Based off of other peoples’ reviews I decided to give AIM a try as opposed to another business I have used in the past. They were quick to answer my initial email, quick to reschedule due to poor weather, and on time the day of the appointment. He explained what they were doing and what I needed to do once they were finished. Would absolutely use them again!
Description of Work: Entire house carpet cleaning +2 area rugs. Removed pet stains as well. Three story house and two flights of stairs.

When Jim (and a second technician, Josh) arrived he examined my carpet and cleaned a 3 foot X 3 foot area. He informed me that the reason the carpet was so dirty was because the last company did not get out all of the soap. We agreed on a price for him to scrub and do an advanced cleaning while adding on my hallway and bathrooms. The carpets look wonderful and I am extremely satisfied. I recommend Jim Bartels and Aim Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning without reservation.
Description of Work: I live in a second floor condo. My beige carpet needed to be cleaned by someone that had independent equipment (not in a truck). I hired Jim Bartels, Owner of Aim Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning. The price was excellent because he was offering a special through Groupon to clean 1400 square feet.

He said he could do a Scotch guard treatment for $100 extra that would keep it from staining in the future, but that didn't work. Also he charged me for the $89 that I already paid to Angie's list

I apologize you feel this way. This job was done on March ,27 2015. The Livingsocial deal only included a pretreatment and steam cleaning. It is also written that heavily soiled areas would be extra. You actually had the 6 room $59 deal and opted for 100 sq. Ft of deep cleaning for $30 adding 15 steps plus a landing for $50 a pet odor eliminator and sanitizer due to the urine in the 300 sq ft for $90 ($60 disinfectant and $30 deodorizer) and the carpet protectant (to prevent future stains) for $60 on the 300 sq. Ft. We also go over all of this pricing prior to doing anything additional. We will only do the recommended work if the customer agrees And the only reason we recommended this for you was the amount of pet stains on the carpet. If you have any questions in the future feel free to call Jim @ 314-941-1340. We do stand behind our work and give our customers 30 days to call us back for any reason.

This $39 carpet cleaning ended up costing us over $300. When we scheduled the appointment (I had to call twice to get a response), I specifically asked if we needed to vacuum prior to the cleaning because the floors were filthy (we had just moved out of the home and have pets). I was told the technician would vacuum before cleaning. When the technician arrived to clean the carpets, my husband met him at the house and again asked if he should go get our vacuum and use it before the cleaning. He was told not to, that the machine that cleans the carpets also vacuums. After the carpets were cleaned, all of the cleaning solution was dumped down our toilet instead of being disposed of by the company. When they left, we immediately noticed that there were big chunks of fur on the carpets because they had not been vacuumed. The plumbing was also not functioning properly. We immediately called and spoke with the owner. He was not friendly at all and told my husband that he never told me not to vacuum. My husband expressed concern about the solution being put into our plumbing system and was told that this is "standard practice." Within a week our main sewer line was clogged (the home is unoccupied and the plumbing was used very infrequently). Fur and debris were pulled out of the main line by our plumber, costing us an additional $300. I emailed AIM again to express my concern and the owner told me we had already addressed the issue of not vacuuming and that it follows OSHA regulations to flush cleaning solution down the toilet. He was very defensive and unwilling to work with me. He did finally concede to look at the receipt from my plumber, which I sent over immediately and expected follow-up from, but he never contacted me again.

I apologize you had to call twice, we are a smaller company and I also work some of the cleaning jobs as well as answer the calls to help keep our cost down for us and the customer. So, we are not always able to get to the calls right away. As far as vacuuming, in all the years I have done this, I have never told a customer we would vacuum, actually quite the opposite. I tell any customer that asks, to please vacuum as it will make the cleaning process go much smoother. We also offered to scrub the hair out of the carpet (that does cost more) , but the customer declined. As far as the sewer bill, I asked the customer to please send a copy of the bill which I have not received yet to look over and see if we can help out in any way. Being as busy as I am, things slip my mind, so if I do not get the email or a return call, I do not always remember them. However, if we receive the copy of the bill sent to aimcarpetcleaning@yahoo.com , or if it was sentt there , the customer can call or text me at 3149411340 to let me know and I will be more than happy to look over the bill and see if there is something we can do to help.

Used a groupon for part of the service. Was able to come on a Saturday but ran a little late. We had just purchased the home and had no idea of previous work done on carpet or where stains originated from. Carpets looked and smelled much better after service, however he was not able to get up against the baseboards because all of his equipment had a lip on it that prevented him getting too close. This might be typical, but there was a lot of debris along the baseboards I was hoping to have picked up. Through in the disinfecting service complimentary, after seeing state of carpet.

AIM exceeded our expectations. We started with a coupon for cleaning. The rep was up-front during our call about likely additional costs based on the state of our carpets. The technician showed us the difference in scrubbing versus steaming and helped us pick the service that provided the best cleaning for our carpets.

