They had to repair a part in our furnace. They get an A grading overall. Their pricing seemed okay. It only took them a couple hours or so to complete the repair and they left the area clean.

Well worth the price. As far as I know, nothing has went wrong. You better believe it, yes. Based on the time they spent, they clean the filters. They go above and beyond. I would expect on an normal inspection, and cleaning. I would say basically they maintain your heating and cooling units, so you don't have a big problem later on. I would give them top A, for what they do. They make repairs if anything is wrong. There was one, and its usually the same people. They become a client to a particular technician, for the summer and fall. Three hours.

My Sister-in-Law had just used them herself for a new gas furnace and recommended them to us. We were very pleased with both the Engineer who came to check out our current setup, offering great suggestions for us (our house is hear 100 years old) and also with the technicians who installed our units. All was done promptly, on target, price was very fair (I shopped around) and overall we are perfectly happy customers.

I have an yearly contract with them. I think the overall contract is less than $200 a year and then the service is like $68 when they come out. Plus, if I need any extra parts or anything like that then that's extra. I have a boiler and my pilot light kept going out. I had three companies out and these three companies could not figure out why that was happening. This particular company figured it out. Ever since they've been working on my furnace and air conditioning I haven't had any problems at all.

They are coming out again tomorrow. I have only used them for checkups and they seem to be pretty thorough. I do not remember right offhand how much they charged me for the last service that they provided and I am not really sure what the rates of the other companies are normally. They come out during the seasons and my husband found them in the yellow pages, I guess. The representatives that came out the last time were pretty thorough. I had a little trouble getting them scheduled for the summer checkup but I guess that that was because everybody was trying to get in.

We have an ongoing savings plan with Courtney in which they come every winter and summer to perform a service check up on our furnace and air conditioner. We prepaid for the plan and then pay a reduced cost for the service calls. By participating in this plan, we feel that we are extending the life of our equipment and minimizing the chance of inconvenient breakdowns. They are always pleasant and professional. From the very first time I talked with Holly on the phone to set up the first quote until signing the contract Courtneys has been very professional. Paul, their estimator and engineer came out and gave me a quote. He called on his way over and apologized over and over again for being about 15 minutes late. Which I told him not to worry at all about it because I was actually ten minutes late getting home myself. We sat down and talked about all my needs and wants with a new system. While talking with him you could tell he had great knowledge and enthusiasm in what he did. He then looked at our old system and took measurements. Then we discussed my options with a new system and what he would recommend. He then did a walk around the outside of the entire home and took more measurements and noted the way the sun hit the home. The next day he had one of his colleagues, Mellissa email me over the quote. I had a couple of questions about the quote and the models he was recommending so I emailed my questions to Mellissa. She emailed me back very promptly, with answers to my questions. Mellissa and I had emailed back and forth several times until I had tweaked everything in the contract the way I wanted it to be installed. She was such a pleasure to work with, and made it easier on me with my hectic work and sleep schedule. Next came accepting and signing the contract. I told Paul that my A/C had run out of freon and he said no problem he would send over someone to top me off until they get my new unit installed. Free of charge at that!!! He then made it easy for me as far as signing and emailing the contract back into Mellissa. I then called later today and talked with a very friendly voice, Holly. She found my signed contract and put me through to Tiffany. Tiffany went over the contract with me and took my credit card over the phone. She then scheduled a time for them to come over to top off the A/C. And most importantly, scheduled the install of the new sytstem for 6/13/2014. Thank you so much Holly, and Tiffany. And very special thanks to Melissa and Paul. I cannot wait for our new system! I had 6 bids. Not one company beat them in price. No one even came close to their 5 year parts and labor warranty. Nor their 12 year parts warranty. Do yourself a favor and call them and get an estimate. You won't be sorry.

