Drain Medics

So as it turn out they made a small problem into a big one. Yes it was only $80, but they not only didn't fix the problem, but they told me it was my fault. Just tell me you weren't able to fix the problem and I will still pay you!! When I called them and told them there was water leaking from the second floor to the basement they said "they don't fix that kind of problem." I told them it wasn't leaking until they showed up and that they were liable for the issue. THEY HUNG UP ON ME. I am not kidding. Call a real plumber. these people might be able to pour drain-o in your sink or tub, but they do not fix issues. Just own the problem and tell me to call someone. What a joke this place is. I am sure the positive reviews say "they fixed my issue" but these people will not help you when they turn an issue into a large problem. Call Roto-Rooter. You get what you pay for. Pay them their flat fee so you can pay a lot more to a reputable plumbing business to fix your issue..... or just skip these clowns and call a plumber.

Terrible. They did finally correct the problem after the second visit. I used this company before with good results. I will never use them again and I have filed fraud charges against this company.

I will never use this company again and I hope nobody else does or I hope you have better luck. They use to be a good company.

The plumber came on time, found the issue, waived extra fees, and fixed it all within a half hour or so. They were also way cheaper than alternative emergency options.

Wonderful! Carl was running late and let us know. He was able to pin point where a possible dis-connect was in the buried drain and continued to try to find the end of the pipe. He was ready to give up due to a lot of interference on the camera line. He adjusted the MHz and give it another try. He was able to locate the end of the pipe. Later in the afternoon we dug where he pointed out we should and within 15 minutes had found our pipe we'd been digging for days for. Money well spent!

Technician arrived at approx. estimated time, it was clear immediately that he did not want to be here, it was close to 5 PM and I suspect he wanted to go home for the day. Since this was his second visit for this issue, the previous one two weeks earlier which apparently was not completed successfully since the backup starting occurring again, he knew where to go and what the issue was. He spent a short time trying to get his cables routed in to the sewer line and could not get it in. After 10 minutes or so he decided the issue must be on the inside of the house, not sure how he came to this conclusion since he never even tried to clean the line as I requested but since he was the "expert" I deferred and we went in to the house to main the drain in the basement. After 20-30 minutes trying to get his cable routed in to that drain, which was also unsuccessful, he came to the conclusion that I had a collapsed pipe and my issue "was much bigger than a clogged drain". I than asked him to go back outside and clean out the sewer line as I had originally requested. I remained in the basement trying to clean up the god awful mess he left, black gunk all over the floor, on the hand rail going back upstairs, light switch covers, on the basement carpeting etc., he came back in and told me "I have done all I can do and I am going to leave". At this point I had enough and told him he should do what he needs to do and that I would call his competition. He indeed packed up his gear, never running his cable through the line as requested and that was that. It took about 2 hours for another company to arrive, they were extremely professional and polite and had my line cleared in less than an hour. I called the company the following morning to request a refund since I had to hire someone else to do the job I already paid them for and was told no, apparently I was suppose to live with standing sewage water in my basement until they could find someone competent enough to do the job I paid them for. I would not recommend this company and will never use them again.

I had this company out in late September of 2015 to cable the drains after a minor sewer back-up. I thought they did a good job, but obviously not, because 3 months later I had a major sewer back-up with 4" of water all over my basement. I had to spend money on a) a company to pump out the water, 2) cabling by Drain Medics, 3) a new water heater, and 4) a pressure regulator on the water line, which was required by the county after the water heater was installed. I threw out 35 bags of belongings that were ruined by the flood.I then hired another company to run a camera from the standpipe in the basement outside through the sewer lateral line. He discovered a 3 foot blockage of roots; even though some water was getting through, the problem was not solved. I got a referral from a co-worker for a different drain cable company. They brought out a 'Spartan' machine, and it took them 75 minutes to cut through all of the roots. Last week I called Drain Medics and spoke to the office manager; I asked that the owner call me but he never has done so. The office manager told me that they have a 30 day warranty, which is worthless in my opinion, as the new company I hired gave me a one year warranty. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and going to Small Claims Court to recoup the $2000 in expenses that I have incurred. NOTE: this company is NOT a member of the Better Business Bureau.

