Tried to hire for Wood Stove Install - I spent weeks calling and calling Mark trying to get my pipes ordered and get scheduled for installing my wood stove. Every time I talked with Mark, he was short, to the point, and acted like he did not have time to talk to me and as if I was bothering him. He never could answer my questions on all the phone calls I had to keep returning week after week! Mark never would give me call backs to keep me informed and I always had to keep calling him. I even texted the installer David to try and find out why no one was returning my calls and he said he would find out and let me know, then he never got back to me! After weeks of chasing them, David finally came out to do the install but they ordered the wrong size parts! They said they would call me to get me re-scheduled with the right parts and after 2 weeks of not hearing from them I had to start calling them again but Mark wouldn’t get my parts reordered nor return my calls. After over a month of wasted time, I had to call the owner. By then, I could see they were not competent enough to handle the job so I hired Cal-Air Mechanical in Fulton (573) 826-3333 who gave me the best most professional service I could ever ask for! I will let everyone know how awful Star Heating did me.

I have used them in the past and yes, I would use them again.

Our air conditioner quit Sunday night during a heat wave. I called Star Monday morning. They said that because of the heat wave, they could not help me until Tues or Weds. They called back later Monday and said they could be at my house in 20 minutes. I met them at the house, and they replaced the capacitor in about 30 minutes. I had suspected the problem was the capacitor. I was more than satisfied with the work. The air conditioner has now been working for a week, so the repair seems to have been the correct repair.

My central heat stopped working and I called in the evening. I set up for them to come out the next day. Showed up exactly when he said he would first thing in the morning. I had an odd problem with the heat coming on for a few seconds or minutes then cutting off. We have a 20 yr old furnace that probably should be replaced. Took him a while to track down the problem because it could have been a number of things. Traced it to a main control module that wasn't working (not a very cheap part; I looked it up and his price was the same as what I could buy it for on the internet, so no price gouging on parts). Because of the age of the unit he wasn't sure he had the part on his truck, but luckily he did. Fixed it very quickly. Checked everything else out to make sure it was all functioning properly and safely. DID NOT try to sell me a new unit, although I did ask his opinion of mine and what I should replace it with. He was honest- said something else could go out any time or it could be fine for the next 5 years. Very pleasant experience and would definitely use them again.

They were very professional. They arrived on time. He was very friendly. Fireplace looks and works great!

It went fine, but he did not have the part with him so I don't know if I was charged for his travel time to get the part. Also, when he was finished he went out to write up the ticket and I went downstairs to turn off the lights and noticed he did not bother to put in the new filter that I bought as the other one had gotten wet from whatever was wrong with my heat pump. Small detail, but when you hear that it is fixed and ready, that he could have at least put the filter in.

We bought an older home with a natural gas fireplace, direct vent. The former owners had not been using the fireplace much. They were very busy at the time we needed to make an appointment so we had to wait a few weeks for service.

Very professional estimate. Installer was excellent and very personable. Very pleased with service.

The service was done in a professional and timely manner. They were careful to clean everything up and were just great guys to work with! Great job! We will continue to use Star in the future as we have in the past 18 years. Very satisfied! Star, we think you are the best!!

I called to make an appointment and was transfered to the Fireplace Shop. They scheduled the appointment within the same week and were very willing to work around my schedule. Two gentleman showed up and couldn't have been more courteous and professional. They were extremely thorough and explained in detail what they were doing and why. I like to hover and learn as much as I can and they were more than willing to talk to me about every question I asked. I would highly recommend them to anyone and plan to have them come out to my home on an annual basis.

I called because our AC has been freezing up - it will be set at 75 degrees and be cranking and cranking, but only cool to about 85 degrees. It was frozen on the outside (which means it is frozen on the inside too). We did some home remedies before we called (turned it off and let it thaw out for a day or two, changed the filter, sprayed off the outside unit) to no avail. When I called, they said they couldn't squeeze me in until the afternoon (the same day, mind you) - I was satisfied with that, but overjoyed when she called me back about 30 minutes later and told me they had a service technician available in my area then and asked if I would like him to come out. Not only was it same-day service, it was same-HOUR service! He was here about an hour, did a thorough exam of both the inside and outside equipment. He filled the refrigerant ($22 of the bill) and tinkered with some other things. He even talked me through some of the possible replacement units we could get in the future (probably recent future, our unit is ancient). I really appreciated him taking the time to walk me through things.

A/C unit did not come on first time this year. I researched Angies list and chose star tech niacin Phillip did a through training and cheered on it fully OK.

I will use them inthe future when my system fails.

We were prepared to spend a few thousands of dollars to replace it, but they asked to service it and we spent only a couple of dollars, which wasn't bad at all. The service people who attended the phone were friendly and the person who came talked us through the job and didn't make us feel taken advantage of. They recommended us a company for HVAC and overall the experience was positive. Whatever they have done, has been great and they air conditioner seems to work. We called them on a weekend and they gave us an option asking us to wait until Monday, else if they want someone over the weekend it may cost them extra. I opted to wait until Monday and it was done first thing in the morning. I will use them again in the future.