Courtney's came to my home and measured the house for the appropriate new AC and furnace. They provided alternatives on what systems could be installed. I chose a 95% efficient AC and 80% efficient furnance. On the install date, the installers arrived, quickly removed the old AC and furnace, installed the new Lenox system, tested the system, and then cleaned up. I have always Courtney's to be very fair and the workmanship was excellent. A month after the install, Courtney's arrived, checked the system, and measured the efficiency. The new Lenox system is working great! Courteny's did a fantastic job! I would high recommend them.

I am very unsatisfied with the quality of the product I purchased and the time it took Courtneys to resolve the issue. I have had about 10 visits from Courtneys technicians to repair my unit. I get errors on the thermostat and occasionally the air shuts off completely and must be reset in the basement. After about the 10th visit, Lennox finally did replace the unit completely. I am not sure if the problem will re-appear, it usually takes approximate 7 days for the issue to show up. In the past they had replaced the evaporator coil, some type of motor. The first three visits of the problem, Courtneys just reset the unit and said they adjusted the charge and that nothing was wrong. I feel that this unit may be new to them and they don't fully understand it. The main problem I have with Courtneys and its ownership is this: In the contract it states that you can return the unit at anytime within a year for a full/complete refund. After about the 8th visit, I did try to do this, I was told it would take 45 days to get a refund. It's hot out and I need to keep my family and child cool, so of course, I would need the funds right away to get a new unit installed, I ended up being forced to stay with this system due to the lack of care by Phil Courtney. Phil Courtney's excuse for this was and quot;I have to wait for Lennox to refund me, before I can refund you.and quot; Pretty odd excuse in my opinion, so when signing a contract with courtneys, you may want to get refund terms set up front. I asked for a partial refund due to the constant inconvenience, and they refused to do this as well, stating that they had to pay for a technician to come to my home and fix it. Honestly, that's not my problem. Side note: Paul, the sales engineer was great, and Tiffany the dispatcher was easy to work with. I posted this review and decided to edit it. It is now Feb 2014, My heat pump has not functioned all winter, even in mild temps, I am always in emergency heat. I tried to invoke the no lemon guarantee on my proposal: and quot;NO LEMON GUARANTEE: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the equipment we installed. (from the date of install up to one year) we will remove equipment and give you your money back in full). They now refuse to come and remove the equipment. Stay away from this company, they are crooked and do not honor guarantees that are cleared listed on the proposal.

Response from Courtneys Heating Cooling
On April 16, 2013 Courtney’s Heating & Cooling installed the new Lennox heat pump, evaporator coil, and gas forced air furnace at [member name’s] home. Between May 18, 2013 and June 13, 2013 [member name] had reported several intermittent problems with his system not functioning properly. Each time [member name] called, Courtney’s Heating & Cooling responded promptly and sent a technician out to get the system back running properly. [member name] was never without cooling for any extended period of time. On June 19, 2013 [member name] called and spoke with Phil Courtney, the owner of Courtney’s Heating & Cooling, and said the system locked out again. He was very upset and wanted his money back. Since this unit continued to have these lockout issues, Phil Courtney contacted Jim Rezab, a Lennox factory representative, and was given authorization to replace the heat pump and evaporator coil. Phil Courtney contacted [member name] and [member name] agreed to let us install the new equipment. On June 25,2013 Courtney’s Heating & Cooling installed a new heat pump and evaporator coil. The new system was operating properly and Courtney’s Heating & Cooling was never notified by [member name] of any further problems . We were not contacted again by [member name] until February 7, 2014. He called and said he wanted to schedule for the system to be removed and get his money back. Tiffany, our service coordinator, asked him what type of problem he was experiencing and he stated that his heat pump was not working. Tiffany explained that due to the current temperature of 13° his heat pump would not operate. Tiffany explained to [member name] that the heat pump system is designed to run and operate down to temperatures of 35-40° and when temperatures lower than this occurred the system would switch over to emergency heat, which is his gas furnace. Tiffany then explained that this has been an unusually cold winter and most days have been below freezing, so during this very cold winter the heat pump may not run too often. [member name] then stated that the heat pump has not operated all winter. Tiffany asked [member name] why he had not contacted us to come out to check it out and he said he had another company out to his home and they said the heat pump was not working. Tiffany explained to [member name] that if another company works on the system it voids our warranties that he has with us because we cannot guarantee the quality of workmanship that another company may provide. [member name] became very angry and stated that if we did not give him his money back he would contact a lawyer and hung up. In conclusion, Courtney’s Heating & Cooling feels that we responded promptly to each of [member name’s] calls and made sure he was never without cooling for any significant amount of time. Also, we replaced the heat pump due to the problems that had occurred in the beginning with the original unit. Until his call in February to demand his money back we were never notified of any issues with the heat pump this winter. It is hard to believe that [member name] has been without heat the entire winter especially with these frigid temperatures we have been having in St. Louis and if [member name] had been without heat all winter he would have contacted us before now. Courtney's Heating & Cooling has been in business since 1977 and has prided ourselves on our customer service. However, we feel that since another company had been working on the system that they could have compromised the system and this is not something we can or should be held accountable for. The "No Lemon Guarantee" requires there to be a problem with the system. We have to be given the opportunity to have the manufacture of the equipment inspect the system to show that there is a problem. With this being said, our resolution would be to let the Lennox representative come out to inspect the system and If there is a problem then we can address the refund on that piece of equipment that is having the problem.