Called on Friday evening after a line back-up. Prompt courteous response with approximate service time on Saturday. There was a slight delay in making the appointment but understandable in that service of this kind cannot be timed to the minute. Carl did a good job explaining what he was doing at each step of the process. His work was neat and efficient and he offered suggestions for preventing a future problem. We were very pleased with the service and would use this company again.

I called them about 8:30 p.m. last night, and they said they could have someone come out at 8 a.m. this morning. The main drain had backed up leaving a flood in the basement. Ernie, the service tech, called before arriving. He came exactly at 8 a.m. He was very knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. He explained every thing he was doing. It took about one hour but he was able to get the drain unplugged. Apparently, roots had come through the tile pipes under the house, so even though I had the lateral sewer line replaced several years ago along with the stack in the house, the roots under the house were causing the problem. He explained what I could do to prevent this problem in the future. It would be worth it to me to have this company come out once per year.

Drain Medics did not snake the entire sewer line...they stopped at the garage. We were told by Drain Medics to contact the city who told us to hire someone with a camera to identify the problem. 360 dollars later it turned out to be a clog under the garage which we paid to have snaked for 75$ originally from Drain Medics. Called to report this to company and received excuses and never a response from the owner. Pay the extra 50$ and have it done right the first time. You get what you pay for.

Back story: We bought the house 8 years ago and despite having a huge gumball tree in the front yard never needed to snake the drains until now. So imagine the build up for a second........... We've always had somewhat show drains. I figured that was just part of the territory of having a home from the 1950s and a huge tree. Well this week the drain was slower than usual and there was some overflow at the drain that our washing machine uses to drain into in the basement. I thought it'd be a grand idea to go buy some chemical to put down it to clear it. Well the jug said that it could be used straight in the drain unlike the wimpy Drano brand. Great! says I that's the drain that's backing up. I buy the junk from Wal-Mart and bring it home Sunday night. Ignoring all the warning labels (yes, yes, I know, don't ingest it, don't use it as a lotion or cologne, etc) I went about pouring the 32 ounces into the drain semi-slowly (slowly is so boring). Black bubbles began to come up along with a horrible smell and smoke. Wonderful! It's working. I empty the bottle in the drain and carelessly threw the empty bottle away, ignoring again the warning label to place some kind of guard over the top of the drain in case of "eruption", yes they used that word. I walk into our downstairs bathroom to wash my hands, because, you know, I want to be safe, and there's water on the floor, it smells like the drain I was just at. In the shower there's more water and some floating black particles. I check our sewer access point in the basement floor at the front of the house and there was water around it and floating debris in the top (this point had a cover). The chemical had caused all downstairs sewer access points to bubble and possibly erupt (I wasn't there, if an eruption occurs and no one's there to see it was it an eruption or just a leak?). About 1/2 hour later the bubbly black slush has moved down a bit in the drain but still no great improvement. Trying to pour water into the drain didn't help so I admitted defeat and upon seeing a $75 price tag on the Service I got the wife to call Drain Medics. The wife called drain medics at 7:50am Monday as she'd be home part of the day and I wouldn't. They arranged to come out at 3pm same day (they actually would have come earlier around 10:30am but the wife needed to sleep as she works overnights at the hospital). From her account the guy came out and worked on the sewer access point on our front lawn. We have 3 access points (1 front lawn, 1 back lawn, 1 in basement towards front of the house) as well as the 2 drains in the basement that go straight there (laundry room and shower). From what she says he pulled out a bunch of toilet paper (a given, it was blocked, toilet paper won't go through easily) as well as a tons of tree roots. My chemical wouldn't have done that. It was quick and painless. Now we're just waiting for the lingering smell left by a combination of the chemicals and sewer water to go away. One important note is that they charge $5 to run a credit card, the wife had checks so it worked out well. The plumber recommended turning on all the faucets and flushing the toilets once a month to put some pressure on whatever may be growing inside the pipe and hopefully keep them clear. All-in-all $75 well spent, and $10 on a chemical that caused a reaction that would make any horror movie proud.

Easy to schedule. Serviceman arrived on time after an 'on the way' call. Performed service expeditiously and communicated well.