When we bought the house 12+ yrs. ago, found a sticker on furnace for service co. X. Had a couple of "tune-up" calls, dscovered that the tech of the moment was trying to talk us into parts that were not needed, charging $45 for a $4 part (a fuse!), and engaging in other unacceptable practices. Called Star, a local company recommended by a friend and have never regretted it. I call twice a year, ask for Travis for an inspection and necessaries. Appointments are easily available, Travis shows up promptly after calling 5-10 minutes ahead of time, no fuss no mess and keeps things working, even when a faulty part is really troublesome.. Labor and parts seem quite reasonable. And the dog likes him! I would recommend Star Htg. to any homeowner whose HVAC needs maintenance.

It is an old furnace but they keep it going and do not try to push a new system. This is a very professional company and I would highly recommend them.

I used Star based on reports from Angie's List and really couldn't be happier with how professional they were! I called this morning around 9:30 am and they were able to send out a technician at 1:30 pm (which was the first time I was available). The technician who worked on my AC unit was Travis and he was very polite, walked me through everything he looked at and either assessed to be okay or needed to fix a little bit. He was also able to tell me that my particular problem (my AC works fine, but we have standing water in our basement sometimes - we were narrowing it down between the AC or the water heater) was probably not the AC, but he was happy to look at it and fix it so it would be more efficient.He was also really good about my pets (I have two dogs and a cat) - some other technicians who have come out to my house (for other things than the AC/other companies) have been rude about my pets.

The workman was polite and explained everything to me. My biggest complaint is that the tech was on the phone everytime I or my husband checked on him and when you are paying in 15 minute incriments, a dozen phone calls can add up to minutes I've spent money on being used to service other customers needs. Cell phone rudeness is unavoidable I guess, and no one seems to be as bothered by it as I am.

The technician arrived punctually and asked me several questions about my service request to see if I had had any problems. I hadn't had any, so we went to the furnace and he opened the side panel and checked to system components. He gave me a mini-history about the types of units that were used in the construction of the homes in my neighborhood, and then started more system checks and a cleaning. He told me this type of service is only necessary every 3 years pointing out that some companies say that it should be done every year. I left him to complete his work and he asked me to come back after several minutes. I had noticed at times that I could hear a fan that when it started up, sounded like its fins were hitting something. He had encountered that and asked if I had noticed it before. I told him that I had, but that it didn't happen every time. He showed me which component was causing the noise and described how some systems, especially older systems, were made so the offending fan assembly could be replaced separately. However, mine is one where the fan is integral to a larger component that may cost as much as $300 to replace. However, he said that it was not necessary to replace this item unless the start-up noise bothered me enough to want to replace it. I decided not to replace it, because the occasional noise doesn't bother me. Then he went outside to inspect the air conditioning system. After a short while, he came in with a new part to show me what he'd found on an old part that was in the system. He said that the electrical relay contacts were burnt to a point where soon he believed the relay would fail. He told me the part was $30 and that it wouldn't take long to replace. I told him to go ahead with the replacement. About 10 minutes later, he was done, and he came in to settle the bill. The bill was $142: $78 service charge; 1/2 hour labor: $34, and $30 for the part (contactor) that was replaced in the air conditioner unit.

I woke up this morning with no heat. My house is relatively new~~8 years old, so I couldn't imagine why the furnace wasn't working. Star Heating and Cooling installed my heat/ac unit when I bought the house, so I called them to make an appointment to come and look at it. Then I went to work. Four hours later I came home to meet their technician, and the heat was working. Great! At this point, I should mention that I have never had my heat/ac unit serviced. I thought that such a unit was like a refrigerator~~just plug in it and let it run until it dies. I found out today that I was wrong. The time I had scheduled was between 1:00 and 5:00, and the technician, JB, called right at 1:00 and told me he was on his way. He showed up shortly thereafter and impressed me at the door by knowing what kind of unit I had in the attic. He had done his homework! As a teacher, I appreciate that! When I told him that the heat was actually working, he told me what could have caused it not to work during the night and what could have caused it to come back on. Then he went straight to work, checking out the thermostat first and then going to the attic to look at the unit. After confirming that there was no major problem, he found that there was a delay on the ignition, so he cleaned the burners and the flame sensor. He checked the gas pressure and found the valve stepping slow, but he said that there was really no need to replace that part at this time. Basically, eight years of no maintenance was why my furnace wasn't working, but JB fixed that by cleaning the burners. He told me that although many companies will say "service your unit every year," I should have mine cleaned about every three years for my particular brand. It took about an hour from start to finish, and I am very, very pleased with the outcome. He only charged me $78.00, which I thought was extremely reasonable. In addition, JB was personable, efficient, and honest. I could not be more happy with this company. I will definitely call Star Heating and Cooling again this summer when I get ready to turn the AC on~~after all, it hasn't been serviced in 8 years either and probably should be.

They came out on short notice to repair the outside a/c unit on one of the hottest days of the year. We were very pleased with the service and the cost was under what we were expecting to pay, especially on such short notice. We would certainly call them again when we need a/c or heating service.

It went well. They came right out if I had any problems.