This company was one of two recommended by my condo association. I was initially quite pleased with them, mostly due to Paul their engineer who was professional and courteous. However, after I had purchased my AC with them in 2008 and started doing my yearly checkup with them, I became less and less impress by them, mostly due to one of their office staff (Holly) and some of their technicians. In previous years, I had technicians show up and I was uncomfortable with them. Even though they wear uniforms with their name on it, I'm a woman and before I want to let someone in my home, I expect them to introduce themselves. It's not too much to ask for and quot;hi, I'm Bill from Courtney's Heating and Cooling and I'm here for your AC tune upand quot; (for example). St. Louis is not a big city, but this day and age, I don't know you and anyone can grab some tools and pretend to be a worker. This year, I called for my tune up and I was given a appointment two weeks later. Not only that, my appointment time was between 8-12. I am a nurse and I worked last night, so I ended up skipping sleep to wait for them. They typically gives you a call before sending the technician over (not for the customer's benefit, but to make sure you are home so that the technician won't have to come out there and have no one at the house). I have choppy cell phone reception, so when they called, it went right to the voicemail. Unfortunately when I called them back, I talked to Holly. Instead of telling me that they will go ahead and send the technician my way when they are available, she was argumentative and rude. She basically told me that it was my fault that I didn't pick up my phone so they had sent the technician elsewhere without offering me anything. When I asked to speak to the manager, she pretended like she didn't hear my request and continues to cut me off to tell me that's how that's their protocol and how they do business. It got to the point where I basically had to say and quot;I've waited 3 hours, please just make sure the technician can get to my place and I don't really want to talk to her any more. I called back a few minutes later (luckily I got someone else) and asked to speak to their owner, but was told that he is not available. It wasn't until I called back a third time (and got a different person) before someone actually listened to the customer's complaint and apologized for Holly and assured me that they will be sending a technician my way as soon as possible. Maybe I have high standards, but one shouldn't have to settle for crappy services.

When they came out to service our A/C units for regular maintenance, they discovered a problem and fixed it on the spot so that we could turn our systems on safely when the weather got warmer. I really like Courtney's because they seem to work well with older systems and are conservative about fixing things instead of replacing them.

I keep going back to them because of the level of their professionalism and responsiveness. I just feel really confident. In the beginning when I first had them, I did probably bid out certain jobs with the other houses that I had, and in the end, I always chose them. So, now I do not even go out for other bids. I just go ahead and let them do the work. Their pricing is very fair.

