LANDSCAPING. STONE WALLS, ORNAMENTAL PONDS, LIGHT HAULING, TOPSOIL, MULCH, TIE WALLS, TREE REMOVAL, & PATIOS. CERTIFIED FOR INSTALLING ANCHOR AND BELGARD WALL AND PATIO SYSTEMS.
At the start of the project, it went well. We had some rain delay, and he had to wait until things dried out to work. He did miss some ideal days to work on other customers for mowing and leaf cleanup (this was in the fall), I understood this but you hate to see your job go over by that much time. I was really hoping I could give Don a higher score than I did, however, I needed to fix some of what he did this summer (I still have one area to correct sloping). In particular, we had settling, which indicates that the base was not compacted near as well as it should have been. Also, it wasn't sloped the way I would have liked. I discussed the sloping I wanted when we scoped out the design, however he sloped it differently which I didn't realize until he started laying the pavers. (He should have discussed this with me prior to making the change) I discussed this with Don and he assured it would not be a problem, but if I wanted to change it he was going to charge me more. I didn't have him change it and it is a problem. A vertical crack that was repaired when we bought our house has opened back up and water is coming into the basement when it rains due to the fact he didn't slope away from the rear of the house. He went from left to right, instead of from wall out. He also didn't install the polymeric sand correctly and it washed out by spring. I reapplied this in the fall, since by that time most of the sand had washed out from between the pavers. This also made fixing the settling spots easier. While the patio looked great when he finished it (see pictures), Don installed the pavers freehand (no pattern) and it looks great. I just didn't expect to have settling by the next summer. I didn't contact Don to fix these areas, I figured, if I wanted it fixed right, I would do it myself. When we were bidding the work out, our other quote was from Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. The price difference was not significantly higher, and my wife was comfortable with Don and thought he would do a good job. I had checked BBB and other state complaint sites, but had I checked Angie's List, I honestly would have used Agape and after reading their reviews, likely will for future work. Sorry Don, but for what we paid, I expected your guys would have compacted the base much better and the polymeric sand wouldn't have been gone in less than a year. I am also not looking forward to removing and reinstalling the steps to fix the slope issues at the back of the house. I did have Don aerate our lawn while he was here, which he did a great job on.
Description of Work: Don removed a builder grade deck that was falling apart after 9 years and replaced it with a large paver patio. Due to the slope of the yard, a retaining wall was built on one side and gravel was hauled in to level out the patio. We increased the size a bit to just over 500 Sq Ft. after the deck was removed and added planter beds on the raised side while work was ongoing. This increased the price by ~$2,000. A little higher than I was expecting and wish Don would have given me the price upfront, rather than at the end. We had Don install Belgard pavers and retaining block around the patio. He suggested a less expensive Anchor brand, but we liked the look of the Belgard that we selected. We also knew we would pay a little more for Belgard. (The wife knows the style she likes). I decided to put yes for using Don again, however, not for hardscape (see explanation below).

We have tried to use them but they have not honored their service agreement with us. They delivered the materials to my yard but they have not done the work. I have not received any information from them for the delay in completing the work. I have given them the benefit of the doubt and will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I contacted them for landscaping work.

We did not have a good experience. We are redoing what they did. We were unhappy with the work they did, it was awful. I had to redo everything they did.

We met Don at the STL home show. He was very responsive in developing a quote, flexible in meeting our needs, and quick when the work began. His pricing was very competitive. His work was excellent. Only negative was the delay in start date, but weather was a factor. Once work began it was completed promptly. Several other neighbors contracted with Don as well and were pleased with his performance.
Description of Work: Town & Country built two retaining walls in my yard, both around 3 feet tall. The larger of the two walls was quite challenging, built on a sloped rocky hill.

ON A FRIDAY NIGHT LATE, THE WORKERS DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD CUT OUR GRASS. THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY LEFT THE DECISION UP TO THE WORKERS. THEY COULD HAVE SAID, "NO, WE ARE DONE FOR THE WEEK."
Description of Work: PROVIDED GRASS CUTTING. OUR NEIGHBORS WERE GETTING GRASS CUT AND WE ASKED IF THEY COULD CUT OURS WHEN OUR MOWER WAS BROKEN.