Description of Work: Got a living social deal for $39 for three rooms up to 900 sq ft of carpet. The carpets look great, he did a nice job and showed up on schedule, but charged another $60 to get the stains out since his "normal solution" wasnt doing the job, and another $54 for the stairs ($3/stair, we knew this was extra) even though he only ended up doing ~500 sq ft rather than the 900 sq ft the deal specified. so this "deal" actually cost us ~ $153 for 2 big rooms + stairs. So just be aware going into it that you may be paying more.

I apprecite your response and would just like to add that all of our online deals are a maintenance cleaning. Defined as maintaining the look of the carpet. Each deal specifies that heavy soiled areas wil be an additional cost. Heavily soiled areas are any ares of discoloration in the carpet that you yourself would need to use a spot cleaner on, as that takes putting down an extra solution and scrubbing the area out. As far as the 900 square feet, we use that number so that anyone with three rooms can get their rooms cleaned. Big or small. We do not discount an already 62% discounted service just because a customer doesn't have the full square footage. Lastly, just to clarify for anyone reading the review, our company does not just charge for the extra services and give a bill. We show the customer how we can make the carpet look better, present them the price for doing so and then we do that additional service only if they agree to it. We do not do anything additional without the permission of the person their in charge of the decisions. Thank you for your business

I bought a Groupon for AIM to come do duct cleaning in the house. The Groupon states that they would clean 8 ducts, 1 return vent and 1 main line for $39. Great deal! So they came, and then the games started. I actually had 9 ducts, so to get the 9th duct cleaned was an extra $10. No problem there. Then they said every bend in the main line counted as a separate main line. So even though I only have 1 main duct shaft, they counted it as FIVE. In order to get the whole shaft done, it would be an extra $50 per shaft, plus an extra $20 for every access panel they had to create. So 4 extra main lines with 4 extra access panel would have been an additional $280. Then they said I had 2 grates covering my return vent. Each grate counted as a separate return, running me another $15. In total, they wanted to charge me and extra $305. Totally ridiculous. I told them I would pay for the 9th duct and the additional return vent. They agreed, but were a little pushy in trying to get me to pay for the additional main lines. I don't believe it stated anywhere on the Groupon how they counted main lines and return vents. I was very disappointed. To top it off, they checked my clothes dryer venting tube. They said that the tube was filthy and needed to be cleaned. They were right. They then tried to charge me $89 to clean the 10 foot tube. I told them they were out of their minds and that I could buy a brand new tube for about $10. They acknowledged that was the case and then told me they could do it for $69. At that point I was literally laughing at how ridiculously hard they were trying to get me to buy extra services. They finally said, and quot;it's an old style tube that wouldn't survive a fire and should be replaced.and quot; Well, then why are you offering to clean it for me for $69? I told them to no thanks and that their job was done here. On the positive note, they did an excellent job with the cleaning I did allow them to do, even taking pictures to show me before and after. On more negative notes, we have a 3 week old baby in the house and they gave no warning about how loud the equipment was going to be (hint: incredibly loud). I would have appreciated the opportunity to get her out of the house. They also didn't wear any shoe coverings. That's something I've seen higher end companies do as a courtesy to ensure they don't track their dirty work boots through the house. I will not be using AIM again for anything. UPDATE 4/17/13 - I'm pleased to report that I received a call from Jim, the owner of the company, after he heard about our poor experience. He agreed that it sounded like they could have done a better job and offered to come out and clean the rest of the ducts in my house. I'm not sure that's necessary, but it is very obvious Jim cares about how his company is run and how his employees are act as the face of the company. I certainly appreciated his response and feel confident if I did use them again, Jim would make sure everything was up to a much higher standard.

Response from AIM Carpet and Air Duct Cleaning
My name is Jim, I am The owner of Aim Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning. First and foremost, I would like to apologize for the experience you had with our company. I had no idea that there was an issue with the service as I had received no calls or correspondence of any kind. I like the opportunity to fix an issue before it goes this far. I have guys woorking for me and unfortunately not every house is the same and I can't be rigt behind the on every job, therefore if there is an issue, my only line of defense is my customer letting me know. I have never had an issue to this magnitude in 3 years and would love the opportunity to take a look at the duct work to see where my guy went wrong as well as fix the situation for you. I am an honest buisiness person and having a small business these types of things can hurt our business. As far as the dryer vent and baby go, I am in total agreement. I would have told you myself it was cheaper to replace it and that it probably should be replaced. As far as your child, I have 3 of my own and wouldalso respect the courtesy of knowing if something is going to be overly loud. I instruct my guys and I always let my customers know once I arrive and asses the situation that if my equipment has to be inside, it will be quite loud and if they need time to make arrangements, I am fine with that. As far as the shoe coverings we carry them and use as requested. I understand now that we should use them on every job. To finish, again I apologize for your experience, I will go over these issues with my employees. I can only hope that you will alllow me to fix this situation as I have not been to your home nor have I seen the layout, however I am 100% positive I can make this a much better experience if given the opportunity. Thank you for the feedback, Jim Bartels 314-941-1340

Overall, the service went very well. We purchased a certificate for a $29 air duct cleaning including 8 vents and 1 register. The technican showed us all of the collected dust (and some mold) in the registers and we decided to have them treat the entire house.