Paul from Courtney's came over within a few days of making an appointment. He was clearly very knowledgable and also pleasant to talk with. Paul made two separate visits and was at my house for, altogether, about 4 hours. He was very thorough and went to the trouble of climbing into our attic to evaluate and measure the duct work before doing a a load calculation. I should note that only two of the four companies I worked with did a load calculation, which is HVAC 101. Clearly Paul was one of the good guys! Paul focused a lot on the backdraft issue and really stressed the potential danger that we were in. He made solid recommendations on furnace and AC replacements, strongly recommended a flue liner, replacement of a small section of clearly faulty ductwork in the attic, and baffles in the return to reduce the noise from the return. Paul also noticed the flue pipe was far too short, which was likely adding to the backdraft problem, so he recommended lengthening it as well. In the end, I didn't select Courtneys, but frankly, I was very impressed with Paul and for the most part I felt his recommendations were spot on. Paul knew I needed a quote quickly and went out of his way to get me a very timely quote, which I very much appreciated. The quote was very competitive and actually lower than the quote from the company that I selected. So many good things to say --- so why didn't I select them? Courtneys contract had a big section on it for guarantees, each with its own checkbox indicating that it would apply or not to this job. Some of the guarantees talked about guaranteeing comfort, while others guaranteed reducing the temperature in the summer by XX degrees. Ultimately, the only guarantee that they could check off was that the quoted price was the final price and there would be no surprises. I asked Paul about this, saying if I'm going to be replacing the entire HVAC system, repairing ductwork, etc, and spending 7-8k (which is around what I was expecting) that Courtneys had to give me some comfort guarantees. But he couldn't do it. That just did not sit well with me or my wife. The company I ended up going with was equally knowledgable, helpful, and thorough. But when they replace your whole system, their system included a comfort guarantee. It made clear in plain English that if we were not comfortable at any time in the next 5 years, they would do whatever it took to make us comfortable at no additional cost to us. I did my due diligence on their guarantee and trust it. Also, to explain my rating on punctuality, Paul was late to both appointments. 20-30 minutes late on the first one and the second appointment he had to reschedule, meaning the half day off of work I took to meet him was wasted. Honestly though, it wasn't too big a deal to me --- I'm not buying their punctuality, I'm buying their HVAC expertise. And Paul clearly has the latter! Overall, I give Courtneys, and especially Paul, a big thumbs up!
Description of Work: My furnace was 23 years old and having frequent problems, while my air conditioner was functioning properly (technically) but could not keep the house comfortable in the summer. Clearly I needed some work done. My extremely short return duct also means whenever the AC or heater is on, it sounds like an air plane to preparing to take off in our living room. I also recently discovered I have some backdraft coming in from the water heater when both the water heater and furnace are on, which was making the utility room 90+ degrees in the winter and undoubtedly filling it with toxic fumes. I called in four different companies I picked from Angies List to listen to my concerns and come up with their own plan to fix my problems.

Looked on Angie's List under radiators to see if anyone dealt with changing out the valves that you bleed to get water in the system. In reading reviews, one stuck out concerning radiator repair and Courtney Heating and Cooling were the company. We called office, could send someone out after we were home from work, (nice factor). We drained the whole system for the technician. As it turns out, he was so quick and efficient, all three radiators were taken care of within less than 1/2 hour and he said we wouldn't have had to drain system, very little leakage. We were pleased with promptness, and evening service hour. Would recommend to anyone.
Description of Work: the bleeding valve on 3 radiators did not work, and we had only 1 radiator on the first floor that we could bleed to get the water in system. the technician was able very quickly to exchange the valve off of the three radiators and the system is running smoothly.

My A/ C went our on the Fourth of July. The temperature was only about 105 degrees. I called Courtney's emergency number and a technician called me back within 15 minutes. It was approximately 4:30 PM when I called. The technician gave me two options: due to the work load caused by the heat, he could come to my house after mid-night or the next business day. I chose the next day. By 10:00 AM on 5 July, the technician was there. He replaced the part and I had air conditioning by 10:45. everyone at Courtney is courteous and professional. I highly recommend Courtney's.