My basement flooded today so I called Drain Medic based on their reviews. The tech was out only an hour or so after i called. He quickly diagnosed the issue and unfortunately for me it was a broken riser trap in my driveway. He pulled out broken pieces of tile and the drain was completely filled with thick mud. He spent several hours trying to break through the thick mud and get the drain cleared. I can't imagine another company spending the amount of time and care that he gave me. He explained every step of the way. His level of expertise was above anything I expected. This company doesn't provide the work I need to complete the drain replacement but they explained exactly what is needed including what to tell the companies that I call for bids. He didn't leave until there was no water in my basement and the level was down in the drain in the broken trap. I really couldn't have asked for a better tech and I am very thankful for his honesty. He could have easily charged me at least double or even triple what he charged me considering he was at my house close to 3 hours. I am so thankful for this honest tech!

The service call went very well. The young man was professional and courteous. He was also very detailed in his work (quick and efficient). I will definitely use them again especially since they were cheaper than the first company we used a few months ago and did the job correctly. The only area for improvement I have is he tracked mud through the house. Providing shoe covers for those doing service work inside the house would be appreciated.

I called them around 12:00 noon on a Saturday. The technician was at our house at 12:45, and had cleared the drain by 1:10. The technician, Chris, was very professional, very polite, and very punctual. Their flat rate applies on week ends as well as week days, and was very reasonable. We will definitely use them for any future similar problems.

They are reliable and a very good value, a good price. They do a good job.

Called around 9 am, had sewer backing up intermittently for a few days. Gave me an appointment for just a few hours later that day. Service tech kept in touch about small delay in arriving to my house. Was so small that it was no big deal, but I appreciated beig kept in the loop. Charged exactly what was quoted over the line $75 flat for for cutting the roots, and extra $25 for havibg to access line from roof. Overall excellent service with a 30 day guarantee. Will be calling them next time we need roots cut out!

Representative was on time, friendly and professional. Got the job done quickly. I used this company 2 - 3 years ago when they were just getting established in the area. Great service then; great service now. Will definitely use them again in the future.

These guys are always prompt and do a terrific job. They always have very reasonable rates. Can't say enough good about them! The price was just as quoted, their quality is excellent and professional, there is always someone who answers phone calls in person, and they can set up an immediate visit and arrive on time.

I actually came across this company on Craigslist by accident. I had already scheduled with another plumber that afternoon. But when I saw the low fixed price, I had to do some more investigating. I called and spoke with Jim and he confirmed the fixed price was for the same thing the other guys were going to charge me almost double for. He also said he could get me in the same day. I was a little skeptical, but decided to go for it. I am so glad I did! This was not a bait and switch tactic at all. The tech showed up early, was extremely polite, and very good with explaining everything. He was unable to get results he wanted to see going in from one side, so he got on the roof and went back in from the other. That did the trick! My main was cleared and water was draining and flowing as it should. And he went ahead and waived the extra $25 charge for getting up on the roof, so I still only paid the low fixed price. This is the third time I have had to have my main cleared. I guess third time is a charm! This was hands down the best experience I have had with a service professional since I have owned my house. Don't pay the other guys double or even triple to do the same thing. This company is legit.

I asked to have 3 lines snaked. The first line, he snaked till he hit roots. He pulled out the line to show some roots and LOTS of shingle schlag. He did not go in again to see if he removed all of that blockage or if there was another blockage further down the line. The second line, he snaked till he hit mud, which he said indicated that the clay drainage line had probably collapsed. The third line I wanted him to snake was from the house to the septic tank. He accessed the first chamber of the septic tank, and between talking to his boss to get instructions and trying new heads on the snaking line, he banged around and stirred up the septic tank for about 30 min. I did some research and told him that I thought he was going at it from the wrong end, so after he conferred with his boss, he stopped. He wrote up in his notes a few comments about the septic tank levels being high and charged me for snaking all 3 lines. I was okay paying for the first 2 lines, though I would have preferred if he ran the snake down the first drain longer to show that it was completely clear. In regards to the septic line / tank, I felt frustrated. He admitted he was not familiar with septic tanks and it was unfortunate that the company sent someone inexperienced to do this job.

We actually found Jimm on Craigslist, called him with an emergency sewer issue and he came the same day! He was there for what we thought would be an easy drain unclog, but it ended up being more involved than that. He was extremely great by explaining everything that needed to be done before he did it. He ended up having to send a camera down the sewer to figure out how he could fix the problem. He was here for around 3 hours and did wonderful work. We will definitely use him again!
