items were equally well done. This has been one of the best experiences with a contractor we've ever had. I would recommend their work to anyone and will be calling them back for my next job.

My experience with Andy's Home Repair went perfectly from the initial contact to the end of the job. His wife Terri takes care of the business end of things and she is awesome! Andy arrived on time and completed my 'fix' list in the stated time including the clean up. I already have another project lined up with Andy and have referred him to my friends. The customer service I received was top notch and I, being a single woman who can not fix anything, have FINALLY found someone who can take care of my home repairs and can trust to do an excellent job at a reasonable price!

He was punctual and professional. I was going to use another light/fan that someone had given me. He explained that they forgot to give me the part to connect it to the ceiling. He suggested that he start work on the door knobs/locks if I wanted to go purchase another light. I did just that and ended up staying a little longer & put my new light up. It looks great. He helped me figure out what could be recycled or not. Very nice.

When I first called to set up the appointment, the woman I spoke to was very pleasant, and I thought he was, as well. I had 1 room to paint, and it wasn’t a large room, and I think it could have been completed within 2 hours. When I told him the work that I wanted done, he at no time told me that it would take him longer than the 2 hours. I think he kind of stretched it out. My appointment was at 10, and he stopped painting with about half of the work done about 1145 before my time was up because he said he had a 12 o’clock appointment and had to go. He then told me that he could send over a couple of additional guys and charge me for a couple more hours at $59 an hour to complete the job. My question was if you knew you had the 12 o’clock appointment why didn’t you bring someone with you in the first place? I had done all the prep work as asked, no primer was needed, so this should have been able to have been completed during the time I paid for. I decided to not pay the extra charges and finished the work myself because I couldn’t afford the additional charges.

He was wonderful. I was stuck in the middle of the domestic situation here and he was great. I have recommended him to my neighbours.

I’ve worked with Andy’s Home and Business Repair in the past. The company, and the work done by the company, is top-notch and high-quality. My latest experience was more of the same. The crew arrived on time and went right to work. It was a two-day job, and at the end of first day, they cleaned up the work site like they were completely finished. When I want work done, I want it done right. When I need work done, I don’t even consider anyone other than Andy. I’m comfortable with the work ethic, craftsmanship, professionalism, and excellence that I get with Andy. The peace of mind in knowing that I’m going to get a quality job, every time, is priceless.

It went very well, arrived on time. He did have to go out to purchase materials when it was discovered that the existing drain had to be altered to accommodate the new sink. He tested everything and cleaned up.

Andy and Terri are great to work with! They follow up with emails and phone calls and Andy was very punctual. The work was performed in the time they said it would and looks great! Andy goes out of his way to do a good job and I would highly recommend him (actually, I already have)!

I had started this remodel project with another contractor who did not work out, leaving me with a garage full of building materials and no one to complete the work. Terri was very responsive to my inquiry and called me back the same day. I told her my story, and she set up an appointment for Andy to come out and look at the rest of the project. Anyone considering using this company should be aware that their prices are quite a bit higher than the average installation cost for the area (based on information I got from homewyse.com, and taking the average of the other bids that we have received for this project). For some people, budget may not be an issue, but for me, I work hard for what I have and budget is important. For example, this company quoted me $1,190 in total for removing backsplash tile and replacing the countertop/sink - the average of the other bids I received was $650 for the countertop/sink and $200 for removing the backsplash tile. For tiling approx 50 sq ft of floor, the bid came in at $1,037, or about $20/sqft - the average of other bids we have received is approx. $10/sq. ft. including backerboard installation on the landing with subfloor. All that aside, the most shocking to me was the $375 to re-install the baseboard/quarter round on the wall - Homewyse.com shows average costs for that are about $125-$225 in cases where the boards have to be cut and then installed. In my case, they just had to be re-attached to the wall, so i am really not sure how that is calculated. I can't comment on other bid comparisons because I took 20 minutes of my time and nailed them all back on myself last night. The D grade I gave for professionalism comes from two things - first being when I initially talked to Terri about the project she made a comment about her experience is that Angie's List customers typically have had a prior bad experience, and in her experience don't care what things cost. Then, when I replied to the email to let Terri know that I would be using another company to do the job, I was upfront in my reasoning that her overall job bid was almost 3x higher than any other bids I have received (from other A rated Angies List contractors I might add) and way outside of my project budget. Her initial response was to say that the price was higher because it costs more to fix what someone else had done (which was not even what they were doing), and that they are 3x better than anyone else. Ok. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, I replied back that none of the remaining project involved correcting the first contractors’ mistakes, and asked if that would affect the bid - her response took a different direction than the first, mentioning that big box stores use undocumented workers (I assume she was thinking I was referring to pricing I had gotten from Lowes or something, and in my experience that statement is untrue anyway), that they thought they had given me borderline prices and thought they were actually charging me too little, and that I should go ahead and use somebody cheaper, because they are not hurting for work. Wow. Granted, going with the cheapest bid did burn me before, but I do know how to Google.... there are hundreds of websites out there that help prevent people from being taken advantage of. And I don't feel like it was necessary to be that many levels of rude because you did not get a job - that is why there is a bidding process, so people can find the right fit all around – including their budgets.

He came on time and was very qualified to do the jobs he did, plus a lot more.

Andy arrived on time and completed all the work in a short amount of time. He did a great job and I would recommend him to anyone needing work done around the house.

He always shows up when he says he will and leaves the house not only repaired but cleaner than when he started. I trust him implicitly and am extraordinarilly addicted to his work. He is also an artist, which is perfect for me as I have little concept of how a small sample of paper, paint, or hardwood would look after installed. I let him choose. In addition as an artist he does sponge painting of walls that look better than wallpaper and will probably be more serviceable over time. So far, I have not found a project he cannot do. I hate to recommend him because I want to keep his work time for my needs, but that would be unfair. In short, he and Terri are amazing and I am grateful to have found them and enjoy their work. You will never be disappointed with this company.
